Bat Cave at Wat Khao Chong Pran, Photharam, Ratchaburi, Thailand, 3rd December 2019 (2562)
This hill is located in Tambon Tao Pun, Amphoe Photharam, 17 kilometres north of Ratchaburi along the Khao Ngu-Boek Phrai route (Route No. 3089). The roadside hill has two interesting caves; Tham Phra Non housing more than 100 Buddha images and Tham Khangkhao or Bat Cave, which is home to some three million bats. The best time to view the bats is of course around dusk when the sky darkens with millions of bats leaving the cave in search of food.

Wat Khao Chong Pran Bat Temple, Photharam, Ratchaburi, Thailand.
This Wat is located in a very small town but is known for the cave filled with millions of bats. The locals also refer to it as Hundred Million Bat Cave.
Every evening at about 6 pm, many locals and a select group of tourists park themselves on the Temple ground to witness what some describe as black water flowing from the mountain cave.
The continual swam of Black-bearded Tomb bats exit the cave mouth before dusk rain or shine. Their flow through the sky is like flowing black liquid lasting for over half an hour. It is a spectacle like nothing one has ever seen before.
Bat Cave | Khao Yai National Park | Thailand
Everyday at dusk, millions of bats come out of their caves and dance their way into the fields of Khao Yai National Park. It is a indeed a natural wonder to see this spectacle of so many bats moving like a rhythmic wave in the sky..

Tao Pun Subdistrict, Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province
Khao Chong Pran is located in Tao Pun Sub-district, Photharam District, which is 96 kilometers far from Bangkok. From Ratchaburi city, take Khao Ngu-Berk Prai Road for 17 kilometers. At Khao Chong Pran, there is the beautiful cave called “Phra Non-Cave” where more than 100 Buddha images are located inside, including the 8-meter long and one-meter high laying Buddha Image. The amazing thing here is a billion bats flying out from the cave at 5.30pm. and that takes about one hour.
To the Bat Cave! Takkatan Cave. Ban Pong, Northern Thailand.
An exploration deep into the caverns of Takkantan Cave.
Over an hour spent in the actual caves. Mind blowing visuals!
The caves are stunning, and at one point i was greeted to a GIGANTIC cavern FILLED with bats. It was like something out of a movie set.!
The bats flew around above my head in their hundreds like a tornado.
Both fascinating and frightening..and spellbinding.
I kept the light lowered to not disturb them too much.
I was constantly bombarded by insects flying at me and ended up covered in strange black beetles.
Going through the main sections of bats caused me to cough. I believe some kind or reaction to the ammonia from their droppings.
Strange insects and bacteria and spores...and below my feet was a ground carpeted in old dead bugs.
Very bizarre experience and loved every minute (except for the bugs flying at me!).
Will write up a blog post on it down the line!
