Now I am in Penang Batu Ferringhi beach, Morning i was started my journey from Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. After driving 370 km i have arrived in Batu Ferringhi beach.

Batu Ferringhi is a suburb of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. Located along the northern coast of Penang Island and about 11 km (6.8 mi) northwest of the city centre, it is the prime beach destination in Penang among locals and tourists.

Batu Ferringhi Beach is the best beach in Penang Malaysia and Penang’s second largest tourist destination after George Town Penang. Batu Ferringhi beach is filled with water sports, 5 star resorts, and of course the famous Batu Ferringhi Night Market. Let us show you around!

There are plenty of beaches in Penang to explore, but none are more built up than Batu Ferringhi. Of all the beaches in Malaysia, Batu Ferringhi is the most developed for tourists. We arrived at the beach and were instantly transported out of the chaos of George Town Penang into a seaside paradise. We had a relaxing stroll along Batu Ferringhi beach but decided to skip swimming due to the jellyfish in Penang that are known to sting. No thank you!

Visiting Batu Ferringhi Beach & Night Market is one of the best things to do in Penang while on vacation. Exploring Penang Island is much more than just George Town, so make sure you allow yourself some time to see the northern tip of Penang Island which is home to Batu Ferringhi, the Tropical Spice Gardens and more.

After flying the drone along Batu Ferringhi beach, we were lucky enough to find a local pier to watch an incredible sunset. We were happy to be the only two tourists in sight while we sat on the pier and watched the red, golden sun set below the horizon.

After the sun sets the Batu Ferringhi night market starts to become alive. Lining 1km of road along Jalan Batu Ferringhi, this is known to be the best night market Penang has to offer! The addition of this night market to Batu Ferringhi makes it not just your ordinary Malaysia beach. There is plenty to see day or night. As one of the most affordable beaches in Southeast Asia, Batu Ferringhi’s night market has a great deal of shopping and local Malaysian food to try. We found ourselves in a Turkish restaurant called Rubin Mardini on Jalan Batu Ferringhi and had an excellent meal. Highly recommend!

We hope you enjoyed the video and got some tips on the best places in Penang! Of course Batu Ferringhi isn’t one of the best beaches in Asia, but it’s a lovely beach filled with life nestled 20 minutes north of Malaysia’s UNESCO World Heritage sight of George Town Penang. Batu Ferringhi Beach, PENANG + The FLOATING Mosque & Supper at Longbeach Food Market (WeWillNomad)

Batu Ferringhi is probably the second most visited destination on Penang Island after the main city of George Town. Last time we were in Penang we didn’t have time to visit Batu Ferringhi so this time we were dying to go see what all the hype is about. The long sandy beach is dominated with water sport activities and if that’s what you’re looking for, then this is definitely the place for you! From crazy jet ski’s chasing each other on the water to people flying through the air suspended by brightly coloured parasails, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to adrenalin water sport activities. The safety may be questionable at times, but it sure does look like fun to Parasail at Batu Ferringhi Beach! There are also plenty of demarcated swimming areas, but to be honest, despite the bath like temperature, the water is not very appealing as it is rather murky. So as a beach destination, I have to say that we were slightly disappointed.

That being said, everyone will tell you that the sunsets in Batu Ferringhi are the most beautiful in Penang and here we can say that the sunset did not disappoint! We walked the length of the beach, which is filled with beach bars and cafes, all the way to the jetty. Here, we got to watch some local fishermen casting their nets, while the setting sun turned the skies into the most beautiful canvas of colour. So yes, our sunset from Batu Ferringhi Beach was most definitely the most beautiful in Penang!

With the sun having set, we made our way towards the main street to explore the well known Batu Ferringhi Night Market. One thing we had not realised is that the Batu Ferringhi Night Market is NOT a food market! It is a narrow alley of stalls which get set up along the sidewalk after 7pm and mostly consists of clothing, handbags, watches, local crafts and the usual market type trinkets. Walking through the night market feels very much like the tourist beach resort area that Batu Ferringhi is. We made our way along the length of the night market in search of the best place for local food in Batu Ferringhi.

This search led us straight to Long Beach Cafe, which is a food court area with a great variety of local food stalls as well as plenty of western food options. In addition to the fantastic food variety, we were very happy to find the cheapest fresh fruit juice in all of Penang! After eating and drinking far too much, we hopped on the local bus to make our way back to George Town. So yes, we do believe that Batu Ferringhi is worth visiting, but just don’t expect crystal clear beach waters!

THE PENANG TANJUNG BUNGAH FLOATING MOSQUE is generally open to visitors. Do remember to dress respectfully as it is a place of worship. There are also garments available for free for you to use if you are not suitably enough dressed. The mosque was constructed in 2004 after the older mosque nearby was damaged by the tsunami. Although the mosque is not actually floating, it appears such at high tide when the water hides the supporting pile foundations. The location of the mosque over the water is rather unique and really does add to the beauty of the mosque itself. We enjoyed making our way to the adjacent small beach for a different perspective view of the mosque. If you’re travelling north along the west coast of Penang Island, be sure to stop off here.

Batu Feringgi is second only to Georgetown in terms of Penang tourism. The district’s name translates as ‘Foreigner’s Rock’, and it’s home to one of the densest blocks of development in Penang. The district is popular for its white-sand beach fringed with al fresco restaurants and waterfront hotels.


While the district center is laden with tourist infrastructure, several nature-based attractions are in the area. Tropical Spice Garden and the Butterfly Farm are nice places to stroll for an hour, but the real hiking is in Penang National Park (Taman Rimba Teluk Bahang).


The emphasis in Batu Feringgi is on hospitality and tourism rather than historical sightseeing or cultural experience. Restaurants specialize in international fare or in Westernized versions of Malaysian cuisine. Anyone with a taste for authentic, local food can still find food hawker stalls in the area.


Accommodation in Batu Feringgi is competitively priced due to high hotel supply. Backpackers have a great selection, including a few ocean-facing bungalows. There are just as many resorts and spas on the beach with luxury offerings, so tourists on any budget find suitable rooms here.


The waterfront row turns into a popular pedestrian market every evening – famous throughout Southeast Asia for cheap replica goods, clothes and local handicrafts. Called ‘Pasar Malam’, the market also has a few pubs and clubs that stay open late. Otherwise, the best places to drink and dance are attached to major hotels.
