Ride On 2019 | Kuching - Kota Kinabalu | Day 1 Miri | Red Riders 10th Anniversary
Red Riders 10th anniversary ride to KK from Kch. About 13 riders participate in this program on 30 March 2019. Our route from Kch using ferry Triso - Pusa, & continue cruising along pain Borneo until Miri town. Honestly the pan Borneo Highway construction currently on going, and the road condition was very challenging that the rider & bike push it's limit. Especially Sibu to Bintulu. We took overnight in Miri to rest & recovery before ride further to Kundasang in the next day.

KOTA KINABALU, MALAYSIAN BORNEO | WHAT TO DO IN A DAY (SAPI ISLAND)
Kota Kinabalu, the gateway to Malaysian Borneo. Yeah, I was confused too about this region of the world! Borneo is split into 3 countries, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei...and Borneo itself is known as one place as a whole even though it's technically 3 different countries that all share the same big island.
Now that that's over, we can get down to what you can do in Kota Kinabalu. In all honesty, I had absolutely no clue what I was going to do there - I wanted to do some rainforest exploration and take in some nature, but when I landed in KK I quickly realised that there actually isn't that much going on here except for a few islands...all the cool stuff online was in Sepilok so I kinda felt like being here was a bit of a waste of time at first.
Luckily, with the help of my friend we went walking along the harbour and found a boat to take us to some nearby islands - one of which is a tiny place called Sapi Island. It was beautiful, I had an awesome time and I hope you get a few ideas of what you can do in KK by watching this video!

Island Hopping in Sabah, Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park MALAYSIA
We headed out to Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, only 20min boat ride from Sabah's capital Kota Kinabalu.
There we headed to various islands for a day of adventure. We experienced the Coral Flyer, a zip line that goes from Gaya Island to Sapi Island, and also tries some snorkelling.
We travelled to Sabah as guests of Sabah Tourism Board.

After a long day, we went for company trip and I can come up with this amazing group video. We did all the water sports!! We made a team to play some games for fun and bonding with each other. The beautiful beach, clean and nice environment. The staff are friendly and the food is good ????
This place is called DREAMER’S island. It’s a private island so you have to make an appointment to go there. This island are located at Sepanggar Kota Kinabalu Borneo. You have to drive to Sepanggar jetty and take the boat for about 6 minutes. You can google it for more information.

SANDAKAN - Borneo, Sabah, Malaysia
Sandakan formerly known at various times as Elopura, is a town in Sabah, Malaysia. It is the second largest town in Sabah after Kota Kinabalu. It is located on the east coast of the state in the administrative centre of Sandakan Division and was the former capital of British North Borneo. The town has an estimated population of 157,330 while the surrounding municipal area has a total population of 396,290.
Before the founding of Sandakan, Sulu Archipelago was the source of dispute between Spain and the Sultanate of Sulu for economic dominance in the region. Sandakan began to prosper when the British North Borneo Company (BNBC) started to build a new settlement in 1879, developing it into an active commercial and trading centre as well as making it the main administrative centre for North Borneo.
Sandakan is one of the main ports for oil, tobacco, coffee, sago, and timber exports. Other economic activities include fishing, ship building, eco-tourism, and manufacturing. Among the tourist attractions in Sandakan are Sandakan Heritage Museum, Sandakan Cultural Festival, Sandakan War Memorial, Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary, Turtle Islands National Park, and Gomantong Caves.

Our Sabah adventure was indeed memorable and unexpected. Contrary to what people might know, Kota Kinabalu is a safe place, majority of locals are warm and friendly. Though it is not as modernize as other countries in Asia, natural resources are being preserved and taken cared of.
Roaming around was effortless, thanks to our very accomodating tour guide turned friend Hafidz who gave us a wonderful and hassle-free experience. We commend him for doing things beyond what is required (i.e offering food/drinks, extended tour time, drop off at the airport - ALL F.O.C. ????????). Credits to Hafidz, we achieved amazing instagrammable photos, including buwis buhay pictorial ????. You will never regret hiring him, He will exceed your expectations and definitely make your trip worthwhile!

Today we went by huge ferry from Brunei to Labuan Island where we bought lots of cheap alcohol. Then we jumped on a boat heading to Kita Kinabalu which is the last city we will visit on Borneo Island. We were stopped by police boat in the sea but fortunately they just did a passport control and let us continue to Kota Kinabalu Malaysia. Today we just found a hostel in Kota Kinabalu and went to the Night market at (surprisingly) night :-P

Day 5 - ITS ALL ABOUT BOATING!! We hired a private boat from Borneo Boats and Beaches for our island hopping and water sports activities. Snorkeled at Manukan Island and we saw the coral reefs! We headed to Gaya Island to kayak and have lunch on the boat and afterwards, we stopped by the other side of Gaya Island to see the floating kampung. In the evening, we hired another private boat for the sunset cruise.
