Black River Harbor is one of the Top Ten most beautiful places in the United States. Plenty of nice sites. A beautiful harbor on Lake Superior surrounded with by a cornucopia of natural beauty. Five named waterfalls that are simply amazing, each awe inspiring along with several hidden un-named falls that anywhere else would be named and a major attraction. Together in such a short span of river makes the place the best place to see waterfalls in the US. Harbor features a beautiful suspension bridge, gorgeous picnic ground, amazing examples of Civilian Conservation Corps architecture and perhaps the most beautiful beach on the great lakes. Short drive from Copper Peak, where you can see three states and Canada. Needs to be on everyone's bucket list.

Potawatomi Falls - Black River - Ironwood, Bessemer, MI
The Black River north of Ironwood/Bessemer Michigan was pretty spectacular today after recent rains and as you can see in the video - SNOW today on April 21. This falls is located about a mile north of Black River Harbor (Lake Superior) in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Black River Scenic Byway
An outstanding geologic wonder, the Black River drops in a series of awe-inspiring cascades as it makes its way to Lake Superior north of Ironwood, Michigan. Along the Byway, you can stop at each trailhead to hike in and see the falls, or you can follow a particular scenic segment of the North Country Trail that links them all, culminating in a serious pedestrian footbridge near the river’s mouth.

I shot this last spring. This bridge was rebuilt by the Forest Service in 1968. It carries the North Country Trail over the Black river. This place is a bit out of the way but a wonderful spot! Please excuse my older noisy camera.

Nawadaha Falls in Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park
Nawadaha Falls. These are located in the Presque Isle River Area at Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. There are several waterfalls along this river board walk, each with their own unique beauty. This is a great walk to take. Also out of this area you can reach the beach shores of Lake Superior.

Potawatomi Falls - September 27, 2014
Black River Scenic Byway (CR 513) is a road in the western corner of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, near the Wisconsin state line. The byway begins in Bessemer and travels north to the road's end at Black River Harbor on the shores of Lake Superior. Along its length are five cascading waterfalls. Short hiking trails provide access to each of the falls. Potawatomi Falls is a very scenic waterfall along an especially scenic part of the Black River. An added plus is the close proximity of the equally impressive Gorge Falls. These are two of the most impressive falls on the Black River and are also the two easiest to access.

Michigan Gone Wild is in pursuit of late summer Brook Trout on the Black River in Northern Michigan. With a combination of terrestrials, wet fly's, spoons and spinners, Jordan and Joe team up with TFO rods in hand to put some Brookies in the net. Jordan offers some great advise for capitalizing on late summer Brook Trout while using tactics that have been a trade mark on the Black River for almost a century.
