Bali Cooking Class / Indonesia Food at Bali Farm School
We took an amazing Bali cooking class to experience cooking Indonesian Food with the Bali Farm School just outside of Ubud Bali.
If you are looking for what to do in Bali, then be sure to check out Bali Farm School. It's the only organic cooking class available in Bali. They have 2 classes per day and even allow children (with parents of course)!
We started out by going to the local Asia market, some might call a wet market, just north of Ubud Bali. Then we arrived at the cooking school to harvest some organic vegetables before we began cooking!
We were fortunate enough to attend with several families so it was an amazing experience as world travelers.

Episode 1:
In our first week in Ubud, we explored the neighborhood rice paddies in Penestanan Village, visited the Tegallalang Rice Terraces, and took a cooking class at Mai Organic Farm in Pejeng. The main theme throughout our explorations was Bali’s impressive Subak system, their irrigation system that was first developed in the 9th century. It was named a UNESCO world heritage site in 2012.

What they have to say with our Cooking Classes In Ubud :
“Cooking class and overnight stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2015
We were picked up in the afternoon for our overnight stay at the farm and the cooking class the next day
When we arrived at the farm we got a warm welcome from Wayan and the rest of the staff. We had an amazing home cooked meal and after we got directed to our room. The only remark i gave for the room is that there was no mosquito-net.
The next morning we were woken up with a plate of fresh fruit from the farm. We then got taken to the market where we would meet the rest of the class.
The market was not really special and we've seen better ones but we got told a lot of information about the roots and vegetables used in traditional balinese and Indonesian dishes. We already knew most of the information but for most people this was a nice add to the day
Then of to the farm. We got to pick al our ingredients for the dishes that we were going to make. This was very nice! After we were done the veggies got cleaned for us and we could start cooking
The cooking you mostly have to do by yourself. You work in pairs so the work is equally split. Our teacher walked by frequently and so did the ladies who also helped a lot!
The dishes were very good and tasty! The whole experience was a real add for the vacation and we hope we can do the vegetarian course some day!
What i liked the most of the day is that you can pick your veggies by yourself and because you work in pairs you get to eat your own dishes ( some people like very spicy some don't)
Nice finishing touch: you get to keep your apron and a little cookbook with the dishes you made that day

During our stay in Bali we headed to Bali Farm Cooking School to take part in their vegetarian Balinese cookery course and it was brilliant! We were collected from our Airbnb in Ubud and taken to their farm about 30 minutes away where we got to pick fresh organic vegetables to use in our recipes. We made 5 dishes - Gado Gado, Sweet and Sour Tempeh, Tofu Curry, Berkedel and Pepes. They were all amazing and we can't wait to make them again! Enjoy :)

Visiting September 2015
The class will take place outside Ubud, in a small village. That makes it all the more authentic, including the morning visit at the market. The setting is great, the equipment is excellent and the staff is lovely. Not to mention that good results are basically guaranteed. Everyone knows that Balinese food is amazing but the one I have prepared... is probably the best
