The City of New York, most often called New York City, is the most populous city in the United States, in a metropolitan area that ranks among the world's most-populous urban areas. It is a leading global city, exerting a powerful influence over worldwide commerce, finance, culture, and entertainment. The city is also an important center for international affairs, hosting the United Nations headquarters. Located on the Atlantic coast of the Northeastern United States, the city consists of five distinct boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. It is the most densely populated major city in the United States, with an estimated 8,274,527 people occupying just less than 305 square miles (790 km2). The New York metropolitan area's population is also the nation's highest, estimated at 19,750,000 people over 6,720 square miles (17,400 km2) in three states. New York is largely unique among American cities for its high use of mass transit, and the overall density and diversity of its population. In 2005, nearly 170 languages were spoken in the city and 36% of its population was born outside the United States. The city is sometimes referred to as The City That Never Sleeps due to its extensive 24-hour subway system and constant bustling of traffic and people, while other nicknames include Gotham and the Big Apple. Founded as a commercial trading post by the Dutch in 1624, it served as the capital of the United States from 1785 until 1790, and has been the nation's largest city since 1790. The Statue of Liberty greeted millions of immigrants as they came to America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Wall Street, in Lower Manhattan, has been a dominant global financial center since World War II and is home to the New York Stock Exchange. Today, the city has many renowned landmarks and neighborhoods that are world famous. The city has been home to several of the tallest buildings in the world, including the Empire State Building and the twin towers of the former World Trade Center

A DAY AT THE BIG APPLE'S CENTRAL PARK IN NEW YORK, NEW YORK
It was a wonderful, cool, and sunny Saturday, on April 23, 2016. The Pepper Bird Magazine's Africa Teach-In Television Show's Roaming Camera was prowling the Big Apple Community in search community news, events, and/or activities to feature in a future television show.. Fortunately, The Pepper Bird Magazine has friends and supporters across the United States who often offer positive and helpful suggestion to our staff; and one of such suggestions was to hire a Pedi-dirver or horse driven buggy from around Time Square in Manhattan to take us sightseeing or just riding around the city. Heeding their suggestion, our staff were also fortunate to hire Pedi-driver and the only Gold Star Central Park Tour Guide, Moussa Fall (From Senegal, West Africa) for the job. Moussa Fall proved to be an excellent tour guide, who allowed us to record his presentation, and our rewarding tour experience, during our ride through NYC's Central Park. We extend sincere thanks and appreciation to Moussa Fall for his contribution to fulfill the continued mission and objective The Pepper Bird Magazine's Africa Teach-In Television Show to educate other around the world and in Rhode Island about the African and African American people, communities, and cultures,

New York is the most populous city in the United States and the center of the New York Metropolitan Area, one of the most populous metropolitan areas in the world. New York exerts a significant impact upon global commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment. As the home of the United Nations Headquarters, it is an important center for international affairs and is widely deemed the cultural capital of the world. The city is also referred to as New York City or the City of New York to distinguish it from the state of New York, of which it is a part.
Located on a large natural harbor on the Atlantic coast of the Northeastern United States, New York City consists of five boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. With a 2010 United States Census population of 8,175,133 distributed over a land area of just 305 square miles (790 km2), New York is the most densely populated major city in the United States. As many as 800 languages are spoken in New York, making it the most linguistically diverse city in the world. The New York City Metropolitan Area's population is the United States' largest, estimated at 18.9 million people distributed over 6,720 square miles (17,400 km2), and is also part of the most populous combined statistical area in the United States, containing 22.2 million people as of 2009 Census estimates.
New York traces its roots to its 1624 founding as a trading post by Dutch colonists and was named New Amsterdam in 1626. The city and its surrounds came under English control in 1664 and were renamed New York after King Charles II of England granted the lands to his brother, the Duke of York. New York served as the capital of the United States from 1785 until 1790. It has been the country's largest city since 1790. The Statue of Liberty greeted millions of immigrants as they came to America by ship in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Many districts and landmarks in New York City have become well known to outsiders. Times Square, iconified as The Crossroads of the World, is the brightly illuminated hub of the Broadway theater district, one of the world's busiest pedestrian intersections, and a major center of the world's entertainment industry.
The city hosts many world renowned bridges, skyscrapers, and parks. New York City's financial district, anchored by Wall Street in Lower Manhattan, functions as the financial capital of the world and is home to the New York Stock Exchange, the world's largest stock exchange by total market capitalization of its listed companies. Manhattan's real estate market is among the most prized and expensive in the world.
Manhattan's Chinatown incorporates the highest concentration of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere.
Unlike most global rapid transit systems, the New York City Subway is designed to provide 24/7service. Numerous colleges and universities are located in New York, including Columbia University, New York University, and Rockefeller University, which are ranked among the top 100 in the world.
The Big Apple is a nickname for New York City. It was first popularized in the 1920s by John J. Fitz Gerald, a sports writer for the New York Morning Telegraph. Its popularity since the 1970s is due to a promotional campaign by the New York Convention and Visitors Bureau, known now as NYC & Company.

