BRUSSELS WINTER WONDERS 2019 ( SAINT CATHERINE'S CHURCH )
Visit The Saint Catherine’s Church, A Beautiful Church In Brussels and discover its facade.
The Saint Catherine’s Church (also known as the Eglise Sainte-Catherine and Sint-Katelijnekerk) can be considered an architectural witness of some of the many different artistic styles featured in Brussels. Located in its Lower Town, this beautiful religious building will astonish you for all its artistic features and its ruined bell tower. Moreover, right in front of the main facade you can experience a local market full of typical Belgian products.
The Eglise Sainte-Catherine (Saint Catherine’s Church) is located on Place Ste-Catherine 50, just a 10 minute walk from the Grand Place. Located in the Lower Town of Brussels, the church was built in the 15th century but completely redesigned between 1854 and 1859 by the famous artist Joseph Poelaert. As you can see in the picture, the facade has a Gothic profile while the interior contains beautiful baroque artworks. In 1629 an Italian baroque bell tower was added, and it still exists in its original shape and is located aside the church. Right in front the church’s main entrance, there is a daily market where you can find typical Belgian products as such as seafood, cheeses, and local vegetables. The central square was once the city’s main fish market and still you can enjoy delicious fish dishes.
Explore an area full of historical and artistic monuments
The area surrounding Eglise Sainte Catherine (Saint Catherine Church) is an unmissable spot during your journey in Brussels. In fact, if you like art history, here you will admire some of the rarest examples of religious architecture in the Lower Town of Brussels. Moreover, east of Saint Catherine Church you will find the Tour Noire (Black Tower) a surviving tower from the stone city walls of the 12th century. You can reach this are with the underground (Ste-Catherine stop) but I highly recommend you walk from the Grand Place in order to enjoy the old alleys of the Lower Town.

I really love Ghent! It is known to be Belgium's Gem. Truly, it's very charming and lively. Although, we could not visit all of the famous monuments due to the on going festival during our visit there, the loud street music and scattered booths cannot hide the beauty of this city. I will go back in this city in the future and enjoy the real Ghent experience without the festival.

This is my travel vlog in Brussels, Belgium. Belgium is famous for it's waffles and chocolates (the best chocolates i've tasted so far in my life) and YOU MUST GIVE THEM A TRY! This is just a short tour arounf the city of Brussels as we just stayed for over night to catch up with our friends there.

Paris Illuminates Eiffel Tower In Solidarity With Brussels
On Tuesday, Paris turned the Eiffel Tower into an icon of solidarity for Belgium, illuminating the tower in red, black and yellow -- the colors of the Belgian flag. Only a few months ago, the Eiffel Tower went dark as a symbol of mourning as Paris dealt with its own horrific terror attacks. At least 31 people have been reported killed by the attacks in Brussels. Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, tweeted a photo of the Eiffel Tower with a caption that read, Paris and Brussels are united. Other European cities such as Berlin and Rome have also created similar symbols of solidarity and many are turning out to show their support.

Hey everybody!! Day #39 of my 2016 European Summer Tour and for this food challenge I'm back at Broodjeshoek in Balen, Belgium. I'll be attempting their undefeated Monument of Balen Challenge which consisted of 20 currywurst sausages, 9 meatballs, and a healthy salad.

Broodjeshoek’s “Monument Of Balen” Challenge (€45):
There are 20 currywurst sausages and 9 meatballs, both with the same meat and consistency, but different shape. There is a salad included, and all the pieces of meat are arranged to form what looks like Atomium, a famous Belgian landmark near Brussels. There is a one sitting time limit for a person to try to finish solo, and there are different team challenge options as well. Solo winners receive the meal free and a spot on Broodjeshoek's Wall of Fame. Broodjeshoek is where I defeated The Balense Reus Burger Challenge a few years ago on my second attempt.

Dexia rescue hides black hole for Europe's banks?
Dexia Tower in Brussels has not come tumbling down, but it was a close run thing for the world's number one lender to local authorities.
A marathon overnight meeting of the board led to its shares resuming trading on Monday after having been suspended last Thursday. The bank survives, but only after the nationalisation of its Belgian retail operation.
The taxpayer has not contributed too much, as the risk is managed and the cost of the operation is relative, said Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme.
Brussel Station Incident - BBC News
A man has triggered a small explosion in Brussels Central Station, a spokesman for the Belgian federal police told the BBC.
The man was shot by soldiers inside the station and no-one else is believed to have been injured.
Police say the situation is under control. The station and the city's Grand Place were evacuated.
