Fly Fishing in Glacier National Park
We brought a fly rod along on our family vacation to Glacier National Park and had several opportunities to do some fishing in multiple regions of the park. Not only did we get to experience some of the beautiful scenery of the Rocky Mountains but also caught several fish, including some native west-slope cutthroats! This was a trip I will never forget. Hope you enjoy the video!

Montana's Fabled Yellowstone with Cabela's Outdoor Adventures
This fly fishing lodge lies in Paradise Valley, overlooking the Yellowstone River, the longest undammed river on the planet. With 300 miles of fishable trout water, there is no shortage of fishing options here, regardless of the conditions. The Yellowstone is known for its prolific hatches and incredible fishing for browns, rainbows, and cutthroat trout. The river offers the best of both worlds with great float fishing and wade fishing opportunities. This area is centrally located around some of the state's best trout fishing with other nearby blue-ribbon trout streams like the Madison and Boulder. The lodge also offers private access to some challenging, yet rewarding, spring creeks. There's nothing more exciting to spotting and stalking large trout in gin clear water as you watch it take your dry fly! Besides the main lodge where guests gather for meals and to swap fish tales, there are also 16 private guest cabins. There are two different packages to choose from, both offering excellent opportunity for incredible fly fishing. The deluxe package includes accommodations in the newly constructed loft-style riverside cabins. These cabins feature two bedrooms, two baths, living room, kitchenette, flat screen tv, and private deck overlooking the river. The standard package includes accommodations in the original cabins that feature more of an open area with two queen beds, full bath, sitting area, and semi-private deck overlooking the river. All cabins have electric heat, central air, and incredible views of the Absaroka mountain range. Other area activities include hiking, mountain biking, gold, horseback riding, Chico hot springs, whitewater rafting, or a day trip to Yellowstone National Park.

Montana Ranches For Sale Fiddler Creek Hunting Recreation Beartooth Wilderness
Montana ranches for sale brings us the 345-acre Fiddler Creek Ranch located next to the Beartooth wilderness this ranch offers exceptional hunting for elk, whitetail deer and mule deer all in a gated, private location.
The adjoining million-acre Absaroka-Beartooth wilderness contains all 28 of the highest peaks in Montana including the 12,970-foot Granite Peak which is Montana's highest peak. Nearby East Rosebud offers tremendous hiking in one of Montana's most popular trails, the Beaten Path, along with great high mountain lakes fishing.
The nearby town of Red Lodge plays host to Red Lodge mountain ski resort as well as the Beartooth Pass and northeast entrance into Yellowstone National Park. Journalist Charles Kuralt called the Beartooth Pass the most scenic highway in America.
Fishing opportunities nearby are abundant with the Stillwater river, west Rosebud Creek, the Yellowstone river and Rock Creek all just a short distance away from the ranch.
Montana's largest city, Billings, is just under one hour away offering the State's top medical care along with Billings Logan International airport and a host of cultural, shopping and dining options.
The hunting on the ranch is absolutely superb offering upland birds, trophy Rocky mountain elk and nice populations of both whitetail deer and mule deer.
Hiking opportunities are abundant with two of the State's premier recreation drainages in West Rosebud and East Rosebud very close by.
The closest small town is Absarokee, Montana which is located right on the Stillwater river, a blue-ribbon fishery, and it is approximately 20 minutes from the ranch. Adventure Whitewater, one of Montana's top rafting companies is also located in Absarokee and rafts on the Stillwater and Yellowstone rivers for the thrill-seekers in the family.
The ranch is approximately 90 minutes away from the northeast entry to Yellowstone National Park located in Cooke City, Montana. The Beartooth Pass is closed in the winter but the Cooke City area of the Yellowstone National Park is accessible through Gardiner, Montana all winter long and is one of the premier snowmobiling destinations in North America.
There are several great locations on the ranch to build a home, or guest houses, that all have phenomenal Beartooth mountain views. Septic permits are run through Montana DNRC, as are the water well approvals. Stillwater County would be the authority in charge of issuing building permits.
Several forks of Fiddler creek run through the ranch creating a nice riparian corridor and there is significant dry land hay ground that should produce great results from a first cutting in June. This makes the ranch well suited to supporting horses.

