BLUE DRAGON - VIETNAM
My first full day in Hanoi was spent with an amazing group called Blue Dragon. Blue Dragon kids are street kids, children with disabilities, children from rural families living in extreme poverty, and victims of human trafficking and slavery. They rescue kids from danger, reunite them with their families when possible, and provide all the services needed for recovery and growth. They have rescued nearly 800 children, provided nearly half a million meals, obtained legal papers for almost 12,000 people and built 91 homes for families in need. It was an honor to meet such dedicated people. AND!!! To top it all off I even met some of the kids, gave them a short workshop on filmmaking and let them loose to use all my gear! I hope you enjoy their short film, Friends as much as I did!

Walking Tour of Sỹ Liên Market in Hanoi 2018 | VIETNAM WALK
Sỹ Liên Market is a local Vietnamese neighborhood-style market, located within walking distance of the Old Quarter and the famous Train Street of Hanoi.

If you're looking to do some exploring on foot around Hanoi, I suggest starting off on the Train Street along the western edge of Old Quarter. Follow the tracks south, enjoy a drink or two at the Hanoi Railway Cafe, and continue south until you reach the metal gates of the Hanoi Railway Station.
That's where I started the video, and from there, you can quickly walk to the Sỹ Liên Market.
The best time to visit is early in the morning (around 8am) or during lunch (12pm).
The nice thing is you can keep on walking and the road takes you directly to the Temple of Literature (Van Mieu), another location in Hanoi that you must see.
I hope that this video can help you get a sense of what a local Vietnamese market looks like, and can help you plan your trip to Hanoi!

|| ভিয়েতনাম, একটি স্বপ্নের নাম ||
ভিয়েতনাম যাওয়ার শখ আমার অনেকদিনের। ইন্সটাগ্রাম আর ইউটিউব ঘেটেঘুটে শুধু জেগে জেগে স্বপ্নই দেখতাম। একদিন হুট করে সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েই নিলাম, যা আছে কপালে.. এইবার যেয়েই ছাড়ব!
ভিয়েতনাম পৌঁছে মনে হল, আহা! ভাগ্যিস জিদ করেছিলাম.. কি অদ্ভুত রকমের পার্থক্য এক শহর থেকে আরেক শহরের। সবচেয়ে বড় যে শহর, যার পুরনো নাম সায়গন আর নতুন নাম হো চি মিন সিটি, এরই কতরকমের রুপ! বাইকের সমুদ্র যেন হো চি মিন। কি বিচিত্র ট্রাফিক নিয়ম। বাইক চলবে তার নিজের মত, তোমাকে রাস্তা পার হতে হবে একটা সোজা লাইন কল্পনা করে, বাইক তোমার পাশ কেটে চলে যাবে.. প্রথম প্রথম কিছুটা ভড়কে যাইনি বললে মিথ্যা বলা হবে। আমি আর মেহেদী চোখ চাওয়াচাওয়ি করতাম রাস্তা পেরোনোর আগে। এরপর ফি আমানিল্লাহ বলে পার হতাম। সে এক বিচিত্র অভিজ্ঞতা! আমি কি অনেকবার 'বিচিত্র' শব্দটা লিখছি? তা হতে পারে, হো চি মিনকে বর্ণনা করার মত অন্য বিশেষণ আমার আর জানা নেই।
ভিয়েতনামের খাবারদাবার নিয়ে না লিখলে যেন ভিয়েতনামকে নিয়ে লেখাই হল না! যত রকমের খাবার হতে পারে অথবা না পারে, সব আছে এখানে। অজগরের ওয়াইন, স্কুইড ভাজি, অক্টোপাস গ্রিল, কলার মোচা সব মিলবে। যদিও এসবে চোখ ভরিয়েই ক্ষান্ত দিয়েছি আমরা। পেট ভরিয়েছি ভিয়েতনামিজ লোকাল কুজিন দিয়ে, যার খেসারতস্বরুপ এখন আর কোন খাবারই মন ভরাতে পারছে না! ফো (নুডুলস স্যুপ), বান মি (স্যান্ডউইচ), বুন বো (বিফ নুডুলস স্যুপ), কেম শই (স্টিকি রাইস উইথ আইসক্রিম, বাকি জীবন শুধু এটা খেয়ে কাটিয়ে দিতে পারব!), বান চুওন (পাতলা রাইস শিট সয়াসসে ডুবিয়ে খেতে হয়), পরিজ, এগ কফি (দুধের বদলে ডিমের হলুদ অংশ দিয়ে বানানো কফি, এত অসাধারণ ক্রিমি কফি আমি কখনো খাইনি, যখন তখন চাইলেই খেতে পারব না ভাবলেই কান্না পায়!) আরো কত কি!
বা না হিলস যেতে হলে কেবল কারে উঠতে হবে, ভালো কথা। উঠলাম। ওমা! এর শেষ কোথায়? যাচ্ছে তো যাচ্ছেই.. আর আমরা দেখছি আমাদের পায়ের নিচে ঝর্ণার ধারা বইছে, বারবার বলছিলাম এরকম জায়গায় মানুষ দিনের পর দিন কাজ করেছে.. কিভাবে! এরকম ঘন সবুজ জংগলের ভেতর কেবল কারের লাইন বসিয়েছে.. কিভাবে! আমরা তখনও জানতাম না, অবাক হওয়ার আরো অনেক মাল মসলা উপরে আছে।
বা না হিলসে চোখ কপালে ওঠানোর মত একটা থিম পার্ক বানিয়ে রেখেছে 'সানওয়ার্ল্ড' নামের এক কোম্পানি। আমি এখন বলতে পারব, আমি ডিজনিল্যান্ড দেখিনি, বা না হিলস দেখেছি! গোল্ডেন ব্রিজ, ফ্রেঞ্চ ভিলেজ, প্যাগোডা, ফ্লাওয়ার গার্ডেন দেখতে দেখতে আমরা ক্লান্ত হচ্ছিলাম কিন্তু তাও যেন ফুরোচ্ছিল না।
হই আন ছিল এর পরের অংশে। আমার সবচেয়ে পছন্দের শহর, সবচেয়ে সুন্দর শহর। কত যে রঙ এই শহরের! রাতে দেখলাম নদীর পাড়ে হুল্লোড় আর দিনে দেখলাম একেবারেই শান্ত, স্থবির। রাস্তাগুলোর, রাস্তার পাশের হলুদ দেয়ালগুলোর, লন্ঠনে মোড়ানো এই টুকরো শহরের প্রেমে পড়তে আমার একদিন সময় লেগেছিল। ঘড়ির উপর রাগ হচ্ছিল খুব, কি হয় একটু চুপটি করে আমাকে এই শহরের অলিগলিতে আরেকটু বেখেয়াল হতে? নাহ, তার চলতেই হবে টিক টিক টিক টিক!
হই আনের স্মৃতি আগলে রেখে পৌঁছে গেলাম হানয়, ভিয়েতনামের রাজধানী।
হানয়ে আমরা থাকলাম ওল্ড কোয়ার্টারে। আশেপাশেই সব ট্যুরিস্ট আকর্ষণ। সেগুলো ঘুরতে ঘুরতেই দিন পার করলাম। সবচেয়ে মজা লেগেছে যেটা, সেটা হল হানয়ের রেইল স্ট্রিট। দুইপাশে বাসা, দোকানপাট আর তার মাঝখান দিয়ে রেইললাইন। একেবারে গা ঘেঁষা! তেমন কোন সেইফটি লাইন টাইন কিচ্ছু নেই। রেলগাড়ি যাবে তার মত, এই মানুষগুলো কাজ করবে তাদের মত। কেউ কারো কাজে ব্যাঘাত ঘটাবে না!
হা লং বের কথা বলেই ইতি টানি। কেমন লেগেছে হা লং বে? দেড়টা দিন বের মাঝে জাহাজে করে ঘুরে বেড়িয়েছি। মাঝে কায়াকিং করে বেলাভূমি ঘুরে এসেছি, কেইভের ভেতর দিয়ে নৌকা নিয়ে অন্য পাড় দেখে এসেছি, ঘুম ভেঙেছে হা লং বের মাঝখানে, জানালা দিয়ে দেখছি পাহাড় কেটে কেটে আমাদের জাহাজ চলছে আমাদের নিয়ে! একে স্বপ্ন বলব না তো কি!
আমাদের ভ্রমণটা ছোট গল্পের মতই হয়ে রইল, শেষ হইয়াও হইল না শেষ! আবারো যদি কখনো সুযোগ হয়ে ওঠে ভিয়েতনাম যাবার, আমার চাইতে খুশি আর কেউ হবে না!

