SUMMARY
=======
Belfast (Irish: Béal Feirste) is a city in the United Kingdom and the capital city of Northern Ireland, on the banks of the River Lagan on the east coast of Ireland. It is the largest city in Northern Ireland and second largest on the island of Ireland. It had a population of 333,871 in 2015.By the early 1800s Belfast was a major port. It played a key role in the Industrial Revolution, becoming the biggest linen producer in the world, earning it the nickname Linenopolis. By the time it was granted city status in 1888, it was a major centre of Irish linen production, tobacco-processing and rope-making. Shipbuilding was also a key industry; the Harland and Wolff shipyard, where the RMS Titanic was built, was the world's biggest shipyard. It also has a major aerospace and missiles industry. Industrialisation and the inward migration it brought made Belfast Ireland's biggest city and it became the capital of Northern Ireland following the Partition of Ireland in 1922. Its status as a global industrial centre ended in the decades after the Second World War.
Belfast suffered greatly in the Troubles, and in the 1970s and 1980s was one of the world's most dangerous cities. However, the city is now considered to be one of the safest within the United Kingdom. Throughout the 21st century, the city has seen a sustained period of calm, free from the intense political violence of former years and has benefitted from substantial economic and commercial growth. Belfast remains a centre for industry, as well as the arts, higher education, business, and law, and is the economic engine of Northern Ireland. Belfast is still a major port, with commercial and industrial docks dominating the Belfast Lough shoreline, including the Harland and Wolff shipyard. It is served by two airports: George Best Belfast City Airport, and Belfast International Airport 15 miles (24 km) west of the city. It is listed by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC) as a Gamma minus global city.
Rory in Ireland: Episode 2
Video by Ian Wittenber.
In the second installment of “Rory in Ireland,” CrossFit Games host Rory McKernan learns more about the country’s deep history as he tours Dublin and travels to Belfast.
In Belfast, McKernan’s guide on the walking tour educates him about The Troubles, the 30-year ethno-nationalist conflict in Northern Ireland that took place in the late 20th century. When McKernan visits a wall that once separated two of the city’s neighborhoods to prevent violence, he stops to write a message of peace and love.
McKernan later visits Reebok CrossFit Northern Ireland, where he partakes in “probably one of the most fun warm-ups that I’ve ever done in my life,” involving burpee penalties and groups of athletes who run in circles holding hands. He’s struck by the camaraderie among the box’s members.
“One of the coolest things about going to Reebok CrossFit Northern Ireland was the fact that we had gotten this kind of doom-and-gloom story earlier in the day,” McKernan says. “And while (it) was definitely implied that it was getting better, it was also still very explicit that … people were still torn apart down the lines of Protestant and Catholic.”
However, after explaining that the gym is located in a very Protestant area, affiliate owner and head coach Andy Gausden introduces McKernan to a mix of Protestants and Catholics who are high-fiving, chest bumping and sweating together in class. Despite their differences, everyone is clearly a part of the same community.
“It’s beautiful,” McKernan says.

Industrialisation and the inward migration it brought made Belfast Ireland's biggest city and it became the capital of Northern Ireland following the Partition of Ireland in 1922. Its status as a global industrial centre ended in the decades after the Second World War of 1939–1945.
Belfast suffered greatly in the Troubles: in the 1970s and 1980s it was one of the world's most dangerous cities. However, a survey conducted by a finance company and published in 2016 rated the city as one of the safest within the United Kingdom. Everything is complicated by the sudden arrival of the Mexican Army led by a brutal Colonel whose face looks very familiar to the town priest.
Reviews:
A Town Called Hell is a wonderful western that takes place in Mexico, circa 1905. Telly Savalas plays a memorable role as a villain looking for a mysterious man named Augila. There is some good footage of hanging people. Telly Savalas's death scene is hilarious as it is brilliant. Martin Landau plays a jewish/mexican colonel who gets to wear a funny-looking brown mexican uniform, but no beanie. Robert Shaw, known for his classic performance as Quint in Jaws, plays a priest.... or is he? Stella Stevens, a has-been, plays a blond prostitute. There are some good action scenes and Johnny Horton's The Battle Of New Orleans can be heard in the soundtrack in a flashback scene at a mexican dance party. A man hiding underneath a deck tries to obtain a fallen coin above with a stick. A satired attack on a church opens up the film. Everything in it is fabulous. This is a hard to find film, along with 2 other mexican western classics, Blood and Guns and Villa Rides. See it, you'll laugh yourself silly. written by MovieMan-112
