The butterfly enclosure is a net structure. A uniquely created butterfly environment with a waterfall and shade plants for the butterflies to rest in. Also lots of flowering plants in the sunny area of the enclosure for the butterflies to congregate for feeding. There are over twenty species of local butterflies fluting about inside the enclosure, along with caterpillar feeding displays and information.

One of the best butterfly garden I've been to is the Habitat, the butterfly garden in Bohol. Other than the butterflies, the guides there are also well informed, trained, and funny when they help you go around the garden. Sadly, we're not able to get a lot of shots of a lot of butterflies there unlike my previous visit when I was able to get a shot of the butterfly on my face.

Our day in BOHOL - Philippines
We really enjoyed our day in Bohol. We started off our day by catching a ferry from Cebu to Bohol. We had a driver for the day to take us around to all of the main attractions.
We first stopped off at the man made forest. This forest is full of mahogany trees and a great place to stop and take photos.
We then moved on to the Chocolate Hills. The Chocolate Hills are located in central Bohol. There are over 1000 of them. At the end of the dry season, the grass turns a chocolate brown colour and that is how they get their name.
Next up was the Tarsier Sanctuary. I was really looking forward to seeing these little guys. They were so cute!
We then stopped at the Sipatan Twin Hanging Bridge. Unfortunately, this was the only part of the day that rained which made it a bit more slippery to cross. It was still really fun though.
We then moved onto the Loboc River Cruise. We got to have a buffet lunch on a boat while cruising down the Loboc River. At one point we stopped to watch some locals dancing and playing music. My little sister Hannah joined in the dancing.
After this, we moved on to the Bohol Habitat Conservation Centre where we learned all about butterflies, moths and caterpillars. Butterflies even landed on us. They were so pretty.
The last stop was the Blood Compact Monument. The Blood Compact is a treaty of friendship based on respect and equality between Miguel Lopez de Legazpi of Spain and Rajah Sikatuna of Bohol.
We then said goodbye to our driver and got on the ferry back to Cebu. I would definitely recommend spending time in Bohol when you are in the Philippines.

The Tarsier Sanctuary
Deep in the secondary growth forest foothill of Corella town, in the interior part of Bohol, is an institution dedicated to the preservation and scientific researches on the endemic tarsier of Bohol. This is the Philippine Tarsier and Wildlife Sanctuary of Canapnapan, Corella Bohol, a project of the foundation primarily established with the Program Goal of:
1. To protect the Philippine Tarsier and its habitat from extinction through increased environmental awareness, research programs and establishment of protected areas for wildlife in the Province of Bohol
2. To provide economic and social development opportunities to the local population through the introduction of eco-tourism-related livelihood endeavors.
The Philippine Tarsier and Wildlife Sanctuary of Corella, Bohol is an arm of the Philippine Tarsier Foundation, Inc. (PTFI), a non-stock, non-profit organization established in 1996 to find ways to conserve as well as to promote the tarsier of Bohol. In 1997, with the signing of the MOA between DENR and PTFI the Tarsier Conservation Program was created.
THE TARSIER CONSERVATION PROGRAM COMPONENTS:
a. Conservation: Conservation and preservation of habitat of the threatened Philippine Tarsier is the main objective of this project. The Foundation has dedicated an 8.4 hectare of secondary growth forest as its main conservation area.
At present, an area within the three municipalities of Corella, Sikatuna and Loboc has been identified as a potential sanctuary for the specie. The site is 167has. Timberland area, it is currently under the administration of the DENR and is part of its Social Forestry Project. The proclamation of this area to be included in the National Integrated Protected Area System (NIPAS) Act is essential to the survival of the Philippine Tarsier in Bohol.
b. Eco-tourism: The popularity of Bohol as an eco-tourism destination in the Philippines will play a major role in the success of any eco-tourism development project in the province. A Tourism Development Plan has been formulated by the Provincial Legislators, these policies and management strategies will expand both conservation and development and can provide livelihood opportunities for remote areas.
c. Environmental Awareness :Through the use of facilities at the Philippine Tarsier Research & Development Center and the Wildlife Sanctuary for teaching purposes, the conservation message extends to all walks of life and will be beneficial to both the goals of the conservation project and to the local communities, schools and other local and international groups.
Research: Very little is known about the Philippine Tarsier. Most of the research in the past has primarily been conducted outside Bohol and even the country. And there exist a very strong need to provide and support a research program for both national and international primatologists and wildlife biologists wishing to come to Bohol and study the tarsiers in their natural habitat.
