GERMANY: BERLIN: ADOLF HITLER'S BUNKER COMPLEX
English/Nat
On the 10th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, a construction crew in the city has uncovered what's believed to be part of Adolf Hitler's bunker complex.
Bulldozers were digging up a road when the discovery was made.
Berlin Tour Guide Paul Wagle says he's certain it's part of an underground complex where Hitler committed suicide on April 30, 1945.
He's dismissed claims that the concrete uncovered is part of sewage passage.
Hitler moved into the Führerbunker, located deep under the Chancellery buildings in the month of his death.
In this underground complex containing nearly thirty rooms on two separate floors, it's thought he held daily briefings with his generals, amid reports of the unstoppable Soviet advance into Berlin.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Here behind these yellow construction fences on the 76th anniversary of the beef hall pledge and the 61st anniversary of Kristallnacht (the Night of Broken Glass, when Nazis destroyed more than 250 synagogues throughout Germany) while the 10th anniversary proceeding of the wall falling just behind us, they're silently digging up Hitler's bunker right behind this wall. The sand filled remains of the bottom 17 rooms - the place where Adolf Hitler committed suicide on April 30th 1945 is being exposed right now. I've been told it sewage passage way but I believe it's the remains of Adolf Hitler's bunker.
SUPER CAPTION: Paul Wagle, Berlin Tour Guide
SOUNDBITE: (English)
I saw some pictures of this area in 1990 when they cleared area - the only thing remaining was the walls around the 17 rooms, barely exposed from the sand filled foundations here. And it's exactly on a line straight out from that building. I looked at these pictures. Herr (Mr.) Misch, who was here on May 2nd 1945, shortly before the Soviets discovered the bunker, one of the last S-S officers, one of the last three S-S officers showed me where he'd remembered the bunker to be and pictures of the area in 1990 - that's why I'm pretty sure that's Hitler's bunker.

HITLERS TERRIBLE TOWER - Giant World War 2 Anti Aircraft Flak Tower
World War 2 was a dark time for the planet. Racism was rampant, and people were being killed. This tower is one of the 8 complexes that Hitler had constructed to help protect major cities against and allied air attack during world war two. The Flakturms were extremely effective. Watch as I fly my drone around the towers and you can see all of its history in 4K.
This is the drone I used for this video:

The Site of Hitler's Bunker
In early 1945, as Allied armies advanced on Berlin and Nazi Germany lay in ruins, Hitler and his staff retreated to a bunker complex behind the former Reich Chancellery. He stayed there for two months. It was here that, as the Soviet army tightened its noose on the capital, Hitler and Eva Braun, his wife of less than 48 hours, committed suicide on April 30, 1945. A week later, the war in Europe was over. There's nothing here except for a simple info board with a detailed cutaway illustration of the bunker complex plus a timeline tracing its history and ultimate fate. Germany: Nazi-era architecture lingers today
A number of iconic Nazi-era buildings still stand in Berlin today; the Olympic stadium where Hitler gave his fiery speeches is now home of the Hertha Berlin football team.
They’ve been preserved and repurposed in a conscious effort to keep Germany’s history alive and honour the debate they inspire about guilt and memory of the Nazi era.
Al Jazeera’s Dominic Kane reports from Berlin, Germany.

STORYLINE:
Hitler's bunker in Berlin, where he saw out the last days of the Third Reich, has never had an official sign marking its location - until now.
Two days before the World Cup brings together nations competing as friends rather than enemies, a Berlin historical society has decided to unveil a plaque to mark the spot.
After years of research the Berlin society Berliner Underworld unveiled an information board, which for the first time officially marks the location of Hitler's bunker.
Berliner Underworld said the aim is to tell Germans and tourists the truth about this place and what happened here.
This is where Adolf Hitler killed himself on April 30th 1945 as Soviet troops bludgeoned their way from the outskirts of the city towards the Reichstag.
Trees and a parking lot now mark the area. It looks innocent enough, but beneath lies Hitler's lair.
Rochus Misch, was a former telephonist for Adolf Hitler who lived and worked in the bunker during the last days of the Nazi regime.
He witnessed almost everything that went on there and remembers the moment Magda Goebbels, wife of former Hitler propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels poisoned their children. Goebbels and his wife then committed suicide.
Misch used to give guided tours of the bunker, but at 88 he's says he's now too old. But he wants the story to be told, so that people never forget what happened here.

Hitler's Abandoned Nazi Resort
In 1939, Adolf Hitler ordered the construction of a massive 3-mile-long row of buildings, destined to be an enormous beach resort for Nazi Germany. It was abandoned three years later, when World War II broke out. It would sit empty for the next 75 years. Today, German real estate company Metropole Marketing plans to convert several blocks into luxury homes and hotels.

Nazi Time Capsule Berlin Bunker
The discovery of an intact, untouched WW2-era bunker in 1990 from the Battle of Berlin was news, but even more incredibly it was the Driver's Bunker, part of the Reich Chancellery complex close to Hitler's personal bunker. What was found inside was truly astounding.
This is a re-upload of one of my Battle of Berlin videos from 2018.
