Travel Barcelona, Spain - Beautiful Architecture in Barcelona
Take a tour of House of Bones, Barcelona - part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats.
Hi, I am Naomi and I am very excited to show you the world's greatest attractions.
The curving exterior of Barcelona's Casa Batlló astounds with it's irregular beauty.
The building was designed in 1904 by the famous architect Antoni Gaudi.
Locals have named it the House of Bones because of it's bone-like pillars.
The building's interiors are every bit as curvilinear as it's facade.
Intended as a residence, it now serves as a museum and event space.
Its sculptural roof is said to represent St. George and the dragons.
Even the highest peaks of Casa Batlló show the finest of detail.
Thank you for watching our Travel Video Series. See you next time.

BARCELONA WALK | Citadel Park incl. Waterfall and Boating Lake | Spain
A first-person perspective Barcelona walk tour of Citadel Park (Parc de la Ciutadella), a beautiful park with monumental waterfall, boating lake and Parliament of Catalonia building.
Experience all of the sights and sounds as Watched Walker (yes, I’m talking about myself in the third person) takes us on a walking tour through the streets of Barcelona, featuring a walk in Barcelona's Citadel Park (Parc de la Ciutadella). The tour begins outside the park's north-western entrance on Passeig de Pujades, then takes a gentle stroll through the park, finishing towards the southern end of the park by the entrance to Barcelona Zoo.
Sights seen along the tour include the Castle of the Three Dragons (Castell dels Tres Dragons), modern sculpture by Antoni Clave, tight-rope walker, boating lake, monumental waterfall (Cascada Monumental) built for the Universal Exposition in 1888 and designed by Fontsere, gold ‘Chariot of Aurora’ (‘Quadriga de l’Aurora') sculpture by Rossend Nobas, Mammoth (Mamut), sculpture ‘To the Catalan Volunteers’ (‘Als Voluntaris Catalans’) by Josep Clarà, Joan Fiveller Square (Plaça de Joan Fiveller), Parliament of Catalonia (Parlament de Catalunya), school (Institut Verdaguer), place of worship (Parroquia Castrense de la Ciutadella), equestrian statue of General Prim (Estàtua eqüestre del general Prim) by Lluís Puiggener, and entrance to Barcelona Zoo (Parc Zoològic de Barcelona).
And in each video I've hidden a blinking eye, can you spot it? (It could appear more than once). In addition to the blinking eye, I've also added the Watched Walker logo to various scenes–it could be on buildings, vehicles or any other objects, so keep an eye out for it too!
Footage recorded June 2017.

La Rambla, La Sagrada Familia, Gothic Quarter and Sala Paraminf University of Barcelona
Barcelona, Barri Gotic and Back to Germany - Spain 4K Travel Channel
We still want to spend an afternoon in the Barri Gotic, the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, before returning to Germany. After we arrived with the Renfe high-speed train from Madrid. The next morning we have to take the train via Paris to Saarbrücken and so we have booked the Expo Hotel Barcelona at the station Barcelona-Sants again.
We take the metro to Rambla. First, we pass the church of Santa Maria de Pi and continue to the Placa de Saint Jaume, the main square of the city.
Here is the town hall, with a large banner Refugees welcome. The Mayor of Barcelona denounces the policy of the central government in Madrid, which does not want a welcome culture for refugees.
Directly opposite is the Palau de la Generalitat. The medieval palace houses the offices of the Presidency of the Generalitat de Catalunya. We do not stop for a long time but walk over the Placa de Sant Miquel, which is decorated by the Monumento a los Castellers.
Via the Carrer de Ferran, a popular shopping street, we reach Placa Reial, the royal square. The square, surrounded by arcades, dates back to the 19th century and was built in the classical style. Jugglers and street musicians try to drag the tourists into the spell, but as soon as the police show up they disappear. They play cat and mouse.
Due to the many restaurants and bars, the square is now very popular, after being a popular drug market in the 1980s.
The square is decorated with palm trees. The famous street lanterns are from Gaudi. If one does not come from the Rambla, one can easily overlook the square, since, except for the wide access from there, it has only three gateways openings in the surrounding narrow streets.
We go back through the Carrer de Ferran to the Placa del Rei, the King's Square. It is one of the landmarks of Catalonia and is the seat of the counts of Barcelona and the kings of Aragon.
The Placa del Rei was also the historical center of the city in the Roman era. Here stood the Temple of Augustus.

