Arkansas Bridge Bends Under the Weight of Bus Crossing Over It
A bystander caught the terrifying moment a bus crossed a bridge in Arkansas, causing the old structure to visibly bend under its weight. It happened on the Beaver Bridge, a historic Ozarks landmark known as the “Little Golden Gate.” The 75-year-old bridge has a weight limit of 10 tons, and the bus weighed more than three times that! Other drivers honked to warn the bus driver, but there was no turning back. Fortunately, the bus reached the other side safely.
Exploring Arkansas November 2016
The historic swinging bridge built in 1914 on Sylamore Creek north of Mountain View continues to be a family gathering place for picnics and reunions..plus serving as a popular swimming and fishing hole. In 1930 when a 820-pound meteorite fell to the earth near Paragould, it put the town into history and science books -at the time it was the largest meteorite ever to be seen in its descent. The town of Beaver in northwest Arkansas has one of the most picturesque landmarks in the state - the Little Golden Gate Bridge, which the locals call-the bridge to nostalgia. An artistic couple in Eureka Springs have turned their house and property into a real life fantasy land, with unique fairy tale architecture. The 1856 historic Smyrna Church west of Searcy, happens to be the oldest documented church building in the state. It's also one of only five antebellum churches still standing in Arkansas.

White River Bridge at Newport, Arkansas
The old historic White River Bridge (Blue Bridge) built in 1930 is about to be replaced with a new bridge just on the down-river side of it. Very bumpy ride going across this old bridge, had a hard time keeping the camera steady. This is on SH 367 coming into Newport, kept recording until we stopped at a red light at the library and church. August 17th 2014

▶︎ Away From The Hustle Of Branson Or Eureka Springs
I love a good trip to Branson or Eureka Springs but sometimes no matter how much you enjoy the get away itself it is nice to not be staying as close to the action. That is where “Beavertown” comes into play and the Beaver RV Park and Campground is the perfect quiet little escape from it all. This place is just a short distance from both of the larger cities which offer a variety of commercial tourism options.
You are close enough to Table Rock Lake and Beaver Lake to haul out the canoe or boat, in the heart of the Ozark Mountains where you can find hiking to numerous to even attempt to mention all the trails and my personal favorite, from this location you are just moments away from two of the best kept secrets in Arkansas, Rogues Castle and the Little Golden Gate Bridge.
When I was staying at another location they actually advised me to check this place out for my travel blog and what I found was a quiet little campground with limited sites which had the perfect background of the Ozarks. This place is so quaint that there are less than 100 residents and it has been the site of several movie and tv show appearances including Elizabethtown the Blue and the Gray.
I learned all of this from talking to the more than friendly campground host which greeted me upon my arrival and told me a really fascinating history of the area. You have to have a chat if you visit!
The campground, itself was shady and almost like a post card. There were amenities there including picnic tables and fire rings, typical of all campgrounds but also there was accessibility to ice and cold drinks. RV sites had electrical connections and a dump station and I noticed that they seemed pretty long.
The site I chose was close to the water and near the swimming beach. While I didn’t take advantage I preferred the view and it was not crowded because of the time of year I was there so it made for a perfect place to have my coffee in the morning.
I normally take this time to start listing any...

This is a really fun four miles, just east of Rogers, AR.
After crossing the bridge over Beaver Lake there are dozens of nice curves in the next 3 - 4 miles. It's much more scenic in the summer.
