NYC Biking - Central Park
On May 27th, 2013 my friend and I decided to take a bike ride through Manhattan, New York. I decided to wear a camera on my helmet so that I can record the beautiful ride, and these are the results! I decided to speed it up 2 times to make the film shorter. Enjoy!

USA: NEW YORK: MOTORCYCLE CONVENTION
English/Nat
Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts converged in New York Friday for three days of biker-mania.
The show features hundreds of bikes of all shapes and sizes -- and prices -- by big names such as Harley Davidson, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Ducati and BMW.
The expo also hosted a demonstration by off-road motorbike champions able from heights of 20 to 30 feet on their bikes.
Rev your engines, it's time to rumble.
The motorcycle expo hit New York's Javits Convention Center on Friday, and some 60,000 biking afficionados are expected to take a look.

On a man-made dirt battle ground of high speed straightaways, rain-braking hoop-tee-doos and humongous jumps, it's motorcycle racing, motorcycle show at the Javits Center! SUPER CAPTION: Larry Huffman, Motorcycle Expo Announcer Alongside
Alongside the chopper classics, you'll find the newer Harley Davidson models attracting a younger crowd.
The newest Harley cruising bike is the Deuce.
The hottest segment of the motorcycle industry right now is the cruiser market, with all the main manufacturers jumping in.
The newest -- and most luxurious -- touring bike is made by BMW, with a 6-disk CD changer, heated seats, electronic windshield, anti-lock breaks.
It costs roughly 20-thousand dollars.
A lot of women are buying cruisers because they have a low seat-height, are easier to handle than the sportbikes, and they are more comfortable.
But while cruising is comfortable, speed is sexy.
Capable of speeds up to 200 miles per hour, Suzuki's Hayabusa is probably the fastest on the market right now.
Named after the Japanese falcon, it still won't stop you from getting a speeding ticket in the United States.
Sportbikes attract a younger crowd, the majority being men.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Ego. They want the attention. Bikes have an outlaw image that a lot of guys like. A lot of doctors and lawyers ride them on the weekends.
SUPER CAPTION: Larry Huffman, Motorcycle Expo Announcer
Bikes at this show start at 5,000 dollars, for scooters, and can run up to 50,000, for the more luxury models.
But there are bikes for all shapes and sizes -- little bikes for children, to get them riding as soon as they can walk. This U-S off-road champion credits an early start for his biking success.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
I was almost born on a motorcycle. My mom went into labor when she was riding, so I was this close to being born on a bike. SUPER CAPTION: Jess Kempkes, U-S Off-Road Champion
One custom-made bike by Arlen Ness, which is owned by Harley Davidson, could cost the rider a quarter of a million US dollars.

Manhattan from 14th to 34th Streets, Midtown South, New York
There is a big fascinating chunk of New York's Manhattan that a lot of visitors don't see, between 34th Street and 14th Street, and we’re going to show you the highlights in this movie.
Click to Subscribe
In many ways it's the authentic, commercial heart of the city, but it's a part of the city that's not heavily visited by tourists. It would certainly be worth your while.
Just a mile from bottom to top, but we’ll take a winding route three times longer. We’ll start at Union Square and walk you north to 34th Street, giving you a taste of the real life of New York City, including Gramercy, Flatiron, NoMad and the pedestrian malls along Broadway.
You'll discover the contrasts of this Midtown South – coffee shops to relax, some famous landmarks, busy shopping streets, Koreatown, Asian imports. There are some characters on the street that you'll meet.
Hotel prices are a bit lower here. At the end we’ll have an extended sequence on rush-hour at Penn Station, 34th Street, but we start out in a much more quiet zone.
George Washington presides over Union Square in the spot where he met the public after the British evacuation in 1783.
The farmers market happens all day, year-round, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from about eight in the morning until 6 PM. You can see it's a big hit with the local residents.
Life for the New York worker who commutes home every day out to the suburbs is quite a bit different than the typical tourist experience in New York. Visitors have that luxury of staying put in Midtown or some nice hotel that is centrally located, and don't have to worry about fighting these crowds at rush-hour.
If you ever thought that living in New York would be a glamorous and exciting life, consider this: Perhaps it's pretty difficult. Rents in Manhattan are among the world's highest, so you would probably be commuting out of the suburbs like this every day.
However, you might be using Penn Station on arrival or departure from New York. Just try and avoid this rush-hour crowd if you can.

US Newspapers - New york today: a terror attack in manhattan
New york today: a terror attack in manhattan
The Police Department and other law enforcement officials at the scene in Lower Manhattan where a truck collided with a bus after striking people on a bike path. Bryan R. Smith for The New York Times Good morning on this drab Wednesday. A driver in a pickup truck killed eight people and injured 11 in Lower Manhattan on Tuesday, in what officials are calling an act of terrorism. At a news conference, Mayor Bill de Blasio expressed sympathy for the victims, but he also sounded defiant.“New Yorkers are strong, New Yorkers are resilient, and our spirit will never be moved by an act of violence, an act meant to intimidate us,” he said. Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo delivered a similar message, “Be New Yorkers and live your life, and don’t let them change or deter us in any matter, shape or form.” Many of those who were killed were tourists enjoying a sunny fall afternoon. Among them were five Argentines here for a high school reunion and a Belgian citizen, according to officials from those countries. Here’s what we know about the attack as of this morning. What A man in a Home Depot rental truck barreled down a bike bath near the Hudson River, striking pedestrians and cyclists before crashing the truck into a school bus, officials said. He jumped out of the vehicle with a pellet gun and a paintball gun in hand, shouted “Allahu akbar” “God is great” in Arabic and was shot by an officer, authorities said. When The attack began just after 3 p.m. Where The driver entered the West Side Highway bicycle path at Houston Street and began driving south. His truck collided with a school bus at Chambers Street, nearly a mile away. Who Officials identified Sayfullo Saipov, 29, who moved to the United States from Uzbekistan in 2010, as the driver of the truck. He had apparently lived in Paterson, N.J., and Tampa, Fla. After he was shot in the abdomen by the police, he was taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital. He remained in stable condition as of early Wednesday morning, according to the police. Why It is still not known what motivated the attack. Investigators found handwritten notes in Arabic near the truck that indicated allegiance to the Islamic State, but they are treating the episode as a case of an attack “inspired” by the group.
