I grabbed some amazing urban exploration footage of the best abandoned places in Idaho, including the Franklin County Sugar Company & the historic ghost town of Bay Horse. I went exploring at the Skylark Mine & got creeped out at the ghost towns of Bonanza & Custer. I even was able to get some shots of the long abandoned Clayton, Idaho.

These 5 Idaho ghost towns gave me some amazing footage, photographs, & also for some straight up unbelievable exploring. I almost drove my truck off a cliff on my way to the Skylark Mine and nearly fell to my death at the Franklin County Sugar Company.

Exploring the ghost town of Custer
In this video, I explore the old ghost town of Custer Idaho. This town has been taken over by the Idaho parks department and preserved so that we can continue to enjoy it. Take a walk around with me as I meet Steven and Morgan and try to get a drink in the saloon.
Silver Horseshoe Mine, Idaho
A slideshow of my Silver Horseshoe mining claim in Custer County Idaho. It's a Gold / Silver / Lead mine next to the famous Horseshoe and Empire mines. The Empire mine was a large copper mine that worked thru the war powers act closure of 1942. It produced over 40,000 ounces of gold!!! The geology is Skarn, and has many interesting lenses of Copper ores and Silver / Lead ores. The gold is often in the rich parts of these lenses. Lots of Galena, Chalcopyrite, and some native silver at this claim. Free gold too!
Custer Motorway / Yankee Fork Road, Stanley Idaho
First experimental try at moving video with the new iPad! I simply held it up against the rear view mirror with the right arm until my shoulder started to ache. It turned out so good I wish I had hung on till KD finished the song. This is the old Custer Motorway between Sunbeam and Challis Idaho. September 2012. Fifty plus miles like this and the only people I saw were 2 guys cutting firewood.

Hard to edit such a beautiful up to 8000ft and back down to Challis. Hundreds of dispersed camping, a true Paradise of a space. Even with a lend still spotted from Spirit's slobbering. Someone has to take the blame!

Explore Idaho and Montana's Ghost Towns along with the breath-taking scenery and other interesting places along the way. We'll try to see most of the abandoned buildings and even look inside a few. Starting at DeLamar and Silver City, Idaho, Idaho City, Placerville, Stanley, Sunbeam, Bonanza, Custer, Bayhorse, Tendoy, and Leadore. Then in Montana, we'll see: Bannack, Nevada City, Virginia City, Pony, Maiden, Giltedge, Kendall, Landusky, Great Falls, Helena, Marysville, Wickes, Comet, Butte, Anaconda, Cable, Georgetown, Southern Cross, Granite, Phillipsburg, Missoula, Superior, and Keystone. Then in Idaho again, we'll see Wallace and Burke, then we'll go through Coeur d' Alene and Spokane, Washington.

A day at Bayhorse
In this video I give thanks to everyone who has watched my videos and subscribed while I take you on a couple of hikes and explore some pretty neat stuff at the Bayhorse State Park near Challis Idaho.
Come along and check out some old mining sites, take in the view from 9000 foot elevation, try a little fly fishing in the wind, and get a sense of the kind of homes miners in the 1800's lived in.

Gilmore Idaho Ghost Town Of The Past - The Gilmore and Pittsburgh Railroad (G&P), now defunct, was an American railroad located in southwestern Montana and east-central Idaho. Constructed in 1909 and 1910 between the towns of Armstead, Montana, and Salmon, Idaho, the G&P served mining and agricultural areas in Lemhi County, Idaho, and Beaverhead County, Montana. The line was financially backed by the Northern Pacific Railway, and later became its subsidiary. Never financially successful, the G&P ceased operations in 1939, and the railroad was dismantled the following year.

Grant's Getaways: Sumpter Dredge
Gold mining once ruled the lands of Eastern Oregon -- a moment in the state's history that faded by turn of the 19th century - During a brief rebound in the gold mining industry in the 1930s (and continuing until 1954), monstrous gold-dredging machines ravaged the Sumpter River Valley floor. Square-bowed and built of steel and wood and iron, the Sumpter dredge (one of three dredges that worked in the valley) lifted and sifted the terrain, reaping a golden harvest worth an estimated $12 million. These days the dredge is an Oregon State Park that invites visitors to go aboard and explore its nooks and crannies with guided tour leaders who give perspective on a distant time and activity that left lasting marks on the Sumpter area.
