Boise Valley Railroad eastbound at Orchard Street, Boise, Idaho
January 9, 2020. I’ve been trying to catch a good video at this spot for years. When I worked in this area each morning the eastbound would cruise through here with one loco at close to full throttle up this slight grade. They aren’t pulling too hard today but they have 17 cars on a beautiful snowy day.

Boise Turn special
On April 22-23, 2017 the Union Pacific Steam Engine No. 844 came steaming into Boise. The reason for the occasion was the Boise Train Depot 92nd Anniversary. In September of 2016 I asked the question to my state coordinator to see who to contact to bring the locomotive to Boise. This led to an application being submitted by him and a group of people working at UP. We found out later in January of 2017 that the engine would arrive on Saturday April 22. I work for the Boise Parks & Rec. as a tour guide of the Boise Depot and since starting tour once a month at the depot three years ago the Parks & Rec have now been able to do open houses.
This video highlights the events that took place during the 22-23. Some of the video was shot by me and others was shot by my father. The entire weekend was a great a fun experience.