Da Nang (Đà Nẵng) is Vietnam's third largest city, and is located on the Eastern Sea coast, midway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and the largest city of Central Vietnam.
The city itself has neither the atmosphere of Hanoi nor the hustle-bustle of Ho Chi Minh City, but has its share of sights and is close to the ancient cities of charming Hoi An and the imperial capital of Hue, making it a popular vacationing spot for those looking to explore the attractions of central Vietnam or soak up some rays while hanging out on the city's beaches.
There are three main beaches in Danang. (A fourth one faces north into the bay and is not a place where expats usually go.) The beaches on the eastern side of the city are beautiful and developed for expat-friendly tourism. In the north is Pham Van Dong beach and Temple Resort. Temple Resort has a beautiful infinity pool under the palm trees with a view of the ocean and beach (90,000 VND). The My Kye Beach (China Beach) is at the eastern end of the Dragon Bridge road. And at Holiday Beach in the south is where you can walk into the cafe-rich An Thuong area and rent a surf board--Holiday Beach always has bigger waves than other parts of the beach.

Trip to Halong Bay - 4K Version
Towering limestone pillars and tiny islets topped by forest rise from the emerald waters of the Gulf of Tonkin. Halong translates as 'where the dragon descends into the sea' and legend tells that this mystical seascape was created when a great mountain dragon charged towards the coast, its flailing tail gouging out valleys and crevasses. As the creature plunged into the sea, the area filled with water leaving only the pinnacles visible. The geological explanation of karst erosion may be more prosaic, but doesn't make this seascape any less poetic.
Designated a World Heritage site in 1994, Halong Bay's spectacular scatter of islands, dotted with wind- and wave-eroded grottoes, is a vision of ethereal beauty and, unsurprisingly, northern Vietnam's number one tourism hub. Sprawling Halong City is the bay's main gateway but its dowdy high-rises are a disappointing doorstep to this site. Most visitors sensibly opt for cruise-tours that include sleeping on board within the bay, while a growing number are deciding to eschew the main bay completely, heading straight for Cat Ba Island from where trips to less-visited but equally alluring Lan Ha Bay are easily set up.
Halong Bay attracts visitors year-round with peak season between late May and early August. January to March is often cool and drizzly, and the ensuing fog can make visibility low, but adds bags of eerie atmosphere. From May to September tropical storms are frequent, and year-round tourist boats sometimes need to alter their itineraries, depending on the weather. November's sunny blue-sky days and lack of crowds make it the best time to make a beeline here.
