Clearwater Beach includes a resort area and a residential area on the Gulf of Mexico in Pinellas County on the west central coast of Florida. Just west over the Intracoastal Waterway by way of the Clearwater Memorial Causeway from the city of Clearwater, Florida, of which it is part, Clearwater Beach is located at a geographic latitude is 27.57 N and longitude 82.48 W. The average local temperature is 73 °F (23 °C), with fall and spring being the most comfortable seasons. In January 2013, Clearwater Beach was awarded the designation of Florida's Best Beach Town by a reader poll from USA Today readers. It competed against nine other Florida beach destinations entered in the poll.
Clearwater Beach is characterized by white sand beaches stretching for 2.5 miles (4 km) along the Gulf and sits on a barrier island. It has a full marina on the Intracoastal Waterway side and is linked on the south by a short bridge to another barrier island called Sand Key, where Sand Key Park is located.
Clearwater Beach is approximately 20 miles (30 km) from Tampa International Airport and 25 miles (40 km) from downtown Tampa. It offers shopping, restaurants, and activities such as parasailing, jet ski rentals, boat tours (with a common sighting of dolphins in the Gulf waters), miniature golf, fishing charters, and pirate ship cruises.
Pier 60, named for State Road 60 which terminates in Clearwater Beach, is a central spot for beachgoers and has a playground, a snack bar with attached souvenir shop, and a long fishing pier. It's the site of a daily event called Sunsets at Pier 60, which includes street performers and musical acts. On the pier itself is a nightly display of goods sold by local artisans such as jewelry, candles, and other gift items.
The Clearwater Jolley Trolley has provided transportation up and down the beach since 1982. It currently runs to North Clearwater Beach and down to Sand Key, including Island Estates. Mandalay Avenue is the main drag on the north end of the beach with Gulfview Boulevard being so on the south. Both areas feature a variety of businesses.
Clearwater has frequently been ranked one of the best beaches in the U.S. Its Sandpearl resort was named one of the best beach resorts in the U.S. In 2009 an episode of Brooke Knows Best was shot on the beach

Please tell me he's not from Rio!: A Wedding at the Atlantic Hotel & Spa in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Ashley and Arnaldo were married on a windy, windy oceanview wedding from the 5th-floor terrace at the beautiful Atlantic Hotel and Spa in Ft. Lauderdale.
I met the couple during bride prep and hung out with them for pretty much the entire day, picking out cool shots to film before and during. We stated a quick first look for the Father of the Bride in the hotel room and then a Groom first look at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park which was glorious. This was my first time going there and although it was very hot and humid, it was incredibly magical for the couple and the entire bridal party. I'm really glad we went there and plan on going back when I get the chance.
The ceremony took place on the Hotel terrace overlooking the ocean, the constant breeze was a joy to be around, and my cake shots (and other detail footage) has never had so much movement. I loved it. It makes me wish for windy weddings all the time, lol.
Following the ceremony, the guests were treated to a night of fun with emotional speeches, a cover of More than Words by Extreme from a bride's maid, and incredibly funny toasts by friends and family. Awesome vibes all around.
Ashly and Arnaldo, we had so much fun spending time with you this day, and feel so humbled and honored to have been part of this unforgettable day. We wish you a lifetime of adventures, romance, and loving memories. We hope this film becomes one you will want to revisit time and time again.
With love,
SG

Park & Ocean
Park and Ocean formerly BG Coco Cafe Outdoor Center, is a short walk from beachside shops and condominiums, this park is an oasis of tropical hammocks-a gift from Hugh Taylor Birch to Florida’s posterity. His former estate preserves four distinct natural communities, nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. Visitors can rent a canoe and paddle along a mile-long freshwater lagoon or fish from the seawall. Nature lovers can hike along two short trails and learn about local plants and wildlife while bicyclists and skaters glide along the paved park road. Visitors can access the beach via the pedestrian tunnel under A1A. Picnic areas overlook the channel; pavilions with water and electricity are available for rental. Hugh Taylor Birch State Park
December 31, 1941, the Florida Board of Forestry and Parks obtained the title to what became Hugh Taylor Birch State Park.
In 1893, Chicago attorney Hugh Taylor Birch came to South Florida in search of a secluded area for his home. He settled in the small Fort Lauderdale village that included a store, a few houses and the old Army Post remains. Purchasing ocean-front property for about a dollar per acre, he eventually owned a 3.5-mile stretch of beachfront.
In 1940, at age 90, he built his Art Deco-style home, calling his 180-acre estate Terramar or ‘land to the sea.’ Wishing to preserve his subtropical paradise from encroaching development, Birch donated his estate as a public park. On December 31, 1941, the Florida Board of Forestry and Parks obtained the title to what became Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. It is now a barrier island of trees and greenery in the middle of urban Fort Lauderdale located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, and is one of the city’s most distinctive feature frequently compared to Central Park, also an island of peaceful green vegetation in the midst of a bustling city.

Welcome to Hugh Taylor Birch State Park
Ft. Lauderdale’s “Central Park” was gifted to the city by Hugh Taylor Birch for whom this urban oasis is named.
The ocean-side city of Fort Lauderdale has a population density of 4,761 people per square mile. However, residents are fortunate to have their own slice of wilderness amid the highly developed Miami metro area. Hugh Taylor Birch is the city’s own Central Park, complete with gopher tortoises and boat access from the intracoastal waterway. It’s easy to see why Hugh Taylor Birch wanted to preserve his estate for future generations to enjoy—it’s an oasis perfect for relaxation and exercise. The park is a vibrant center for the community of Fort Lauderdale, and residents take pleasure in activities from rollerblading to reading under the shade of palms and oaks.
Visitors can access the beach via the pedestrian tunnel under A1A. Picnic areas overlook the channel; pavilions with water and electricity are available for rental. A group/youth campground is available to organized groups. The Terramar Visitor Center features displays regarding the area's natural and cultural history.
