A great souvenir shop in Prague? Academia bookstore, by Supreme Prague
Looking for a great souvenir from Prague? Well, a bookstore is actually a really good place where you can buy local souvenirs.
Read blog post and other tips here:
Not only literature: books written by Czech authors, books by Czech/foreign authors about Czech art, architecture, history, etc. But also other nice things: wonderful pictures, postcards, bags, pencils, notebooks, books for kids, etc.
There is a section for foreigners: books in English, Italian, French, Spanish, Korean, and some more.
We filmed in Academia but you can visit other book stores as well, for ex.

Court rules Ashya King, 5, can seek Prague tumour therapy
Britain's High Court has ruled that the parents of Ashya King, the five-year-old boy with a brain tumour, may take him to the Czech Republic for cancer treatment.
They want him to receive proton beam therapy there because it's not available from Britain's health service.
The couple were arrested in Spain after removing him from a British hospital against medical advice following a disagreement with doctors about his treatment.
Brett and Naghemeh King had travelled to Spain where they planned …

David Crystal's talk at IELTS Conference 'The Future of English', Prague 2014 (British Council)
David Crystal is a writer, editor, lecturer, and broadcaster. He published the first of his 100 or so books in 1964, and became known chiefly for his research work in English language studies, in such fields as intonation and stylistics, and in the application of linguistics to religious, educational and clinical contexts, notably in the development of a range of linguistic profiling techniques for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. He held a chair at the University of Reading for 10 years, and is now Honorary Professor of Linguistics at the University of Wales, Bangor.
David Crystal’s authored works are mainly in the field of language, including several Penguin books, but he is perhaps best known for his two encyclopedias for Cambridge University Press, The Cambridge Encyclopedia of Language and The Cambridge Encyclopedia of the English Language. Recent books include The Story of English in 100 Words (2011) and Spell it out: the singular story of English spelling (2012). Co-authored books include Words on Words (2000, a dictionary of language quotations compiled with his wife and business-partner, Hilary – Wheatley Medal, 2001) and Shakespeare’s Words (2002) and The Shakespeare Miscellany (2005), the last two in collaboration with his actor son, Ben. A new book with Hilary Crystal, Wordsmiths and Warriors: the English-language Tourist’s guide to Britain, was published in September 2013. Other Shakespeare work includes a regular article for the magazine of Shakespeare’s Globe, Around the Globe. Think On My Words, an introduction to Shakespeare’s language, appeared in 2008. All Shakespeare books can be viewed at The Shakespeare Portal. A new version of the glossary went live in 2008: see Shakespeare’s Words.

This week is the first of three episodes we shot in the Czech Republic. The other two might be epic adventures, but this one has shock value instead, as we try a Pilsner Urquell collaboration IPA-style beer. A stronger version of the pilsner, hopped to high heaven with cascade and citra, brewed with local craft brewery Matuška.

Jindrich Lion My Escape From Prague (German Audio | English Subtitle)
Jindrich Lion, a noted journalist and author, takes us through his remarkable life--from interwar Czechoslovakia to Palestine, then back home to begin again--only to leave when the Soviets invaded his country in 1968.
Mr Lion shares with us his photo album, made in 1938 when he was sixteen years old-- a teenage witness to a history.
You can get to know about our work by visiting centropa.org
-----
Nestled in Rio, one of the world’s most beautiful libraries
Hidden in Rio de Janeiro, a multi-tiered library makes stunned visitors feel like they've walked into a movie set. Holding some 350,000 books, some of them very rare, the library today is more a tourist attraction and selfie backdrop than a reading room, though for a few it remains an indispensable haven for the largest collection of Portuguese-language books outside of Portugal.
We live in interesting times.

