A short little video showing just a few of the things this little town has to offer. The entire county of Bedford has a population of just under 50,000. The town of Bedford is 2,841. Bedford was settled in right around 1751. It is also home of Old Bedford Village. Bedford, at one time, was famous for its medicinal springs. There is a mineral springs, a chalybeate spring, a limestone spring, a sulfer spring and two sweet springs. So many interesting things have happened in the history of this little town. This is located in the small town of Bedford, Va. which had the unfortunate designation as the locality in the United States with the highest per-capita deaths in WW2. 19 Bedford soldiers died in the first 15 minutes once they hit Omaha Beach.

Va. town remembers the high price paid on D-Day
(20 May 2019) The 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy has a solemn significance for a small Virginia town.
Bedford lost 20 local men in the fighting on D-Day.
The decisive World War II battle on June 6, 1944, took a horrific toll on the town of about 4,000 in a county of about 30,000.
Its D-Day losses have long been considered among the steepest, proportionally, of any community in the U.S.
The town is home to the National D-Day Memorial Center.
And author Alex Kershaw detailed the town's sacrifice in his 2003 bestselling book The Bedford Boys.
A couple recently opened a tribute centre to the Bedford Boys in town in the same site where a popular drugstore used to be.
Director Ken Parker fondly narrates tales of Lieutenant Ray Nance, who was the last survivor of the Bedford Boys.
Marguerite Cottrell still remembers the summer day 75 years ago when a Western Union telegram was delivered to her family farm as her mother was hanging clothes on the line to dry.
Her mother read it, sat down and started weeping.
Cottrell's older brother, John Reynolds, had been killed in the D-Day invasion of Normandy on the coast of France.
Twenty Bedford men were killed on D-Day. Nineteen fell while attempting to take Omaha Beach, members of Company A of the 116th Infantry Regiment.
Another man who died there was in a different company.
