The Beara Way in 3 Minutes
The Beara Way is a long-distance footpath in the south west of Ireland. It is a circular route of 205km that begins and ends at Glengarriff on Bantry Bay. The walk encompasses stunning mountain ranges, historic islands, archaeological sites, and colourful coastal villages. This short video will give you an insight into this diverse and wonderful trail!

Stephen Sheehy captures the wild beauty of the Beara Peninsula, hiking the stunning Beara Way.
The Beara Way along the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland is one of the most beautiful walking routes in the country. Hikers are spoiled with superb coastal and mountain views along the Beara Peninsula.
This remote walking route is full of unique flora and fauna as the area is warned by the Gulf Stream.
This trail is extra special as it has the highest number of ancient monuments with 511 historical sites along the route. Every walking day you will see samples of historic Ogham stones and ancient sites used by the Celts, Spanish and British over the centuries. French and British over the past few centuries.
This Irish walking route also takes hikers to Ireland's only cable car at Dursey Island.
Beara's unique landscape and heritage make this hiking trail in the heart of the Wild Atlantic Way a walker's paradise.

The Ring Of Beara | Walking The Beara Way
The Beara Way runs for 206km around the Beara peninsula in the South West of Ireland. The circular loop is often started (and ended) in the coastal town of Glengarriff, sitting on the edge of Bantry Bay. It encompasses dramatic mountains, rugged coasts, wind-swept islands, awe-inspiring views, pristine lakes, profound archaeological sites and so much more.
Abbie walked the Way with Hillwalk Tours in August 2019 on their 11-day challenging itinerary and in this video she shares the highs and lows of her times on the trail. Please note that there are shorter and more gentle routes available via the Hillwalk Tours website:

'Heavy weather' voor een zeer pittig traject. Gekozen voor een (gedeeltelijke) omweg via de R571. Maar bij Lough Inchuiquin, voor Feorus East ,waren we terug op de E8. Achteraf gezien best link: in storm en regen konden we bergopwaarts alleen met hulp van de stokken overeind blijven. En dan nog met moeite. Maar het is allemaal gelukt, we hebben veilig Kenmare bereikt.
