Bangalore cinematic Travel Film | Foot On Earth
Bengaluru, also spelled Bengalooru, formerly Bangalore, city, capital (since 1830) of Karnataka state, southern India. Bengaluru is one of India’s largest cities.
The city’s nucleus was a settlement around a mud fort, built in 1537 by a local chief, Kempe Gowda. The fort was reconstructed of stone in 1761. Bangalore was the headquarters of the British administration from 1831 to 1881, when the raja was restored. However, Britain retained an administrative and military presence in the city until Indian independence in 1947. Bangalore subsequently became the capital of the new state of Mysore and remained the capital during the reorganization of states in 1956; Mysore was renamed Karnataka in 1973.
From the late 20th century the city became a centre of high-technology industry (notably ICT), and a number of large multinational technology corporations opened offices there. In addition, major domestic firms such as Infosys and Wipro established headquarters in the city. In 1998 an ICT park opened in what was then the suburb of Whitefield, about 10 miles (16 km) east of central Bengaluru. As a self-contained city with hundreds of technology, software, and telecommunications companies, the park became known as the Silicon Valley of India. It became a district of Greater Bengaluru in 2007. The rapid growth of ICT-related activities in the area, however—encouraged by continued government subsidies—contributed to a decline in small- and medium-scale manufacturing industries there.

LUXURIOUS Indian APARTMENT TOUR near Cubbon Park | Bengaluru, India
I truly believe India is a place everyone must visit at some point in their life. The kindness and warmth of its people, the richness and intrigue of its history, and the explosive flavors of its food are all unparalleled. I am thrilled that I’ve gotten to explore this country not once, but twice, so far, and that I got to share my second trip around the Subcontinent with my buddy Sam from Sam & Audrey.
Subscribe to Sam & Audrey:
With our epic, seven-city trip through India now past its halfway point, Sam and I settled into our new digs in the city of Bengaluru (formerly known as Bangalore) after a long flight from Amritsar in the north. I personally prefer to go the Airbnb route when I travel through India so I don’t have to deal with the hassles of a hotel. Join us as we take you on a tour of our Airbnb in the city!
My Film Making Kit ►
In Bengaluru, Sam and I stayed at Casa LaVelle, a luxury apartment complex in the CBD, or Central Business District, of the city, not far from Cubbon Park and Church Street, which we explored in previous videos. Our unit was B2, which was on the second floor of the complex. This apartment has everything you could possibly want: two stories, two bedrooms, to bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a dining room, a washer, a terrace, and internet!
Inside the living room is a small lounge couch, a larger couch, a TV, some books, and two very comfortable wicker chairs. Just off the living room is my favorite feature of the apartment, the open-air terrace, which contains a small table and four small chairs and looks out at the greenery and neighboring buildings outside. The temperature on the terrace is about fifteen degrees cooler than the temperature outside!
Also, off the living room is a smaller, second level that contains a dining table and a washing machine where we were able to wash all of our dirty clothes and a fire extinguisher.
Also on this level is a standard Indian bathroom, where the shower and toilet are not separate from each other, and the first bedroom, which was Sam’s. The room is spacious and had a queen-sized bed, a desk area, and a cabinet that came stocked with towels, bedding, clothing hangers, extra keys, and extra pillows.
The next room on this level is the kitchen, which is small but perfect. It had two burners where you can cook, as well as a filtered water dispenser, a microwave, and cabinets and shelves loaded with cups, mugs, plates, glasses, utensils, and extra toilet paper, which you’ll definitely need in India! The fridge is out in the dining area, along with the internet modem.
Next, I take you upstairs to my bedroom, which is another very spacious room with a queen-sized bed. The bed was a little hard, but I like hard beds, and the pillow was soft but not too soft. There was also a desk area where I had all of my electronics out and plugged up, and the room was spacious enough for me to have all of my luggage open on the floor and still not be in the way. My room also had a nice walk-in closet, which had enough room for more luggage, and shelves with extra blankets. My bathroom was standard, just like Sam’s, and had a sink, toilet, shower, and water heater.
I highly recommend you stay at Casa LaVelle if you ever come to Bengaluru. It’s centrally located, very spacious, came stocked with anything you could need and more and was very comfortable.

