The Yellow Line Project (YLP) provides the earliest response possible when individuals with acute or chronic mental/chemical health problems come in contact with law enforcement. Funded by the Department of Human Services, YLP supports law enforcement and human services negotiations that provide the right services at the right time, not after they’ve crossed “the yellow line” into jail as most national in-house jail services operate. Mankato is a city in Blue Earth, Nicollet, and Le Sueur counties in the State of Minnesota.The population was 41,044 according to 2015 US census estimates, making it the fifth largest city in Minnesota outside of the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area.The county seat of Blue Earth County, it is located along a large bend of the Minnesota River at its confluence with the Blue Earth River.Mankato is across the Minnesota River from North Mankato.

Old Downtown Mankato (from the film Man On A Mission)
Here's the first two minutes from Man On A Mission which I had purchased fom the Blue Earth County Historical Society a few weeks back. Man On A Mission was a movie filmed entirely on location around Mankato in (I believe) 1966, with local actors and production crew. It was written, produced, and directed by Bob Gardner, with Raymond L. Johnson being the Associate Producer and Director of Photography. I was really hoping for more shots of Front Street, but the first few minutes of the opening scene was all she wrote.
My Mankato Family YMCA Story: History
The Mankato Family YMCA owns a unique position in the local community because of its sheer size, scale and ability to serve a diverse mix of members. It is impressively bigger and with a significant member following than what most cities of Mankato’s population range would expect from their local YMCA. Why is this? The story told here recognizes the impact of William D. Willard, born in Mankato, and seen as the father of Mankato’s YMCA. It was him, along with the help of others like George M. Palmer of Hubbard Milling Company, who established before the start of the twentieth century the foundation, vision, and values that make the Mankato YMCA the organization that it is today. Mankato is in Southern Minnesota, built up from the banks of the Minnesota River, a 90-minute drive from the Twin Cities. A lake named after President George Washington, Lake Washington, also plays a significant role in the YMCA history, which continues today. Aside from one small exception, the video’s soundtrack features music played by Mankato musicians.

This is the darkest chapter in Minnesota History. In Mankato, 38 Dakota were hanged in the largest mass execution in United States History. Just under Fort Snelling, over a thousand Dakota were held in a concentration camp where hundreds would die over the course of the winter- many more than were executed.
Minnesota adopted a policy of scalping ransoms paying white citizens to kill and scalp natives.
This is the end of the 1862 Dakota War.

Dodd-Ford Bridge, Amboy, MN
Significance: Crossing the Blue Earth River in southern Blue Earth County, Minnesota, the Dodd Ford Bridge is a steel, pin-connected, nine-panel, overhead, Pratt-truss highway bridge. Constructed in 1901, it is among the state's earliest, remaining examples of the overhead Pratt type. The bridge also is significant for its association with Lawrence Henry Johnson, a prominent Minnesota bridge builder of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The Dodd Ford Bridge is one of only two authenticated, surviving examples of Johnson's work.
