Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta at Kanakapura tourism Karnataka tourism. Bilikal Ranganatha Swamy Betta is a hill near Kanakapura town , Ramanagara district in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is located 70 km south of Bangalore city. Atop the hill is a temple dedicated to Lord Ranganatha Swamy. The temple and an adjacent quarters is housed underneath a huge granite rock. The hill is also known by the name Billikal Betta due to the whitish rocks near the summit that is visible from a long distance. The peak is at a height of 3780 feet.
Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta belongs to the Reserve Forest area. Elephants and other medium-sized wild-life animals can be spotted in these forests.
Trek is for around 2.15 to 3 Hours to reach peak and 1.5 hours to get back, depending on ones physical fitness level. Path is well marked. You need permission from forest department for trekking. Apart from the Trek route from Konala Doddi, there is jeep track till the peak from Kanakapura, which can also be trekked but a little long route.
On the top, there is a small temple and a pond. Surrounding view is good. At a distance of 75 km from Bangalore City Junction, 16 km from Kanakapura & 112 km from Mysore, Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta is a hill near Kanakapura town. It is one of the highest hills in the area. It is also called as Bilikal Betta means white rocks. This is a good destination for short one day trekking from Bangalore.
Ramanagara gets its name from Ramagiri Hills or Ramadevara Betta. Along with Ramadevara Betta there are other hills Rama Siddeshwara betta, Shivar-amagiri, Kaakasura Betta, Kapotagiri, this hill resembles a lingam when viewed from the east, Ganesha from the west, a serpent from the north and Lord Hanuman from the south.Ramanagara is well known for its sericulture, and is nicknamed Silk Town and Silk City . The silk produced in this region forms the input for the famous Mysore Silk. Ramanagara is the largest market for silk cocoons in Asia.. Ramanagaram is associated with the iconic movie Sholay. Ramadevara Betta a famous trekking spot, rock climbing spot surrounded by rocky hills is the place where famous scenes and song of the movie Sholay was shot. Ramanagara's name was based on the historical story of the Ramayana. Ramanagara – The land of the seven hills. Yatirajagiri, Shivaramagiri, Somagiri, Revannasiddeshwara Betta, Krishnagiri, Sidilakallu Betta and Jalasiddeshawara Betta are the seven major hills in Ramanagara. Ramanagara or Ramgarh is home to some of the world’s oldest deposits of granite and other rock outcrops.
Ramanagara tourism offers other places of interest around ,Ramanagara district such as Arkavathi Dam ,Janapada Loka,Kanva Reservoir, Sangama: The place is the confluence of Arkavathy and Kaveri, thus called Sangama by locals. Its one of the major tourist attractions in Kanakpura and around 2 hours drive from Bangalore and Kanakapura fort: Built by the chief of Channapatna, Jagadeva Raya, this fort is another place to visit in Kanakapura. One can spot the remains of the fort near the Arkavathi bridge.
Kanakapura tourism offers many places near by like Maralawadi Kere Or Mavathur Kere, Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta, Maralwadi DAM, Benki Falls, Haro Bele Dam , Kanakapura fort.

Bhai fogg chal raha hai. This was our first reaction when we reached the top after some offroad fun climbing up the bilikal rangaswamy betta. There is a rangaswamy temple at the top of this hill. As per wiki 'Bilikal Ranganatha Swamy Betta is a hill near Kanakapura town in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is located 70 km south of Bangalore city. Atop the hill is a temple dedicated to Lord Ranganatha Swamy. The temple and an adjacent quarters is housed underneath a huge granite rock. The hill is also known by the name Billikal Betta due to the whitish rocks near the summit that is visible from a long distance.'
As per wiki the permission to climb this place has been prohibited by the forest department, however we did not see any officials and villagers said that it's free to go.
as per wiki As of August 2015, it has been reported that hiking up to the top has been stopped by the Forest Department, and interested parties need to seek permission from the forest office in Bannerghatta.
Beware of elephants as you can see elephant dung all over the roads. Not sure if we are lucky or unlucky but we didn't spot any.

Trekking needs permission in this area . Also this is open only on Saturday and Sunday. You can find lot of Elephant dung which proves there are lot of Elephants .
Very breezy area .under hot sun also you will not feel the heat due to the wind .
Nice spot for photography as it has beautiful scenery behind .
Don't miss to go towards the water tank where you will find breeezy area.

Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta was an Awesome off Road Driving place.
Once you reach to the forest check point, there after the game and fun starts with Off Roading. Its about 10 kms of stretch.
While riding you can see the beautiful sceneric view of the mountains with cold breeze and tough roads.
After reaching on to the top of the hill you will find a temple.
There the rock view is too good to see and you can relax over there by forgetting all the tensions.
So this is one of the places nearby banglore that everyone can go along with their families.