GLORIOUS Southern INDIAN Breakfast at Vidyarthi Bhavan + Flower Market Tour | Bengaluru, India
Of all the places I’ve visited in the last decade or so, India is one of the most incredible. It’s difficult to find words that truly express just how much I love this country, its people, and its food. This place is absolutely magical, and I urge everyone to come here at least once in their lifetime. This video is from my second trip to India in November of 2018, which I got to experience with my buddy Sam from Sam & Audrey.

After whirlwind stops in the cities of Pune, Hyderabad, and Amritsar, our adventures through India continued in Bengaluru, formerly known as Bangalore! After landing in the city well after midnight and only nabbing a few hours of sleep, Sam and I were back at it with a magnificent southern Indian breakfast at a 75-year-old local restaurant and a tour of a local flower market with our new friend Anashwara! Come along with us as we begin our exploration of Bengaluru!
My Film Making Kit ►
We began our day by meeting up with Anashwara and heading over to Vidyarthi Bhavan, an amazing restaurant that has been in business since 1943. We had a one-hour wait until we could get inside, so Anashwara gave us a quick tour of a colorful local market that puts out fresh flowers, fruits, and vegetables early in the morning and is particularly active during the festive season.
As we explored the market, Anashwara explained that a lot of the flowers come from the outskirts of Bengaluru and that many people here use flowers for worship. She also told me about a custom where white, red, and green garlands of flowers are put around one another during marriages. I watched a woman making one of these garlands and estimated that it must take her about an hour to complete one.
After 40 minutes of exploring the market, we returned to the restaurant and we went inside, hungry after our trip around the market. The waiters here carry huge stacks of plated dosas, balanced on their arm, around the restaurant and pass them out. It’s amazing to see!
We ordered some large puris, a potato curry, idli, vada, and more. I couldn’t wait to dig in! The puri with the potato curry was amazing with the spices and peppers and wasn’t spicy at all. Next, I tried the coconut chutney, which I loved because it was spicy and gave a nice contrast to the rather bland flavor of the puri, followed by the idli with some sambar and coconut chutney. It was an incredible flavor combination, with the light, tomato flavor from the sambar and the spice and sweetness from the coconut chutney!
Up next, I tried the vada, which was soaking in a plate of sambar. I dipped it in a bit more and wow! The vada soaked up the sambar like a sponge! It was like a tomato doughnut. Then I tried the vada with the coconut chutney and reached new levels of flavor heaven! It was unreal! Next, we went with two dishes I hadn’t had yet, kara bath, a savory and spicy rava (or semolina) dish, and kesari bath, which is a sweet rava dish. The kara bath was almost like a polenta, and the kesari bath was super sweet. The two are eaten together to balance each other out.
Finally, I tried the main star of the breakfast: the dosa! It was thick and covered in ghee, a clarified butter used in Indian cuisine. Inside was a traditional potato filling. The combination of the dosa, ghee, coconut chutney, and sambar was a massive flavor and texture explosion in my mouth! It was flaky and crispy on the outside and soft and spongy on the inside. This was one of my favorite dosas I’ve ever had!
Next we tried a filtered Karnataka coffee that becomes frothy when you pour it back and forth from your cup to the little bowl that comes with it. It was fantastic and reminded me of a Cuban coffee called Cortadito.
When you come to Bengaluru, you have to check out Vidyarthi Bhavani! The food here is out of this world. Just get here early! It opens at 6:30 a.m.
I hope you enjoyed joining us for one of my favorite Indian breakfasts ever and our flower market tour! If you did, please give this video a thumbs up and leave me a comment below! And please subscribe to my channel to get all the new videos when they drop!
