Inside Central Florida: Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge
Visit the Back to Nature wildlife refuge and meet some of the dozens of animals who call Central Florida home.
Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge Habitat Creation and Enrichment
In this video, we illustrate how we create habitats for our injured and orphaned wild animals in need to simulate their natural homes and to cultivate their natural instincts and behaviors. Creating a habitat including enrichment activities aids in the rehabilitative process and also provides our permanent residents with an environment as close to home as possible.
Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the Rescue, Raise, Rehabilitation and Release of Central Florida's injured and orphaned native wildlife. In addition, we strive to educate the public through the use of our non-releasable, permanent wildlife known as our Educational Ambassadors.
We are open to the public TUESDAY-SUNDAY from 9am-4pm. Come visit us!

OCFL Update | Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge 30th “Animalversary”
On May 4, 2019, the Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge and Rehabilitation Center, located at Eagles Roost Park, celebrated its 30 years of success with the community that has always supported it. Since 1989, the refuge has been rescuing, raising, rehabilitating and releasing injured or orphaned Florida-native species and educating Orange County visitors about respecting and preserving the environment through its non-releasable permanent residents known as “educational ambassadors.”

Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge Enrichment Video
Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge uses environmental enrichments and enhancements to increase the quality of life for not only the animals that live at the refuge but the thousands of injured and orphaned animals that are rehabilitated every year. Through use of tactile, audible, taste, olfactory, and visual enrichment using food, toys, habitat, and activities, we cultivate the animal's natural behaviors keeping them as close to what they would experience in the wild as possible. Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the Rescue, Raise, Rehabilitation and Release of Central Florida's injured and orphaned native wildlife. Back To Nature Wildlife Refuge and Education Center
I was delighted to join Commissioner Jennifer Thompson and more than 1,000 Orange County citizens at the recent ribbon cutting and grand opening of the Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge and Education Center at Eagles Roost, an Orange County Green PLACE property near Lake Nona. The event raised $15,000 to care for and rehabilitate injured and orphaned wildlife, a service Back to Nature has been providing for 25 years.
It's Manatee Viewing Season At Blue Springs Florida | Nature Walk, Wildlife & Over 200 Manatees!
In today's vlog we head to Blue Springs State Park to see the manatees! It's currently manatee season, where the manatees start heading south in search of warmer waters and today we see over 200 of them here at Blue Springs State Park! We see some of the baby manatees too, which is pretty cool. We took the nature walk to the spring boil, which is like the head of the spring, that was really pretty and we also saw some graffiti! This is definitely a fun place to check out if you're in the area and there's a lot of wildlife to see and you can swim here in the summertime! Thank you for watching and we'll see you tomorrow with a new vid!

We Went Hiking In The Disney Wilderness Preserve!
Today we went for a hike in the Disney Wilderness Preserve located in Kissimmee Florida. This area was bought by the Walt Disney Company to mitigate its expansion and was transferred to The Nature Conservancy to create a nature preserve. We did a short 2.5 mile hike out to Lake Russell where we had a nice picnic out by the water. We saw a few alligators and the tracks of a raccoon and a sand hill crane. Other than those, we didn't see very many animals. Just a lot of bugs. It was still a very interesting and exciting trip to the Disney Wildlife Preserve. If you would like more information or would like to visit the preserve yourself you can find more information here: Join us tomorrow for another new video.
