Santa Anita Canyon 2019
The end of Cali's drought this year brought a lush, green forest to the canyon and it was so full of water. Hiked the lower and upper trail loop above the falls and then to Sturtevant Falls.
Monrovia Canyon Falls
For novice hikers, families or those just seeking some easy solitude, this 30' two-tier waterfall may just be the answer you've been looking for. Nestled in the beautiful Monrovia Canyon Park, this waterfall has several different trails with a variety of features and vistas that end right at the base of the falls. The shortest hike is only .75 mile from the parking area at the Nature Center. The trail is relatively level and follows the small creek flowing from the waterfall. Due to an underground spring, the falls flow consistently throughout the year. This continual supply of water also makes for a lush, dense riparian environment with a thick overhanging canopy to provide plenty of shade. Monrovia Falls Hike - Angeles National Forest, California
Monrovia Falls is one of the most delightful waterfalls experiences in the front range of the San Gabriels. At 30 feet tall, this year-around falls is not the biggest or most spectacular, but the splendid trail and picturesque scenery getting there makes the visit to the falls a real treat. And it's short: Three trailhead options give a range of distances from 1.5 miles round trip to 3.4 miles round trip.
The trail leads through several plant communities: coastal sage scrub, chaparral, oak woodland, and riparian. Along the hike you'll enjoy a canopy of coastal live oaks, canyon oaks, white alders, big leaf maple, and sycamore trees. Some of the biggest poison oak leaves I have ever seen are along the trial.

Cliff jumping at Hermit Falls in the San Gabriel Mountains 20 miles from Los Angeles
People in Los Angeles seeking a little respite from the big-city heat and hustle will struggle to find a more convenient half-day excursion than the hike to Hermit Falls in the San Gabriel Mountains. This very accessible hike starts a mere 20 miles from downtown LA and over the years has become something of a favorite with local hikers and nature-lovers . The Hermit Falls hike offers a cool, peaceful and leafy retreat that, on quieter days, boasts a feeling of remoteness that belies the 40-minute drive required to get there. As the name suggests, the trail also boasts a bit of a ‘bonus’ feature right in the middle — a 35-foot waterfall and a series of pools that seem custom-made for a paddle or plunge when temps are high.

Easy Waterfall Hike at Monrovia Canyon Park
2.6 miles, 680' elevation gain
My 3rd hike ever! Good, easy trail to follow and get the blood pumping. Easy for old, young, and four legged friends! The trail is well maintained, and it's a beautiful sight to see. The waterfall isn't much, but I thought the best part was hiking between the various trees and boulders. Hiked during end of September and there are gnats everywhere! Get your arms ready for shooing them away.

bonita falls lytle creek, Ca.
Bonita Falls is a set of waterfalls in the San Bernardino National Forest, formed by Bonita Creek, that is said to be 370[1] or 400 feet in height, but possibly up to 495 feet high because of two undocumented drops in the canyon above. It is the second tallest in the national forest, being surpassed only by 500-foot Big Falls. These two waterfalls are reputably the tallest in southern California.

Los Angeles Hiking | Wildwood Canyon Loop | Paradise Falls | Presented by Hikes You Can Do
Los Angeles hike Wildwood Canyon Loop and Paradise Falls at Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks California. Hike passed Mount Clef Ridge and up to Lizard Rock. Then hike on down to Paradise Falls but remember to stop by the Skunk Hollow picnic area and the Indian Cave. If you have time check out the Tee Pee display high on the hill. This is one of the best hikes in the Los Angeles area.