The park was built from 1900 to 1914 and was officially opened as a public park in 1926. In 1984, UNESCO declared the park a World Heritage Site under Works of Antoni Gaudí
Up in Barcelona's Horta-Guinardó neighbourhood, Park Güell boasts breathtaking hillside views of the whole city. You can enter the park for free, but if you want to get into the 'Monumental zone', you'll pay around €8 to see the iconic mosaic bench and dragon, plus more gems. Chock-full of symbolism and nature motifs, this park, belonging to Gaudí’s naturalist phase, will spark anyone’s imaginative side. Once you've taken in the Monumental zone's attractions, make sure to save some time to walk up and explore the surrounding park, which is a must-see in its own right.
The Park Güell is a public park system composed of gardens and architectonic elements located on Carmel Hill, in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Carmel Hill belongs to the mountain range of Collserola – the Parc del Carmel is located on the northern face. Park Güell is located in La Salut, a neighborhood in the Gràcia district of Barcelona. With urbanization in mind, Eusebi Güell assigned the design of the park to Antoni Gaudí, a renowned architect and the face of Catalan modernism.
Güell and Gaudí conceived this park, situated within a natural park. They imagined an organized grouping of high-quality homes, decked out with all the latest technological advancements to ensure maximum comfort, finished off with an artistic touch. They also envisioned a community strongly influenced by symbolism, since, in the common elements of the park, they were trying to synthesize many of the political and religious ideals shared by patron and architect: therefore there are noticeable concepts originating from political Catalanism – especially in the entrance stairway where the Catalan countries are represented – and from Catholicism – the Monumento al Calvario, originally designed to be a chapel. The mythological elements are so important: apparently Güell and Gaudí's conception of the park was also inspired by the Temple of Apollo of Delphi.

Barcelona, from Plaça de les Glòries Catalane to Ciutadella Park - Spain 4K Travel Channel
We begin our exploration tour at the Plaça de les Glòries Catalane, lined with modern architecture. The 142 m high Torre Agbar with its dazzling facade, that changes color depending on the daylight, immediately strikes the eye. At night, the office building is lit by means of LED in different colors. In the meantime, the building was sold to the Hyatt hotel chain and converted into a luxury hotel.
Right next to the Toree Agbar is the Museu del Disseny - Design Museum of Barcelona. It is a merger of the Museum of Decorative Arts, the Museum of Ceramics, the Textile and Clothing Museum and the collection of the Grafic Arts Cabinet.
La Fira de Bellcaire: Next you see an avant-garde roof in which the underlying floor is reflected. covers a gigantic flea market. Besides sales booths, auctions are also carried out here; these are among the oldest in Europe, dating back to the 14th century.
From here, but you have a good view of the Sagrada Familia, the church designed by Antoni Gaudi, and the former bullring Monumental
We follow the Avenida Meridiana and pass the modern National Theatre of Catalonia and the L'Auditori, a music complex. It houses the Barcelona Symphony and Catalonia National Orchestra, the Catalonia College of Music and the Music Museum of Barcelona.
We branch off into the Carrier d'Ali Bei and buy our bus ticket to Lloret de Mar at the Estacion del Norte.
Highlight on our tour is the Arc de Triomf near. The triumphal arch in the Moorish style was set up by the architect Josep Vilaseca i to Casanovas on the occasion of the world exhibition 1888.
From here, the Passeig de Lluís Companys, the magnificent avenue which enjoys high recreational value, leads to the Parc de la Ciutadella, the former site of the World Expo. The building called Castle of the Three Dragons houses the Zoological Museum.
Originally it was the place of the citadel of Barcelona. The citadel, built by King Philip V, was the largest star-shaped citadel of Europe. The citadel was destroyed in 1868. It was the hated symbol of the central government. What remained was the chapel, the governor palace and the arsenal which is headquarters of the Catalan parliament today. A lake was laid out with exotic plants and aquatic animals in the park. It is overtopped by a splendid waterfall, the Cascada, built by Fontserè i Mestre.
