Georgetown Waterfront: A Melting Pot
Georgetown Waterfront: A Melting Pot
The cosmopolitan Georgetown waterfront in Washington DC is arguably the third biggest in the region after the National Harbor in Maryland and Washington Wharf in Washington DC in that order. But the strategic location of the Georgetown waterfront enables it to favorably compete with even the National Harbor for now. I must add, however, that the fast-developing Washington Wharf, when completed, will by far outmatch the Georgetown Waterfront and even rival the National Harbor- things being equal, of course. In fact, the Washington Wharf development is reportedly the biggest waterfront project in the country.
However, this voiceless video is on the Georgetown Waterfront. An update of my Washington Wharf video comes later.
Georgetown Waterfront attracts all walks of life, cultures, religions, and classes – it is a melting pot indeed. The video demonstrates that.
This is a voiceless version. The voiced version comes later.

Kayaking on the Anacostia (Washington Navy Yard Waterfront)
I rented a Kayak (twice) from Boating in DC (Ballpark) and explored The Yards waterfront on the Anacostia River. My tour included exploring under the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail, the USS Barry (DD-933), the 11th St Bridges, and a sand barge off of Anacostia Park overrun with geese. I also saw an osprey but it was too far away to show up on the GoPro.

While visitors to the nation's capital usually head to the monuments and museums, a new attraction uses the Potomac River to draw visitors downstream to a growing destination in Maryland.
A mini-city called National Harbor has risen over the past eight years on a long-empty site. The village of shops, hotels, restaurants and public art was built between the river and the East Coast artery of Interstate 95. Its features are inspired, in part, by those of great cities, such as Rome's Spanish Steps and Barcelona's pedestrian mall La Rambla.
Water taxis ferry visitors to the National Mall, historic Alexandria, Virginia, and Washington Nationals baseball games. In the evening, families can stroll by boutiques or a ride a carousel. Boaters can dock for dinner, choosing from more than 30 restaurants. Everything is neat and new, and none of it existed a decade ago.
The newest attraction is opening in time for summer: a 180-foot (54-meter) Ferris wheel built over the water, inspired by similar wheels in London and Paris. The $15 million Capital Wheel features views of Washington in the distance, as well as the river. Its 42 air-conditioned gondolas hold a total of 332 people.
