From Wikipedia: The Glockenspiel House (German: Haus des Glockenspiels) is a building in Bremen in the north of Germany. With its 30 bells of Meissen porcelain, the carillon (Glockenspiel) chimes three times a day while wooden panels depicting pioneering seafarers and aviators appear on a rotating mechanism inside the tower.

The name Böttcherstrasse derives from the coopers (böttcher) who used to live and work there. Today, this narrow lane is home to arts and craft shops and studios. At the start of the 20th century, Ludwig Roselius, a local coffee merchant, began to buy up all the houses in the dilapidated street.
He then had it completely rebuilt, resulting in a creation that is both homogenous and architecturally remarkable. With the help of architects Bernhard Hoetger, Eduard Scotland and Alfred Runge, Roselius – the inventor of decaffeinated coffee – achieved his goal, turning this pathway between the market square and the Weser river into a street of houses designed specially to be of architectural merit, in a mixture of art deco and brick-built styles that has a special charm all of its own. Roselius' principal aim was a return to traditional Low German culture in language, art and crafts.
Top-class shopping in Bremen's oldest pedestrian area: on the way from the market square to the Weser river you can stroll round craft shops and small, exquisite boutiques, watch craftsmen creating glass and visit the Remember store. From 10 April to 20 December also on Sundays from 11am to 4pm.

I recently went on a trip to Northern Germany with my friend, Miriam. It was such a special occasion (mainly to celebrate the end of some important exams) and certainly a trip to remember for years to come!
This is the sixth of a series of vlogs documenting our adventures out there - on this day of out trip, we venture out a little further afield still to Bremen, Germany’s tenth-largest city and one of the three Bundesländer! Follow my friend Miriam and I as we discover together all this amazing city has to offer!

Улица Бёттхерштрассе (нем.Böttcherstraße) - одна из главных достопримечательностей Бремена. Улица длиной 100 м. состоит из семи домов, каждый из которых по праву считается памятником архитектуры. Большая часть зданий построена в период между 1922 и 1931 годами, в необычном и редком архитектурном стиле, названным искусствоведами «кирпичным экспрессионизмом».
Идея создания оригинальной улицы возникла у бременского торговца кофе и мецената Людвига Розелиуса, который известен как изобретатель кофе без кофеина. Вначале он приобрел на этой улице старинный дом с ренессансным фасадом, затем еще несколько домов и для воплощения своих замыслов пригласил известного немецкого архитектора, скульптора и художника-графика Бернхарда Хётгера
На арке при входе на улицу Бётхерштрассе установлен позолоченный барельеф «Несущий свет» работы Бернхарда Хётгера с изображением предводителя небесного воинства архангела Михаила, побеждающего силы тьмы.
Дом карильона .Карильон это музыкальный инструмент, в котором колокола соединены с часовым механизмом.
Самым старым зданием 16-го века является Дом Розелиуса
В 1926–1927 г.г. был построен музей для картин знаменитой немецкой художницы Паулы Модерзон-Беккер представительницы раннего экспрессионизма.

The hotel we got was right in the heart of town, very close to the marketsquare and böttcherstrasse. I liked it!

► Go to the Bremer Ratskeller for food and a wine tour! See the oldest cask wine and taste amazing homemade chocolates along the way.
► MUST SEE! The Bremen town hall with the model ships. Very impressive!!! Don't skip this!
► Walk through the böttcherstrasse
► Visit the historical market square with the town musicians statue amonst other things.
► Go to schlachte embankment for a drink or a sunset stroll, or a market
► Get lost in the small lanes of Schnoor - very pretty old neighborhood!
