This is my favorite part from an absolute classic Road Trip.
The unexpected intrusion, the interesting locals, and the over-the-phone interview which finally provides an answer to his speculation about the significance of the painting on the wall !
Adam Carolla once claimed that Huell's van could break down in the driveway on his way to filming a show,.... and Huell would still find enough to film and talk about to make the 1 hour show.
This episode confirms that statement.

Bagdad Cafe (sometimes Bagdad Café, titled Out of Rosenheim in Germany) is a 1987 English-language German film directed by Percy Adlon. It is a comedy-drama set in a remote truck stop and motel in the Mojave Desert in the US state of California. Loosely based on Carson McCullers' novella The Ballad of the Sad Café (1951), the film centers on two women who have recently separated from their husbands, and the blossoming friendship that ensues. It runs 95 minutes in the U.S. and 108 minutes in the German version.
PLOT
German tourists Jasmin Münchgstettner (Sägebrecht) from Rosenheim and her husband fight while driving across the desert. She storms out of the car and makes her way to the isolated truck stop, which is run by the tough-as-nails and short-tempered Brenda (Pounder), whose own husband, after an argument out front, is soon to leave as well. Jasmin takes a room at the adjacent motel. Initially suspicious of the foreigner, Brenda eventually befriends Jasmin and allows her to work at the cafe.
The cafe is visited by an assortment of colorful characters, including a strange ex-Hollywood set-painter (Palance) and a glamorous tattoo artist (Kaufmann). Brenda's son (Darron Flagg) plays J. S. Bach preludes on the piano. With an ability to quietly empathize with everyone she meets at the cafe, helped by a passion for cleaning and performing magic tricks, Jasmin gradually transforms the cafe and all the people in it.

Perched atop a 150-ft cinder cone on the edge of the Mojave desert, the Volcano House appears ready to take off to a far away planet at any second. For architecture buffs who have always dreamed of living on the moon, the Volcano House comes close and can now be yours for $650,000. Once the home of beloved California's Gold presenter Huell Howser, the property features 360 degrees of wrap-around windows that offer unencumbered views of the otherworldly Mojave landscape.
The 2,206 sq ft mid-century home has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and high curved ceilings which reach up towards a central stone fireplace. The buyers will easily channel their inner Don Draper while sipping cocktails on the built-in sofas in the sunken conversation pit. A separate guesthouse sits at the bottom of the cinder cone and looks out over its own private lake. The 2-story outbuilding contains a large garage and an upstairs apartment that could, according to Sotheby’s “be the ideal caretaker’s residence”.
