Presidential Candidate Donald Trump 50 Miles From Cullman
United States Presidential Candidate Donald John Trump (69) of Queens, New York visited the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex at 11:00 am this morning.
Trump is a swiss army knife of a human being. He is well known as an American real estate developer, television personality, business author, and now ... candidate for President of the United States in the 2016 presidential election. As chairman and president of The Trump Organization, and the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts, Trump's career, branding efforts, lifestyle and outspoken manner helped make him a celebrity, a status amplified by the success of his NBC reality show, The Apprentice.
All but lost in the madness of the crowd and the almost hour and a half rally were the many Cullman County residents as well as those from Blount and Winston County we ran across on the campaign floor. Cullman Today spotted at least a dozen area residents we knew by sight. We suspect there were many more scattered about the crowd.
The one Cullman resident with a direct connection to Donald Trump is Bradley Williams. Williams is a District 4 candidate to be a Trump Presidential Delegate at the upcoming national convention in Ohio this summer.

How has the Paris attack shifted the U.S. fight against ISIS, refugee policy and the 2016 campaign?
One week after the terror attacks in Paris left 130 people dead, the United States and global community have intensified the resolve to defeat ISIS and prevent future attacks. In state houses across the country and in the U.S. House of Representatives, the conversation has shifted to refugee policy and preventing all Syrian refugees from entering the country until security measures can be stepped up. 2016 presidential candidates are weighing in as well with Republican frontrunner Donald Trump calling for a national database to track Muslims. Gwen Ifill explores how the attack shifted U.S. foreign policy and the race for the White House with Pete Williams of NBC News, Alexis Simendinger of Real Clear Politics, Ed O'Keefe of The Washington Post and Susan Davis of NPR.

Inside the AHSAA 1-28-11
Super Bowl XLV at Arlington, Texas, Feb. 6 will once again have a strong Alabama connection. Both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers include former AHSAA standouts on their Super Bowl rosters -- either as players or coaches.
For the AFC champion Steelers, former Carroll-Ozark defensive tackle Steve McLendon is on the defensive unit as a special teams and reserve player. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound rookie was undrafted out of college at Troy University but has worked his way onto the Pittsburgh roster. Anthony Madison of Thomasville High School is a cornerback in the Pittsburgh secondary. The former University of Alabama defensive back has five years in the NFL to his credit. This season had has had 24 tackles and one interception. Green Bay has two players with state connections -- former Auburn cornerback Pat Lee and former Crimson Tide safety Charlie Peprah. Neither attended high school in Alabama.
Both coaching staffs are dotted with Alabama connections. Green Bay lists Joe White, Jr., who attended Auburn High School, as its defensive back coach. Also, former Auburn University walk-on Kevin Greene, who is now a member of the Alabama Sports Hall o Fame, is the outside linebackers coach. Greene attended high school in Granite City, IL.
Pittsburgh lists three coaches who played high school football in the AHSAA.
Defensive Ends coach John Mitchell prepped at Williamson High School in Mobile where he was a football and basketball star. He was a two-time JUCO All America selection at Eastern Arizona Junior College before joining the Alabama Crimson Tide -- making history as the first black player to join the team in school history in the spring of 1971. He earned All-America honors as a defensive end for Coach Paul Bear Bryant in in 1972.
Linebackers coach Keith Butler was born in Anniston and attended Lee-Huntsville High School before playing collegiately at Memphis University. Tight ends coach James Daniel was born and raised in Wetumpka where he attended Wetumpka High School. He played collegiately at Alabama State, coached eight years at Enterprise High School and then coach from 1981-92 on Auburn University's staff.
Also on the Steelers staff are former University of Alabama coaches Bruce Ariens, the offensive coordinator, and Amos Jones, who coaches the Pittsburgh special teams.
The Super Bowl has a rich Alabama tradition of course. In fact, in Super Bowl I, the first MVP was Bart Starr, a Sidney Lanier High School All-State quarterback who led the Packers to the win over the Kansas City Chiefs. And a special bit of trivia from that game -- the first sack in Super Bowl history was registered by Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Buck Buchanon, a Parker High School standout who went on to star in college at Grambling. And the first quarterback sacked was -- Bart Starr himself.
The high school regular season for basketball and wrestling is quickly coming to an end with final area games setting up the final seeding for area tournaments which commence on Feb. 7 for girls teams and Feb. 8 for boys teams in areas with more than four teams. Girls area tournaments will continue with semifinals on Feb. 10 and Area finals on Feb. 12. Boys will play the semifinals on Feb. 11 with finals on Feb. 14.
Sub-regional contests for girls will be Feb. 17 and boys sub-regional games will be Feb. 18. Sub-regional round winners advance to regional tournaments the week of Feb. 21-26. The South Regional at the University of South Alabama's Mitchell Center and the Central Regional at Alabama State University's Acadome in Montgomery will tip off on Monday, Feb. 21 with Class 3A at 3 p.m. The Northeast Regional at Jacksonville State University's Pete Mathews Coliseum tips off on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 9 a.m. with Class 6A and Class 1A competition scheduled on the first day. And the Northwest Regional at Wallace-Hanceville Community College's Tom Drake Coliseum, also begins on Feb. 22 at 9 a.m. with Classes 5A and 2A scheduled for the opening day.
The AHSAA Final 48 state tournament will be held at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex March 1-5. It marks the 18th year the AHSAA Final 48 state tournament will be held in Birmingham at the BJCC.
Wrestling teams close out the regular season next week with section tournaments set for Feb. 11-12. Teams and wrestlers will then advance to the state meet at Huntsville's Von Braun Center Feb. 17-19. There's still time to check out your favorite team in regular season competition this week and next.

Schindler HT LOW PITCHED Hydraulic Elevator at Acme Markets Chester Springs, PA
Filmed 8/24/17
Installed c. 2002
This is a really cool Schindler HT since it has the low pitched chimes! I did not even think this store had an elevator since there is an Acme closer to me and there is no elevator. I forgot to check the date on the interlock to see when it was installed but I would guess around 2002-2003 and I think it's 330A. This is my 2nd Schindler low pitched the first being at Sam's Club in Exton, PA. Please note the elevators at both places are really not for the public and the only reason I rode them is cause of the rare low pitched chimes. In fact I wasn't planning on filming the elevator here but I pressed the button and heard the low pitched chime so I couldn't resist! It probably would've been better if I got permission first which is what I recommend doing if you want to film this elevator. Anyways enjoy this very unique Schindler elevator!
