Vandals cover London’s Bomber Command war memorial and Churchill statue in paint | ITV News
Police are investigating after vandals covered a statue of Sir Winston Churchill and a war memorial in paint.
The damage to the Bomber Command Memorial in London's Green Park and the statue of the Second World War prime minister in the capital's New Bond Street was discovered on Monday morning.
Both of the statues had been splashed with white paint, Scotland Yard said.
The RAF Benevolent Fund said it was the fourth time in six years that the bomber memorial had been sabotaged and that the white gloss paint remained wet at daybreak when it was discovered.

This is a very quick film on something I saw in London at the weekend - an amazing Memorial to those who gave so much - they will never be forgotten. Well worth a visit & see this Memorial (IDP Film)
The design for the ROOF incorporates sections of aluminum recovered from a Handley Page Halifax III bomber (LW682 from No. 426 squadron) which was shot down over Belgium on the night of 12 May 1944, in which 8 crew were killed.
Three members of the crew were still at their stations when the aircraft was excavated in 1997.
They were buried in Belgium with full military honours alongside the five other members of the crew.
This memorial was officially unveiled by Her Majesty The Queen on 28 June 2012.
It is located in Green Park along Piccadilly.
The closest tube station to the memorial is Hyde Park Corner.
The Bomber Command Memorial was designed by architect Liam O'Connor and was built using Portland stone.
Within the memorial are the bronze sculptures of a Bomber Command aircrew.
The RAF Benevolent Fund is proud and privileged to be the official guardian of the Bomber Command Memorial, which stands as a fitting tribute to the 55,573 Bomber Command crew who lost their lives in the Second World War.
Their aim to preserve the memorial for future generations so that the noble sacrifice of those who lost their lives in Bomber Command will always be remembered.
Please give as much as you can and make sure this great memorial stays as a tribute to all those in Bomber Command who gave their lives in World War II.

They played a pivotal part in bringing the might of Germany to its knees in the Second World War but now there's a new battle brewing over how Bomber Command should be remembered. Campaigners say a permanent memorial in the UK is long overdue. But the plans have sparked an international row with some German politicians who says it's in bad taste and should be scrapped. Plus we interview Jim Dooley the Chairman of The Bomber Command Memorial Committee in the studio.
Bomber Command Memorial vandalised again (UK) - BBC News - 22nd January 2019
The role of Britain's Bomber Command was controversial during World War Two, for its civilian bombings, but a memorial that went up six years ago was vandalised for the fourth time and and brought anger and even outrage by many. It was not the only other memorial vandalised at this time, others were daubed in white paint that might cost thousands of pounds to clean.
There are no plans to close off the memorial as its for people to remember them and hopefully the vandals will see the errors of their way, if they think about it or are caught and forced to face their crimes. This memorial and others should get some more high tech security, even if its just motion sensors cameras and lights to deter anyone late at night.

London Walk Tour : Green Park incl. Bomber Command and Canada Memorials
A first-person perspective London walk tour of Green Park including Bomber Command Memorial and Canada Memorial.
See all the sights as Watched Walker (yes, I’m talking about myself in the third person) takes us on a walking tour through the streets of London, featuring Green Park including Bomber Command Memorial and Canada Memorial. The route begins at the northern end of Green Park by Green Park Station, then travels around the park anticlockwise, reducing time by skipping some stretches of the park, before ending back outside Green Park Station.
Sights seen along the tour include Green Park Station, Diana Fountain (also known as Diana of the Treetops), Bomber Command Memorial, Canada Gate, Buckingham Palace, and Canada Memorial.
And in each video I've hidden a blinking eye, can you spot it? (It could appear more than once). In addition to the blinking eye, I've also added the Watched Walker logo to various scenes–it could be on buildings, vehicles or any other objects, so keep an eye out for it too!
Footage recorded April/August 2017.
