Life in the Dunes
We took a trip up to the beautiful Killpecker Sand Dunes near Reliance, Wyoming! The Killpecker Sand Dunes are one of only seven dune systems on EARTH that can boast singing sands. The unique, rounded shape of the grains of sand rub together when they move, causing an eerie singing. We also drove out to the Boar's Tusk, an eroded volcano plug much like Devil's tower to the Northeast. This unique and striking feature juts nearly 400 feet out of the surrounding landscape, and stands alone against the flatness of the landscape of the Red Desert.

Rock Springs / Green River KOA in Rock Springs Wyoming provides full hookup RV and tent camping sites convenient for travelers. The park is a large gravel area with a mix of long term guests and short term sites. Convenient to the interstate the park is a bit pricey for what they offer. This area of Wyoming is an oil and gas production hub so the park is situated near industrial looking buildings; part of the charm of travelling to new areas.
The park is well run with a nice pool area and bathroom facilities. A small stocked store is available also. Fuel stations are convenient to the interstate and this park. No shade trees or grass.
One of the best features at this park are the private tent pads. A very nice touch.

Wyoming Petroglyphs
This site is called the White Mountain Petroglyphs. Located in SW Wyoming, in the deserts of Sweetwater County. Some of these images date back 1000 years, when the Plains and Great Basin Indians hunted buffalo and elk, in this area. One of the caves still has soot from torches, covering the ceiling. Just past that cave, notice the carving of the Indian, in full head dress, running on a horse! The audio is mostly non-existent..unless you like the WIND! This Petroglyph feature is on federal land (BLM), which is why the fence protects it. Otherwise, your in the middle of nowhere.
