Boulder Beer's Story:
In 1979 two professors at the University of Colorado received the 43rd brewing license issued in the United States, creating Boulder Beer Company, Colorado's First Microbrewery. The original site of the brewery was a small farm northeast of Boulder, the brew house sharing space in a shed originally housing a few goats!
In a world of light yellow lagers, Boulder Beer won industry and consumer accolades for its line of bold Boulder Beers: Boulder Porter, Stout and Extra Special Bitter. Five years later, the brewery moved to it's current site in Boulder and expanded from its original one-barrel brewing system to a 50-barrel brew house with top-of-the-line packaging equipment. In 1994 we converted the original tasting room to our full-menu pub and epic patio under the Flatirons.
Brewmaster David Zuckerman joined Boulder Beer in 1990, and soon introduced Colorado favorites Buffalo Gold and Singletrack Copper Ale, which are still popular today. Long time General Manager Jeff Brown became President of Boulder Beer in 2002, which was the same year that saw the packaged introduction of the innovative and widely heralded Hazed & Infused dry-hopped ale, an unfiltered dry-hopped amber ale. In 2003 Mojo India Pale hit the scene, and every year since then has ushered in new flavors and new styles of beer developed by our creative team of brewers, which often are on the cutting edge of craft brewing trends.
Our brewers continue to test boundaries with unique blends and combinations on our pilot brewing system and barrel-aged program. Stop in to our Pub for this week's Brewer's Choice and who knows, you could be sampling the first batch of The Next Big Thing!

Merit Award Winner: The RMH Group – Breckenridge Brewery and Farm House Restaurant
After multiple years of double-digit growth, Breckenridge Brewery outgrew it iconic brewery facility on Kalamath Street in Denver. Increased demand for its products and the need to provide more expansive dining amenities for local customers, the brewery began planning for a new 79, 150 square foot - three building complex to be located on a new 12-acre site in Littleton. The RMH Group was engaged as the project’s mechanical and electrical engineer for a brew house building with a brewing area, raw material storage, administrative area and tasting room – a production building housing a fermentation process area, bottling/canning and kegging areas, barrel cellar, barrel aging room, product storage and quality control lab – and a restaurant building.
H-VAC systems required sophisticated multiple heating and cooling zones to ensure that ambient conditions met the individual requirements of the processes contained within each space. Integrated building controls were implemented for the entire site to precisely control and monitor building temperature and humidity and to trend data over time. Controlling temperature and humidity in process spaces was complicated by a project goal to minimize energy consumption through low-energy-use H-VAC systems such as natural ventilation.

Trader Joes Opening
The Grocery Store Boom in Asheville continues with the opening of Trader Joe's on Merrimon Avenue Friday morning. It is a unique, neighborhood grocery store. This morning the crew let News 13's Victoria Dunkle in a little early to check out the food and beverages. Trader Joe's Store Captain, Collins Carson, says you will see some national brand, but most of the items carry the Trader Joe's label. He says that's because they try to buy direct from suppliers so they can keep prices low. To say hello to the new neighbors Carson and his team are featuring a special section showcasing local beer. The store will open with a Hawaiian Lei cutting this morning at 8:00 a.m. That keeps in the Trader Joe's nautical theme.Click here for more details on the store.
