Bayfront Park - Sarasota, FL - Two-Minute Tour
Sarasota's Bayfront Park is located at One Marina Plaza, Saraosta, FL 34236, along Sarasota Bay. Bayfront Park, is about 32 acres, overlooks the harbor and the Marina Jack Restaurant complex. The island park is a great place to wander around and enjoy scenic views of the bay and marina. Bayfront Park is also commonly known as Island Park, too.
Enjoy the park's serenity and calming environment. Sarasota's Bayfront Park is a great place to walk a dog, book a fishing trip, and enjoy a sunset. The park has a fun playground and water-feature park for kids. There are also bench swings and a beautiful dolphin fountain.
The park is also the site of Sarasota's annual July 4th fireworks display. Many visitors take pictures at a large statue, celebrating WWII victory, of a sailor kissing a nurse.

Sarasota was mostly spared from the damage caused by Hurricane Irma. We had many downed trees and power infrastructure issues. Power has been out for 24 hours in some homes. Overall though, compared to some cities, the damage doesn't even compare.
In Sarasota Bay's Mooring Field, many sailboats and house boats take up residency near Sarasota downtown. In storms, especially one of this magnitude, there are often issues with the boats breaking free and slamming into the concrete walls near Tamiami Trail. That was the case this weekend and I recorded some video of what I saw.
Sarasota is a beautiful and unique city filled with unique people, art, music, and incredible food. Hurricane Irma came and went, and although we have a lot of work to do, the beauty of this city will never change.
I am thankful that this city was spared the brunt of the storm. Other nearby cities did not fare so well. We must come together as Floridians to help our neighbors and rebuild our beautiful cities.
I am thankful to have another day to spend in this beautiful city and magical state.

Пик сезона приходится на декабрь-май, ведь даже в январе температура редко падает ниже +20 градусов и в Мексиканском заливе можно купаться.

To the north of Siesta Key is Lido Key. We start in a park at the southern edge of the key, which was the least crowded of the beaches, and alot of trees provide plenty of shade. Lido Key beach is one of Sarasota's most interesting and varied waterfront locations, and next to St. Armands Circle, which is a hub of elegant shopping and dining. Sarasota (/ˌsærəˈsoʊtə/) is a city in Sarasota County on the southwestern coast of the U.S. state of Florida. The area is renowned for its cultural and environmental amenities, beaches, resorts, and the Sarasota School of Architecture. The city is at the southern end of the Tampa Bay Area, north of Fort Myers and Punta Gorda. Its official limits include Sarasota Bay and several barrier islands between the bay and the Gulf of Mexico. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2013 Sarasota had a population of 53,326. In 1986 it became designated as a certified local government. Sarasota is a principal city of the Sarasota metropolitan area, and is the seat of Sarasota County.
The islands separating Sarasota Bay from the gulf near the city, known as keys, include Lido Key and Siesta Key, which are famous worldwide for the quality of their sandy beaches. The keys that are included in the boundary of Sarasota are Lido Key, St. Armands Key, Otter Key, Casey Key, Coon Key, Bird Key, and portions of Siesta Key. Previously, Siesta Key was named Sarasota Key. At one time, it and all of Longboat Key were considered part of Sarasota and confusing contemporaneous references may be found discussing them.
Longboat Key is the largest key separating the bay from the gulf, but it was evenly divided by the new county line of 1921. The portion of the key that parallels the Sarasota city boundary that extends to that new county line along the bay front of the mainland was removed from the city boundaries at the request of John Ringling in the mid-1920s, who sought to avoid city taxation of his planned developments at the southern tip of the key. Although they never were completed in the quickly faltering economy, those development concessions granted by the city never were reversed and the county has retained regulation of those lands.
The city limits had expanded significantly with the real estate rush of the early twentieth century, reaching almost 70 square miles (180 km2). The wild speculation boom began to crash in 1926 and following that, the city limits began to contract, shrinking to less than a quarter of that area.[10]