PANEL | Psychedelics & Holotropic Breathwork®-Panel-Discussion at global Conference Prague
& Beyond Psychedelics 2016 was the first global multidisciplinary forum on psychedelics in the Czech Republic, the country with a longstanding history of psychedelic research. More than 60 speakers from all over the world have been there in 2 parallel sessions for 3 days. We gathered to honor the many varieties of psychedelic use, question the war and peace on drugs and discuss the future of psychedelics. We have been there to think, to discuss, to go beyond. This Panel-Discussion was with Jonathan Thompson, Jörg Fuhrmann, Adele Getty and Miroslav Horak.
Jonathan Thompson is the Co-Founder of a resource for building community and family traditions around traditional plant sacraments in the Global North; he is also the father of 3, committed husband, and “sunlights” as Office Manager for a well-established Holistic Health practice in Mid-Michigan. He has a BS in Anthropology from Michigan State University and has spent the last 10 years in management and human resources in the retail and healthcare industry. He also is a business consultant and adviser to holistic start-ups and has founded multiple companies dedicated to plant medicines and cooperative values.
Jörg Fuhrmann is an Expert for Crisis-Navigation, DeHypnosis and Trancetherapy. He has studied Social Science, Transpersonal Psychology and Dramatheatre. He travelled around the World to different Teachers and Shamans for 20 Years now. He´s on a guided spiritual Path of Mysticism by Zen-Master and Bendictian Monk Willigs Jäger and works as a Gestalttherapist (ECP/WCP)/ Eurotas Certified Transpersonal Therapist (ECTP), Spiritual-Emergence-Network-Therapist and as Eurotas- Supervisor (ESTP) in Switzerland, near Lake Constance. He´s Founder of freiraum-Institute and has worked many years as a Board certified Trainer for the National Guild of Hypnotists™ as well as a Speaker and Lecturer at different Universities and in the Board of Directors of the European Transpersonal Association. He´s also a Trainer at the biggest European Centre for Mysticism, Awareness and Zen. Since 2013 he is working on his PhD in Transpersonal Psychology. Actually he is accomplishing his 8-Year-Training in Holotropic Breathwork® with Stan Grof, Tav Sparks and others. He is leading as a Facilitator for Holotropic Breathwork® Workshops and single Sessions in Switzerland.
Adele Getty´s primary work is focused on aspects of the sacred and how to bring the sacred into events, ceremony, and initiatory experiences. She´s particularly interested in the spiritual aspect of deep journey work and curating ways for multi-generational ceremonial gatherings to take place. Adele enjoy´s working with high functioning individuals who have the capacity to create real change in the world at large. The call for a deep ecological view requires learning from indigenous cultures and then consciously creating ways for us as modern people to integrate the plant medicines back into our lives in a new and sacred ceremonial way.

CranioSacral Therapy with John Matthew Upledger
Sponsors:
Facebook Page:
Facebook Group:
Twitter: CST was pioneered and developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger following extensive scientific studies from 1975 to 1983 at Michigan State University, where he served as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics.
CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.
By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including:
Migraine Headaches
Chronic Neck and Back Pain
Motor-Coordination Impairments
Colic
Autism
Central Nervous System Disorders
Orthopedic Problems
Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
Scoliosis
Infantile Disorders
Learning Disabilities
Chronic Fatigue
Emotional Difficulties
Stress and Tension-Related Problems
Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders
Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
Neurovascular or Immune Disorders
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Post-Surgical Dysfunction
SER is a therapeutic process that uses and expands on the principles of CranioSacral Therapy to help rid the mind and body of the residual effects of trauma. SER1 offers applications designed to enhance results using CST and other complementary therapies.
Assess and mobilize the Avenue of Expression working through more than 10 different body components, including the thoracic inlet, hard palate and hyoglossal tissues.
Locate and release Energy Cysts.
Release suppressed emotions that may be inhibiting complete structural releases.
Refine listening and comprehension skills.
Improve palpation and whole-body evaluation skills.

Czech hospital creates retro atmosphere to help seniors feel young again
Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe
An unusual retro-style therapeutic room for elderly patients has opened at the Vitkovicka hospital in Ostrava, Czech Republic, as footage filmed on Friday shows.
Designed and furnished as a typical Czech flat in the 1960s and 1970s, it's aimed at prompting the patients' recovery by bringing back nostalgic memories.
Patients who visit this room are returning back to their childhood. They remember various situations and stories. They came back to the period of their lives, which now, in senior age, they reminisce about gladly, explained the head of nursing stuff Lenka Holubova.
Patients are in a better mood, cooperation with the hospital stuff is better. They feel more relaxed. They definitely get into a different world here, she added.
According to the hospital, vintage couches, armchairs, cabinets as well as telephone, cups, sewing machines and other old-fashioned items were donated by online users, after personnel reached out to them on social media.
The room even has authentic books and magazines from the era, in which the seniors, hospitalised in the aftercare department, lived the best years of their lives.
