Today I'm showing you five not-so-hidden hidden gems to visit in Seattle. Yes, you should totally visit Pike Place Market and the Space Needle, but you should check these out next. From the streets of the International District and Little Saigon to some of the most peculiar museums, there's something for everyone. (And I do mean everyone. How did we even get a dialysis museum? I have so many questions about that.)

Visit Ballard Locks, The Hiram M Chittenden Locks, in Seattle, Washington, United States
The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, or Ballard Locks, is a complex of locks at the west end of Salmon Bay, in Seattle, Washington's Lake Washington Ship Canal, between the neighborhoods of Ballard to the north and Magnolia to the south.[2]:2[3][4]:6
The Ballard Locks carry more boat traffic than any other lock in the US, and the Locks, along with the fish ladder and the surrounding Carl S. English, Jr., Botanical Gardens attract more than one million visitors annually, making it one of Seattle's top tourist attractions.[5]:7–8 The construction of the locks profoundly reshaped the topography of Seattle and the surrounding area, lowering the water level of Lake Washington and Lake Union by 8.8 feet (2.7 m), adding miles of new waterfront land, reversing the flow of rivers, and leaving piers in the eastern half of Salmon Bay high and dry.[5] The Locks are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the American Society of Civil Engineers Historic Civil Engineering Landmarks. Northern Victor at the Ballard Locks
Capturing the Northern Victor going through the Hiram M. Chittenden (Ballard) Locks that is Alaska bound.
History of the Northern Victor:
The Northern Victor is the largest of Icicle's processing vessels at 8902 gross tons. She was built in 1945 as the cargo vessel Marengo in Wisconsin for the U.S. war effort. Released from the U.S. Reserve Fleet, she was converted in 1972 to the oil well drilling ship Ocean Cyclone in Beaumont, Texas, adding a drilling tower and other drilling related equipment, a new engine room, 40 feet in length and 20 feet in beam to bring her to present dimensions of 380 feet long and 70 feet wide. After a successful career drilling for oil in the Middle East and South America, the vessel was retired in Brazil in 1986. Previous owners took the vessel to South Africa for removal of drilling related equipment in 1988. The Northern Victor was returned to the United States and converted to a fish processing vessel in Panama City, Florida, in 1989 and 1990. Since July 1990 the Northern Victor has operated in Alaska and produced various seafood products as the second largest processing vessel in the United States fishing industry. Icicle acquired the Northern Victor in late 1999 and subsequently completed major processing equipment additions and improvements that have made her the most versatile processing vessel in the U.S. industry. With quarters for 222 crew members she processes Alaskan Pollock at her primary operating base in the Aleutians Islands near Dutch Harbor. An onboard rendering plant produces a high quality fish meal and fish oil from the normal processing waste by-products and insures a maximum recovery from the purchased fish. Her home base is in Seattle, WA.

And here, even music and sci-fi get time in the spotlight, thanks to the 140,000-square-foot Frank O. Gehry-designed Museum of Pop Culture (or MoPOP, formerly the EMP) and Science Fiction Hall of Fame at Seattle Center.

Amazing Fish Ladder of Seattle WA USA (Video from viewing windows )
see how Salmon are returning for spawning, from Pacific sea water to Lake Washington's fresh water. where lake's water level is about 15' higher than the sea. so, they built this structures for salmon to bypass the chip canal & dams. ( a tourist spot too )

Seattle Japanese Garden
Completed in 1960, the Seattle Japanese Garden is a 3.5 acres garden located in Washington Park Arboretum. This is one of the oldest Japanese gardens in North America and is regarded as one of the most authentic in the United States.
The garden includes over 500 granite boulders, ranging in size from 1,000 pounds to 11 tons. They are arranged to complement a variety of azaleas, rhododendrons, camellias, mosses and ferns. The garden features a teahouse, pergola, arbors, decks, bridges and other features.
One at a time through Ballard Locks - Seattle, Washington
We arrived just in time to see pleasure boats rise to the occasion. The official name is Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, but is known locally as the Ballard Locks after the neighborhood to the north. The locks can elevate a 760-foot by 80-foot wide vessel 26 feet, from the level of Puget Sound at a very low tide to the level of freshwater Salmon Bay, in 10--15 minutes. The locks handle both pleasure boats and commercial vessels, ranging from kayaks to fishing boats returning from the Bering Sea to cargo ships. Over 1 million tons of cargo, fuel, building materials, and seafood products pass through the locks each year.

Seattle things to do and sightseeing tours! I spend the day being a tourist in Seattle, Washington. In true Seattle travel fashion, we rode the ducks, took photos at Kerry Park (which is where you get amazing views of the Seattle skyline and the Space Needle), roamed the Olympic Sculpture Park downtown, and checked out the Ballard Locks as the sun was setting.
In this Seattle travel vlog, I share some things to do in Seattle, Washington if you're here for a day trip or you have a weekend in Seattle - including what to see, where to go, and some sightseeing places. I definitely recommend doing a sightseeing tour to cover more ground and get acquainted with the city
Is anyone else obsessed with the Seattle Space Needle? The longer I live in the city, the more it becomes a symbol and the more I feel pride in it!