Sarasota is a city south of Tampa on Florida’s Gulf Coast that was once the winter home of the Ringling Brothers Circus. Today, it hosts a number of cultural institutes, notably the Ringling Museum of Art, which showcases old masters and modern art. It’s also the gateway to miles of beaches with fine sand and shallow waters, such as Lido Beach and Siesta Key Beach.
Sarasota is a popular city on the Gulf Coast of Southwest Florida and the county seat of Sarasota County. It is known for its vibrant arts community, excellent restaurants, unique shopping, and beautiful beaches. Sarasota, although a mid-sized city, is considered to be the cultural center of West Central Florida. The city has a metropolitan flavor unique to cities of its size and to cities in Florida.
The Asolo Theater, Florida West Coast Symphony, Sarasota Opera, the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, and frequent art shows add the the cultural theme of the city, rivaling the facilities of Florida's largest cities. Sarasota is also home to the Ringling Museum of Art, the Selby Botanical Gardens, New College (Florida's public honors college), a USF branch, and the Ringling School of Art and Design.
Sarasota's downtown comprises a true urban cityscape with offices and several upscale downtown condominiums. It is complemented by Saint Armands Circle, on Saint Armands Key, which is surrounded by Lido Key, across Sarasota Bay from downtown via the Ringling Causeway (with sweeping views of Sarasota Bay.) Saint Armands Circle is an upscale outdoor shopping area, with several cafes, reminiscent of Europe. The idea for Saint Armands was from John Ringling who also intended to build a Ritz hotel on Longboat Key. Today, Sarasota has a Ritz hotel downtown as well as the Longboat Key Club on Ringling's original site. The Longboat Key Club includes two golf courses, tennis, and all other resort facilities and is located just north of Saint Armands on Longboat Key.
The beaches are a major draw to the area. Siesta Key Beach is consistently ranked among the most beautiful beaches on Earth. (Siesta Key was also the site chosen for the marriage of Chrissy and Brian, of Home Today fame.) Crescent Beach, Turtle Beach, Lido Beach, and the beach running the 15 mile span of Longboat Key are equally beautiful and accessible. Indeed, much of Sarasota's charm comes from the fact that the beaches are so plentiful and accessible.

Сарасота – морской курорт в штате Флорида, расположенный на побережье теплого Мексиканского залива, южнее Тампы. Прекрасный климат, идеальные пляжи и отличная инфраструктура привлекают множество туристов. При этом Сарасота - не только курорт, но и место, где культурная жизнь бьет ключом, а достопримечательностей едва ли не больше, чем во всем остальном штате Флорида. В территориальную единицу Сарасота включены также примыкающие к ней Брадентон и Венис. Для полноты картины отметим, что Сарасота является городом-побратимом Владимира.
Сарасота расположена на западном побережье полуострова Флорида, чуть южнее залива Тампа Бэй. Площадь города составляет 67 кв.км, из которых 43% занимают водные пространства. В понятие Сарасота также включены маленькие острова ( т.н. Keys), расположенные в заливе Сарасота Бэй, на которых находится множество прекрасных пляжей.
Сарасота расположена на границе субтропической и тропической зоны. Влажный морской бриз смягчает жару, а растения цветут круглый год.
Когда лучше ехать
Вообще, Флорида – курорт, где отдыхать можно в любое время года. Однако есть несколько нюансов. Не стоит забывать, что с июня по середину ноября длится сезон ураганов.
Ласковые женские имена (Вильма, Катрина и т.д), которыми их называют метеорологи, могут таить в себе большие неприятности для отдыхающих. Конечно, есть в этом и свой экстрим – мало кто может похвастаться, что был непосредственным свидетелем такого катаклизма, но все же лучше не рисковать.
Пик сезона приходится на декабрь-май, ведь даже в январе температура редко падает ниже +20 градусов и в Мексиканском заливе можно купаться.