A Taste of the Big Apple, New York City
#America #Liberty #immigrants
New York is known throughout the world as the quintessential American city where big dreams can come true, and indeed for hundreds or years it has served as an entry point for immigrants seeking a new life, giving it a unique cultural and historical identity.
New York Helicopter - Big Apple tour
Recently I wen't to NY and we decided to take the helicopter Big apple tour. It was so amazing, I would definitely recommend it for everyone that enjoys visiting the city. The tour was about 10 - 15 mins, but it felt like it was just 5 mins because it was so amazing and we had such a good time. I would go again and try the other tours that were 20-30 mins, but it's a bit pricy for the longer rides, but this is all worth it. The big apple tour went around the main half, the down town side, but the helicopter turned around when we reached central park. The helicopter flies over the sea, it doesn't really go over the city, but either way it was truly unbelievable and we were very lucky with weather.
Hope you enjoyed watching :D don't forget to subscribe to my channel xx

Queens NYC new york by subway
Queens is the largest in area, the second largest in population, and the easternmost of the five boroughs of New York City. The borough is coextensive with Queens County, an administrative division of New York state, in the United States.
Located on the western portion of Long Island, Queens is home to two of the three major New York City area airports, JFK International Airport and LaGuardia Airport. It is also the location of the New York Mets baseball team, the US Open tennis tournament, Flushing Meadows Park, Kaufman Astoria Studios, and Silvercup Studios.
As of the 2005 American Community Survey, immigrants comprise 47.6% of Queens residents.[1] With a population of 2.3 million it is the second most populous borough in New York City (behind Brooklyn) and the tenth most populous county in the United States. It is also the nation's fourth-most-densely populated county (after the counties covering Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx).[2] The 2.3 million figure is the highest historical population for the borough.[3] Were each borough an independent city, Brooklyn and Queens would be the third and fourth largest cities (respectively) after Los Angeles and Chicago.

Queens was established in 1683 as one of the original 12 counties of New York and was supposedly named for the Queen consort, Catherine of Braganza (1638--1705), the Portuguese princess who married King Charles II of England in 1662.[6][7]
The borough is considered one of the more suburban boroughs of New York City. Neighborhoods in central Queens (except those situated along Queens Boulevard and the neighborhoods of Flushing and Jamaica), southern Queens, and eastern Queens have a look and feel similar to the bordering suburbs of western Nassau County. In its northwestern section, however, Queens is home to many urban neighborhoods and several central business districts. Long Island City, on the Queens' waterfront across from Manhattan, is the site of the Citicorp Building, the tallest skyscraper in New York City outside of Manhattan, and the tallest building on geographic Long Island

Manhattan: The Sights and Sounds of the City
Recorded September 13-14, 2008.
Manhattan is one of the five boroughs of New York City, located primarily on Manhattan Island at the mouth of the Hudson River. New York County, which has the same boundaries as the Borough of Manhattan is the most densely populated county in the United States, with a 2007 population of 1,620,867 living in a land area of 22.96 square miles, or 70,595 residents per square mile. It is also one of the wealthiest counties in the United States, with a 2005 personal income per capita above $100,000. Manhattan is the third-largest of New York's five boroughs in population but the smallest in area. It consists of Manhattan Island and several small adjacent islands.
One of my favorite things to do in New York is just walking around the city and soaking up the atmosphere. This video is of no one place in particular but was shot entirely from the city streets of Manhattan.

Our 2nd last stop of our USA trip. We stayed here for 8 days so this will be the first vlog out of a few.
This vlog was only two days and I feel like we did so much already! Day one was spent exploring and shopping around Times Square and of course, seeing the New York street performers. Day two was spent bike riding in central park, visiting the MET, seeing the Empire State building, eating possibly one of the best burgers we've ever tried, and lastly, seeing the Anastasia Broadway Musical.
Stay tuned for more of our NYC adventures x
