Bethlehem Chapel ,Prague
It was founded in 1391 by Wenceslas Kriz (known as 'the Merchant'), and John of Milheim, and taught solely in the Czech vernacular, thus breaking with German domination of the Medieval Bohemian church. The building was never officially called a church, only a chapel, though it could contain 3,000 people; indeed, the chapel encroached upon the parish of Sts. Philip and James, and John of Milheim paid the pastor of that church 90 grossi as compensation. Hus became a rector and a preacher in March 1402. After Hus's excommunication in 1412, the Pope ordered the Bethlehem chapel to be pulled down, although this action was rejected by the Czech majority on the Old Town council. After Hus's death, he was succeeded by Jacob of Mies.

Bethlehem Church in Praque John Hus used to preached.
Jan Hus, Hus also spelled Huss (born c. 1370, Husinec, Bohemia [now in Czech Republic]—died July 6, 1415, Konstanz [Germany]), the most important 15th-century Czech religious Reformer, whose work was transitional between the medieval and the Reformation periods and anticipated the Lutheran Reformation by a full century.

The Old Town of Prague (Czech: Staré Město pražské) is a medieval settlement of Prague, Czech Republic. It was separated from the outside by a semi-circular moat and wall, connected to the Vltava river at both of its ends. The moat is now covered up by the streets (from north to south-west) Revoluční, Na Příkopě, and Národní—which remain the official boundary of the cadastral community of Old Town. It is now part of Prague 1.
METROPROJEKT Praha a.s. - Czech Transport Construction of the year 2015
The 13th national Czech Transport Construction/Technology/Innovation of the year competition took place on the 16th June in a full Bethlehem Chapel in Prague’s Old Town.
The aim of the competition is to make effective professional presentations in the fields of Czech transport infrastructure and engineering professions not only to the general and professional public, but also to representatives of Czech and European politics.
The main climax of the gala evening was the awards ceremony for Czech transport infrastructure, technology and innovation to representatives of the most successful companies.
The award has been won for the Extension of Metro line A in Prague on the section “Five A” from Dejvice station through to Motol Hospital.
I’d like to invite Mr Milan Veselský to the podium, the Sales Director of the company Metrostav, the head contractor and supplier for the project. Could Mr Jan Šurovský come up too, the technical director of Prague’s public transport agency, Dopravního podniku hlavního města Prahy, the project’s client... and Mr David Krása, managing director of Metroprojekt Praha.
Next to the podium will be Mr Jiří Havelka to award the prize of the main partner of the competition, the bank Československá obchodní banka or CSOB. The CSOB prize has been awarded for the construction project: Giving wheelchair access to the Metro station I. P. Pavlova.
Could Mr David Krása, managing director of Metroprojekt Praha please come to the podium.
We can now look at the award-winning construction projects in more detail.
The extension of line A of the Prague Metro by 4 stations is one of the most significant recent improvements in public transport for inhabitants of Prague and visitors alike. The extension is 6,136 metres long and all the new stations have wheelchair access.
The first new station was Bořislavka. It’s a single-section bored station 193 metres long at a depth of 27 metres below ground level. The station is in the near proximity of a busy street, so it has relieved the jammed streets significantly.
The station Nádraží Veleslavín is unique in its design and in the shape of bored section. The triple-vaulted shape of the platforms gives the station a robust look. The platforms are 19.4 metres below ground level. The station Nádraží Veleslavín connects the metro with the bus to Prague’s international Václav Havel airport. It connects not only with other buses, but also trains from the train station at Nádraží Veleslavín. It’s an important transport hub, which relieves jammed roads and makes journeys to the airport quicker.
Petřiny station is a single-section station, 217 metres long. The platforms are 35 metres below ground level featuring a spacious design – a bubble made of aesthetic concrete, with the name of the station. The surface of the construction is located in a residential area, making demands on not only the aesthetics but also the environmental impact of the construction.
The station Nemocnice Motol. This construction is currently the last and extremely visible station of the new section. Moreover it is of real benefit for those needing to get quickly with wheelchair access to the extensive premises of the Motol hospital.
It is the only station on the new section with two side platforms. The station was built by excavating from the surface, is 217 metres long and is 5.6 metres below ground level. The load-bearing structure is of technical and aesthetic interest, with a glass-roof shell above the platform. The system is made up of 39 reinforced-concrete prefabricated arched beams, which are tied and secured by cables. The shape of the beams takes into account the rising slope on the north side and the adjacent street on the south side. This means that each beam has a different length and geometry. The design engineer and the manufacturer had to deal with millimetre precision in dimensions and with high demands on the surface appearance. There is an atrium below platform level, which connects the station extremely elegantly to the main entrance buildings of Motol hospital.
Another construction to receive an award, this time right in the centre of Prague, was providing the metro station I. P. Pavlova with wheelchair access. This was a unique engineering and architectural design, which provided this highly-frequented station with wheelchair access. Extensive work had to be done while the metro was in operation with minimum disruption to passengers. The metro now has wheelchair access to the series of lifts connecting to the ground floor of the block of flats on the extremely busy Legerova street. The entrance and exit to and from the lift is directly on pavement level.

