Little-known Lucas Glover held off thrilling charges by fellow Americans Phil Mickelson and David Duval to claim his first major title at the weather-delayed U.S. Open
Mickelson Has No Time to Dwell on U.S. Open Loss
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — Phil Mickelson sat in the second-floor locker room behind the 18th green and tied his shoelaces. The locker room that serves the Bethpage State Park golf courses is small and narrow, and when Mickelson stood, he bumped an attendant trying to gather a towel from the floor.

Oh, Im so sorry, Mickelson said.
Fifty yards away on the 18th green, Lucas Glover was celebrating his victory in the 109th United States Open. Mickelson finished two strokes back, and was in second place at the event for the fifth time.
Mickelson took a watch from his pocket and wrapped it around his wrist. He then shook hands with two locker room attendants and said: Thank you for everything. You guys do a great job. Im sorry we took an extra day of your time.
Mickelson removed his golf cap and walked to the simple mens room at the end of the hall. He splashed his face with water, pushed his wet hands through his hair and stared at the mirror above the white porcelain sink for a long second.
The golfer ceaselessly cheered for days at Bethpage Black, the overwhelming fan favorite, the player tied for the tournament lead with three holes to play, exhaled and made a small sound: Whew.
He then walked down a twisting back stairwell that led to a side kitchen exit. Mickelson made his way to the 18th green and the trophy presentation, where he received a silver medal along with his fellow second-place finishers, David Duval and Ricky Barnes. Mickelson stood in the sun and gazed around the vast grandstand, which erupted in applause at the mention of his name.
Later, in a news conference, Mickelson was asked if he had allowed himself to dream about what it would have been like to win in his return to Bethpage Black and in the last tournament he would play before his wife, Amy, begins breast cancer treatment.
Mickelson said that even when he eagled the 13th hole and vaulted into a tie for the lead, he tried not to think ahead. But standing on the green during the trophy presentation, his head turning side to side as he took in the scene, it was easy to imagine that Mickelson knew in that moment that the ceremony and the celebration could have been for him. Only louder.
His bags already in a silver Volvo, Mickelson started to work his way away from the clubhouse. About a hundred fans were calling to him from beyond a temporary railing. Though it was slightly out of his way, Mickelson walked toward them and began signing his name on tickets, hats, souvenir flags and anything else the surging crowd thrust toward him.
He answered questions, thanked fans, made jokes and smiled for pictures. He did this for 20 minutes until he began to drift in the direction of his car.
New York state troopers were making a path, but the fans just kept running ahead of the police corridor and Mickelson kept pausing to sign his autograph some more. Finally, Mickelson was past a gate and walking toward the very few cars in the players parking lot.
Give our love to Amy, a woman shouted to him.
I will, Mickelson answered, raising his voice so he could be heard.
He signed autographs for the state troopers, then shook each of their hands. Opening the car door, he sunk into the front passenger seat.
Mickelson took off his hat, wiped his right hand across his forehead and rubbed his eyes with his thumb and index finger. The car backed up and pulled away as fans straining behind a barricade waved in his direction and called his name.
Long Island
Long Island is an island in the U.S. state of New York. Stretching northeast from New York Harbor into the Atlantic Ocean, the island comprises four counties, including two (Kings and Queens) that form the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens, and two (Nassau and Suffolk) that are farther out on the island and mainly suburban. Although all four counties are part of the greater New York metropolitan area, the name Long Island is often reserved in popular usage for only Nassau and Suffolk counties, as distinct from those lying within New York City proper. North of the island is Long Island Sound, across which are the states of Connecticut and Rhode Island.
With a Census-estimated population of 7,740,208 in 2013, Long Island is the most populated island in any U.S. state or territory, and the 17th-most populous island in the world (ahead of Ireland, Jamaica, and Hokkaidō). Its population density is 5,402 inhabitants per square mile (2,086 /km2). If it were a U.S. state, Long Island would rank 13th in population (after Virginia) and first in population density.

Bethpage bikeway/Trailside bike path extension (NEW)
This is a short ride on the brand new Trailside bikeway extension north of the Bethpage parking area in Bethpage State Park. It is not yet officially open, but there are plenty of bikers already using it. I rode it north as far as Sunnyside Blvd and the LIE where is is still under construction. Since filling in the underpass of the original Bethpage Pky under the LIE some time ago, the new path runs along the service road west of Washington Ave.

The Lost Spirits Trailer
The Lost Spirits is a documentary following the lives of a Native American family living in Queens, New York. Over the years, many conflicts plagued their tribe and stirred up controversy within the town. It began with the removal of their family cemetery to build a
road in the 1930's. The artifacts and burial items were stolen. The acres of land they used to own was snatched by the government for back taxes, and the remaining land is landlocked by the surrounding owners. The Barron family, members of the Matinecock and Montaukett tribes, could never seem to get their voices heard. This film is to show who they are, what happened in their lives, and the future of the Indians in Little Neck, New York. visit.MaryeaMedia.com for more information.

Cash, weapons, Lamborghini seized in major drug bust in Queens, Brooklyn
Four suspects were arrested in Queens and Brooklyn overnight Wednesday in what is being described as a major drug bust.
The bust was the result of a long-running investigation that began with two overdose deaths involving fentanyl-laced heroin -- one in Bay Ridge in 2016 and one in Kew Gardens in May of 2017.
The alleged ringleader was identified as 35-year-old Dionne Sharrow (AKA Slay), who was arrested at his apartment in a luxury high-rise on 51st Avenue in Long Island City. Among the property seized there was a loaded firearm, approximately $500,000 in cash and a Lamborghini parked in the building's garage.
