Josh Prince Presents New York at Hudson Valley Dance Festival 2019
Unique performances have been added to this year’s diverse program of world-class dance at Hudson Valley Dance Festival on Saturday, October 12, 2019. This unforgettable day of dance in Catskill, NY, is produced by and benefits Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Dance Lab New York, which will hold a creative retreat this fall at the Petronio Residency Center in nearby Greene County presenting original dances. The pieces will be choreographed by artistic director Josh Prince (Beautiful - The Carole King Musical).
Hudson Valley Dance Festival (#hvdance) features shows at 2 pm and at 5 pm. Set amid upstate New York’s picturesque fall foliage in a park overlooking the Hudson River, the festival will again transform a restored 19th century warehouse into a modern dance venue at Historic Catskill Point.
Tickets start at $40 and are on sale now at dradance.org or by calling 212.840.0770, ext. 229. Sponsorship opportunities start at $275. VIP tickets include a cocktail reception at Historic Catskill Point and a locally sourced dinner with the dancers.
A special daytrip package from New York City offers luxury round-trip bus transportation, a guided tour of Olana State Historic Site, a champagne luncheon, a ticket to the 2 pm performance and a complimentary cocktail reception after the show. Olana is an historic estate and former home to Frederic Edwin Church, one of the major figures in the Hudson River School of landscape painting.
Over the event’s six years, Hudson Valley Dance Festival has raised $764,724. The support helps Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS provide grants to AIDS and family service organizations nationwide, including 13 based in the Hudson Valley: Albany Damien Center and Alliance for Positive Health in Albany, Animalkind, Columbia-Greene Community Foundation and Hudson Valley SPCA in Hudson, Matthew 25 Food Pantry and Community Hospice in Catskill, Hudson Valley Community Services in Hawthorne, Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center in Kingston, Rock Steady Farm in Millerton, Roe Jan Food Pantry in Hillsdale, TOUCH (Together Our Unity Can Heal) in Congers and Troy Area United Ministries in Troy.

Dancers Responding to AIDS relies on the extraordinary compassion and efforts of the performing arts community to fund a safety net of social services for those in need. As a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, DRA supports the essential programs of The Actors Fund, including the HIV/AIDS Initiative and The Dancers' Resource, as well as more than 450 AIDS and family service organizations in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.

Oklahoma City—Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre continues their Twelfth Season with the the revealing drama, RED. This production provides a rare glimpse of an artist through the lens of his relationship with his naïve young assistant, who must choose between appeasing his mentor—and changing the course of art history. When his assistant challenges his artistic integrity, Rothko must confront his own demons or be crushed by the ever-changing art world he helped create. While the name Rothko may not have been a part of your consciousness, his works surely have. The acclaimed Donmar Warehouse production transferred to Broadway and won 6 Tony Awards, including Best Play of 2010.This production is rated R
Starring in the CityRep production are D. Lance Marsh (August:Osage County, Hay Fever, Our Town and Moonlight and Magnolias) as artist Mark Rothko and Chicago-based actor Aaron Werthiem (Lysistrta and The Last Night of Ballyhoo) as his young assistant, Ken. Carole King
Carole King (born February 9, 1942) is a Grammy Award-winning American singer and songwriter.
Her career began in the 1960s when King, along with her then husband Gerry Goffin, wrote more than two dozen chart hits for numerous artists, many of which have become standards, and she has continued writing for other artists since then. King's success as a performer in her own right did not come until the 1970s, when she sang her own songs, accompanying herself on the piano, in a series of albums and concerts. After experiencing commercial disappointment with her debut album Writer, King scored her breakthrough with the album Tapestry which topped the U.S. album chart for 15 weeks in 1971 and remained on the charts for more than six years.

We Three Kings of Orient Are
Slideshow of the Epiphany song We Three Kings of Orient Are sung by Jennifer Avalon, accompanied by the lyrics (in English). Both the lyrics and the music were written by John Henry Hopkins, Jr. circa 1857, then an ordained deacon in the Episcopal Church, who was instrumental in organizing an elaborate holiday pageant (which featured this song) for the students of the General Theological Seminary in New York City while serving as the seminary's music director. In 1872, Hopkins was ordained an Episcopal priest and later served as rector at Christ Episcopal Church, Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
The song tells the story of the Magi (found in Matthew 2) traveling to visit to the Christ Child, guided only by the Star of Bethlehem.

From “Someone to Watch Over Me” to “I Will Survive,” from the codependence of “I Will Follow Him” to the anger of “These Boots are Made for Walking,” to the cynicism of “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” and finally to the strength of “Hero,” “RESPECT: A Musical Journey of Women” is told through Top-40 music in this timely off-Broadway new musical production. Combining excerpts of 60 songs with women’s own stories about finding dreams, lost love, relationship issues, entering the workforce, gaining independence and more.
All performances are held at the Mizel Arts and Culture Center (MACC), 350 S. Dahlia St., Denver, CO 80246. Swish is a gay-straight alliance that creates opportunities for all women and men to contribute their time, energy, and talents to furthering the LGBT rights movement. Swish envisions a world in which love is equal.
With more than 3,000 members internationally, Swish creates volunteer, advocacy, and educational opportunities for straight allies to make a difference in the LGBT rights movement. Founded a decade ago, Swish has evolved into a large, diverse community comprising people of every background, shoe size, hair color, and sexual identity.
Along with their award-winning annual appearances in the New York City Pride March (5-time nominee and 3-time award-winner by Heritage of Pride), Swish has participated in the Atlanta and LA Pride Marches and represented the United States delegation at the EuroPride 2008 events in Stockholm.
In 2009, Swish was the first organization to endorse the National Equality March in Washington, DC, for which they were named among the Best of Gay New York City by Time Out NY that year. Over the last four years, Swish volunteers have logged hundreds of phone-banking and canvassing hours with state coalitions to win marriage equality in NY, RI, ME, MD, and WA - DE, MN and IL are next! This year, Swish joined Google as an honoree at Marriage Equality USA's national gala to receive their 2013 Community Partner Award.

Director Marianne Elliott and playwright Simon Stephens discuss adapting Mark Haddon's best-selling novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time to create a powerful stage production that The New York Times calls one of the most fully immersive works ever to wallop Broadway. They are joined by Broadway newcomer Alex Sharp, who plays the lead role of a 15-year-old, special needs child, giving an unforgettable performance that requires him to be on stage virtually every moment of this compelling play.

Theater Talk is a series devoted to the world of the stage. It began on New York television in 1993 and is co-hosted by Michael Riedel (Broadway columnist for the New York Post) and series producer Susan Haskins.
The program is one of the few independent productions on PBS and now airs weekly on Thirteen/WNET in New York and WGBH in Boston. Now, CUNY TV offers New York City viewers additional opportunities to catch each week's show. (Of course, Theater Talk is no stranger to CUNY TV, since the show is taped here each week before its first airing on Thirteen/WNET.)
The series is produced by Theater Talk Productions, a not-for-profit corporation and is funded by contributions from private foundations and individuals, as well as The New York State Council on the Arts.