VARS BRNO a.s. - Czech Transportation Construction - Technologies of 2013
On the 16th June the award ceremony of the Czech Transportation Construction - Technologies - Innovation 2013 took place in a packed Bethlehem chapel in Prague's Old Town. The goal of this prestigious competition is to present the improving quality of transportation infrastructure.
This year, the 11th successive year of this competition, took place under the austices of the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, the Dean of the Czech Technological University in Prague, the Minister for Transportation and other important individuals.
The shareholding company, VARS BRNO was the winner of Category B - Czech Transportation Technologies. In addition, VARS BRNO was awarded the company prize for the development of road transportation.
The main segment which the VARS company is involved in is transportation. In this segment it provides a comprehensive software solution for the ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) division and for the Road asset management.
An example is the modular system, SMARTiC, which can be used for the collection, processing and visualization of data. This unique system can receive data from external sources, such as the police or the ambulance services, but also from telematic devices such as detectors and camera systems and can send them on to the traffic control centre.
As a result, SMARTiC can generate pre-defined traffic situations, control traffic via variable message signs and provide drivers with traffic information. The collected data is no less important for modelling traffic situations and statistical evaluations.

Statue of St. George (Prague Castle)
The equestrian statue of St. George on horseback
The bronze equestrian statue of St.. George fighting the dragon in the third courtyard of Prague Castle made in 1373 the brothers Martin and George from Cluj. It is one of the most important Czech Gothic sculptures in bronze. The statue was damaged in the 1541 fire at the Prague Castle, which offended her right hand and she had to be re-welded. Another statue hit by accident in 1562, when it climbed to the audience to see the jousting tournament, sculpture degenerated and broken off the horse's head. Currently, the courtyard is a copy of the statue, the original is stored in the National Gallery. Another copy is in the National Museum of Lapidary.

ISRAEL: GALILEE: POPE JOHN PAUL II OPEN AIR MASS (V)
Eng/Spanish/Nat
Voiced by Louise Bates
Speaking at an open-air mass in Galilee where Jesus delivered his Sermon on the Mount, Pope John Paul the Second asked young Catholics to spread Christian teachings of selfless love and forgiveness.
The pontiff's voice, unusually firm and clear, addressed a crowd of close to 100-thousand worshippers, who had come from around the world.
Tens of thousands of young Catholics travelled from dozens of different countries for the papal Mass in Galilee, where Christianity began.
0002 The Sea of Galilee is where Jesus preached his Sermon on the Mount and Christianity began.
Two thousand years on, the heavens smiled on the crowds gathered for the papal mass.
0010 Strong winds blew the Pope's skullcap from his head. But heavy rains lifted overnight, leaving the 21st century pilgrims muddy but strong in spirit.
0019 With bands playing and the crowd dancing, it looked like a religious rock concert.
0027 From a gray, thronelike chair on a stage overlooking the Sea of Galilee, Pope John-Paul said it was the turn of young Catholics to go out into the world and preach the message of the Ten Commandments.
The pope, who has sought to draw young people to the church throughout his 22-year papacy, tailored his homily to his youthful audience.
0046 After the open-air Mass, people from all over the globe said they were glad they had made the trip:
0052 SOUNDBITE: (English)
SUPER CAPTION: Clare Eugene Awang, Hawaii
SOUNDBITE: (Spanish)
0106 This young Spanish pilgrim said the Pope's visit was important because at the beginning of the third millennium the church needed to be rejuvenated, and young people had to be part of that.
SUPER CAPTION: Alberto Hernando, Spain
0115 Up to now, Arab-Israeli politics have dominated the Pope's tour of the Holy Land. In Galilee, the emphasis shifted to the sense of spiritual connection the ageing pontiff said he was seeking.
0126 And judging by the response, it was a connection shared by this huge crowd of young Christians.
