Boca Grande, FL - Neighborhood Video
Boca Grande, , is one of America's classic Old Money resorts. Generations of millionaires -- and presidents -- have found peace and quiet in the discrete splendor of Boca Grande's beach and bay front mansions and real estate. Life here revolves around the timeless pleasures of boating, deep sea fishing, shelling, golf, tennis and socializing with family and friends.
Located at the southern tip (agent advised it is mid-way) of Gasparilla Island, Boca Grande is off the beaten track yet still easy to get to. Midway between Sarasota and Fort Myers, it's but a few minutes drive from the mainland towns of Englewood and Punta Gorda. But once over the bridge, the rest of the world seems very far away indeed.

Walking on the Beach at Gasparilla Island Lights - Boca Grande, FL
Port Boca Grande Light was first lit on December 31, 1890. It is a two-story frame dwelling raised on iron screw-piles, with the lantern placed in a cupola at the peak of the roof. The keeper lived in the lighthouse. A similar house (without a lantern) built next to it was the assistant keeper's dwelling.
The Port Boca Grande Light originally served ships transporting cattle from ports on Charlotte Harbor to Cuba. Phosphate ore from the Peace River area became an important cargo in the 1890s, and the construction of the Charlotte Harbor and Northern Railway to Port Boca Grande in 1909 resulted in increased traffic. Ship traffic to Port Boca Grande peaked at more than 30 ships a day during World War II, when Port Boca Grande served as a safe harbor for shipping in the Gulf.

The Gasparilla Island Light was deactivated in 1966, and abandoned by the Coast Guard in 1969. The buildings quickly deteriorated, and by 1970 beach erosion had exposed the screw-piles supporting the building, with waves breaking under the building at high tide. Two rock groins were built to protect the lighthouse, and sand was pumped in to build up the beach. Lee County took title of the lighthouse in 1972. On February 28, 1980, the lighthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Restoration work began in 1985, and in 1986 the light was recommissioned.
In 1988 the building and surrounding property were turned over to the State of Florida and became Gasparilla Island State Park. In 1999 the Historic Port Boca Grande Lighthouse and Museum opened to the public.
The light is considered an Aid to Navigation and the lamp room is maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard Station St. Petersburg Aids to Navigation Team.

Boca Grande is a small residential community on Gasparilla Island, in southwest Florida. Gasparilla Island is a part of both Charlotte and Lee Counties, while the actual village of Boca Grande, which is home to many seasonal and some year-round residents, is entirely in the Lee County portion of the island. It is part of the Cape Coral–Fort Myers Metropolitan Statistical Area. Boca Grande is known for its historic downtown, sugar sand beaches, blue water and world class fishing.
Its name - Spanish for Big Mouth - comes from the mouth of the waterway, called Boca Grande Pass, at the southern tip of the island. The pass was used as a busy shipping point for many years as the waters in the pass are naturally deep. Processed phosphate from the Bone Valley region was loaded onto waiting ocean-going cargo vessels via the Seaboard Air Line Railroad at the dock located on the southern tip of the island. Shipping business to the island declined in the late 1970s as it was no longer cost effective to ship phosphate by rail to Boca Grande when it could be loaded at Tampa. The phosphate plant at Boca Grande was old and its tons-per-hour rate was slow. Therefore, it made economic sense to discontinue the operation. Evidence of the island's industrial past can still be seen.

There are no gas stations in the village of Boca Grande, with the exception of a street pump at Boca Grande Marina, so many local residents use a golf cart as their main mode of transportation. On any given day in Boca Grande, you will see golf carts, as well as some automobiles, making their way throughout downtown. A Lee County ordinance designates all but two streets as golf cart paths. Drivers must be at least 14 years old to operate a golf cart on these designated streets.
Boca Grande provided the backdrop for Denzel Washington's movie, Out of Time, where the quiet village was renamed Banyan Key in reference to the banyan trees that populate the island. Scenes for the 2006 film based on Carl Hiaasen's book Hoot were also filmed on the island, which was again renamed for the filming. This time it became Coconut Cove.
Boca Grande's serene beauty also makes it a destination for high-profile weddings and residences for the elite seeking privacy. Sara Blakely (Spanx founder and owner) and Jesse Itzler were married on Boca Grande in 2008, while the Bush family and Audrey Hepburn have called it home seasonally.
Hurricane Charley hit Boca Grande heavily on August 13, 2004, causing some $20 billion USD worth of damage to Southwest Florida. There were no deaths or injuries on the island, but many buildings were damaged and numerous banyan trees were heavily damaged.

Shot some B-Roll of Boca Grande, Florida June 2017
Went out to Boca Grande, Florida with my Sony FS5 and my DJI Mavic Pro Drone to shoot some B-roll of the light house at the end of the island. It was a beautiful day and there was a storm rolling past out in the distance.
I posted this so anyone thinking about visiting or vacationing in Boca Grande/Gasparilla Island can get a feel for the island first. It's got two lighthouses I believe and beautiful sunsets. You have to pay a toll of $6 and $3 parking but the beaches are a little more private because of it.

Wings You Can't See~~~~ Boca Grande Beach
Mid April on the beach of Boca Grande Florida...Just north of Ft. Myers on the west coast with my nieces and nephew...Here we have besides beauty galore a very modest amount of beach goers which makes for lots of leg room, relaxation and no parking nightmares!
The next video will be from famous Siesta Key Florida where you will be able to see the difference in the sand and it only being 40 minutes north along the coast yet it is like white baby powder coupled with the many colorful umbrella's in harmony with the teal blue water then add a dash salty sea air and you might think you are there...yet, what was that? That bird just took my sandwich out of my hand. Hey kid no running...you're kicking up sand! Sunburned, unorganized and tired when realizing you paid $10 to park 2 miles away...and now you have to walk back to your car bla`bla`bla will they make it?
LQQK for them here on YouTube soon...Summer on Siesta

One of Boca Grande’s most historically significant beachfront homes with 145 ft of gulf frontage situated on approx. 1 acre of land. Originally owned by Louise duPont and Francis Crowninshield, this exquisite home was built in 1927 as a winter retreat. Rebuilt from the foundation up, impact-resistant windows and custom impact NanaWall® sliding doors were installed and offer wide-open views of the white sand and azure waters.