Utah's Green River - Fly Fishing the Aquarium
The crystal clear water of Utah's Green River is home to some of the world's finest trout. There is only one problem, the water is so clear and the fish are so big that it can often times get frustrating to watch refusal after refusal. That's when going subsurface with your flies comes in handy.
There is a lot of fishing pressure on the A section of the Green. There are some awesome long glides that hold sipping trout most spring afternoons. I prefer to fish the riffles and faster moving water where the fish seem to be a little more willing to play. Once an epic hatch kicks in I love to throw dries to big fish, but before and after the hatch it's definitely worth working the nymphs.
The highlight of this trip was the time I was able to spend with my dad and brother John. They are great company, and as you can tell by the bridge section of the film they are not in too big of a hurry to miss out on relaxing and enjoying the river.
The music in the film was done by an amazing artist Ryan Hawthorn. You can follow him on Facebook for more great stuff: facebook.com/rhawthorn

One more thing about the Green, the Salt Lake Tribune did a documentary style video on this river that provides some great info. Here is there description and link:
Utah's Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam is one of the most scenic and most productive fisheries in the West. The world-class Blue Ribbon water runs for 30 miles to the Colorado border. Some estimates say there are 20,000 trout per river mile in the upper stretches. Anglers find a plethora of big brown trout and rainbow trout. An underwater camera catches a unique glimpse of the numerous fish and emerald colors of the river.
FISH ON!

Big Sky Montana Trek 6-9-18 P1
Big Sky, Montana
Big Sky is located at 45°16′12″N 111°17′59″W (45.269940, -111.299725),[5] approximately midway between West Yellowstone and Bozeman on U.S. Highway 191 and just 15 miles (24 km) from the northwestern border of Yellowstone National Park.
The Meadow area of Big Sky lies in an alpine valley formed during the Cretaceous period. Initially called the Gallatin Canyon Basin, the Meadow is braided with small rivers that channel mountain snow run-off. Fishing is permitted on all of these Gallatin feeders. Two ponds are found on the Middle Fork of the Gallatin River that bisects the Meadow, and fishing there is permitted for those 16 and younger. Since 1993, an innovative sewer system has protected the water in the area from sewage discharge. Several agencies, such as the Gallatin River Task Force, monitor the health of the rivers.
The community had two large ski resorts that are sited in the Mountain area: Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin. In October 2013, these resorts merged: both are now managed by Big Sky Resort, and both are alpine ski and golf resorts. The combined terrain of the two resorts allows them to market themselves as the Biggest Skiing in America. The Spanish Peaks Mountain Club is an exclusive ski and golf resort that has three chairlifts and thirteen ski runs connecting it to Big Sky Resort at the base of Big Sky's Southern Comfort lift. Spanish Peaks is also now owned by Big Sky Resort, in collaboration with the Yellowstone Club. Another resort, Lone Mountain Ranch, is a Nordic ski and summer resort that professionally grooms over 75 kilometers of cross-country ski trails. Yellowstone Club, a private resort, is located to the south and adjacent to Big Sky Resort.
The Canyon area of Big Sky lies in the Gallatin Canyon, along the Gallatin River, a favorite for white water rafters and kayakers. The Gallatin River, named after Albert Gallatin[6] who was the Secretary of the Treasury during the Lewis and Clark Expedition, is a Blue Ribbon trout stream that attracts fly-fishers from around the world.[7] Outfitting firms can connect fly-fishers to renowned rivers, in particular the Madison and the Yellowstone. Several dude ranches (320 Guest Ranch, Elkhorn Ranch, Cinnamon Lodge and 9 Quarter Circle) operate in the Gallatin Canyon.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 120.2 square miles (311.4 km2), of which 120.0 square miles (310.8 km2) is land and 0.2 square miles (0.6 km2), or 0.18%, is water. Most of the CDP drains to the east into the Gallatin River, while the westernmost portions drain west via Cedar Creek and Jack Creek to the Madison River. The Gallatin and the Madison both drain north to the Missouri River.
