Falling Waters State Park
Falling Waters State Park features the tallest waterfall in the state of Florida! Located just outside the town of Chipley Florida, this beautiful state park includes very nice walking trails that take you through some sinks, and to the very cool waterfall that drops into an 80' sink.
We visited at a perfect time when the water flow was pretty heavy. A great place to stop and see if your traveling along I-10 through Northwest Florida.

A blackwater river is a type of river with a deep, slow-moving channel flowing through forested swamps or wetlands. As vegetation decays, tannins leach into the water, making a transparent, acidic water that is darkly stained, resembling tea or black coffee. Most major blackwater rivers are in the Amazon Basin and the Southern United States. The term is used in fluvial studies, geology, geography, ecology, and biology. Not all dark rivers are blackwater in that technical sense. Some rivers in temperate regions, which drain or flow through areas of dark black loam, are simply black due to the color of the soil; these rivers are black mud rivers. There are also black mud estuaries.
Blackwater rivers are lower in nutrients than whitewater rivers and have ionic concentrations higher than rainwater. The unique conditions lead to flora and fauna that differ both from whitewater and clearwater rivers. Where the water types combine is attractive to a diverse group of organisms. The classification of Amazonian rivers into black, clear and whitewater was first proposed by Alfred Russel Wallace in 1853 based on water colour, but the types were more clearly defined by chemistry and physics by Harald Sioli in the 1950s and 1960s. Although many Amazonian rivers fall clearly into one of these categories, others show a mix of characteristics and may vary depending on season and flood-levels.

Tubing Down the River - Caught in the Rain - Ichetucknee Springs State Park - Fort White, Florida
Despite the rain, we had a great time tubing down the river at the Ichetucknee Springs State Park. We camped nearby at the Ichetucknee Springs Campground, and rented tubes from them. After a short drive, and a short hike, we were able to tube from the midpoint of the river all the way to the south take out. The entire float took about an hour and a half. We saw birds, butterflies, lots of turtles, fish and even some manatees on our float. We did not see any alligators, and the locals here will tell you they haven't seen any in this river in over 100 years. We had also planned to swim in the springs, but the pouring rain cut our adventure short. If you have time in the area, we highly recommend the river tubing and swimming in the springs. The blue hole is also located in this state park, which is a famous diving spring with a cave.

Rocky Bayou Florida State Park
We went to visit one of our local state parks. Rocky Bayou SP is close to Niceville, Florida. It is a great day trip park but also for camping, RV and tent. It is located along a long stretch of the Rocky Bayou that is off the Choctawhatchee Bay and Gulf of Mexico.
It has a wide variety of water activities with two boat launches and docks for fishing. There are also three trails to get out into nature for the day. On this day, we took the Rocky Bayou trail. The path was fairly level with a few exposed tree roots. It was easy hike/walk though may pose some tripping hazards for ADA individuals. We often come out here for lunch style picnics and relax while watching the waterway.

RV Must Haves CH751
You may already know this, but if for some reason you didn’t get the memo, be warned that more than half of ALL RV, 5th Wheel, and Travel Trailers use the SAME storage compartment key! Take a look at yours. Is it labeled CH751 or ES201? If so, then thousands of others have a key to your storage compartments!
CH751 ES201 RV KEY WARNING!
For example, most class A, B and C recreational vehicles including diesel pushers, motorhomes, fifth-wheels, campervans, popup campers, truck campers, travel trailers, hybrid trailers, toterhomes and toy haulers ALL use the CH751 or ES201 key for their storage compartments. Even truck-bed toolboxes and garage doors all across the United States use this same key.
Granted, I like to believe that most of RV’ers are trustworthy, but this key is so common that almost anyone could have a copy. With just this small amount of knowledge, thieves could steal your belongings while parked overnight at a campsite, in your driveway, in storage, or anywhere else you leave your RV unwatched for any length of time.
The only real way to protect yourself from this threat is to change your tubular security locks with a model that does not use the CH751 or ES201 key.
