Carlsbad Caverns: the main attraction
There are caves and then there are Caverns. Carlsbad is definitely a Caverns class attraction.
There is so much to see and do here that sets New Mexicos Carlsbad apart from other cave attractions that we couldnt possibly list everything in one teaser video like this.
Adventurer Clint Pollock delivers the been-there-done-that experience in this short video featuring Ranger Geologist Paul Burger as they explore and expose Carlsbads Big Room, the 8 acre sized, stalagmite filled room that is 750 feet below ground, the bat flight of thousands of bats every night and, the 1 ¼ mile main entrance switchback trail that follows the original explorers path as they discovered this underground wonder.
Carlsbad is certainly for everyone with its updated elevator system that accommodates anyone wanting to see its secrets revealed. So, bring a flashlight, leave the baby stroller in the car and follow a self guided tour or hook up with one of the ranger guided tours to explore Carlsbad Caverns.
Carlsbad Caverns New Mexico
Join us on an amazing trek through the Chihuahuan Desert of the Guadalupe Mountains (we learned that the mountain in our video to Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico. We took an elevator to go underground and explored the Big Room, strolling in mostly silence passing beautiful rock formations like the Bottomless Pit, Giant Dome, Painted Grotto, and Rock of Ages. We visited during winter, when all the bats had left the caves and migrated south, but we enjoyed nature at its most amazing! State rep proposes bills to fund Carlsbad brine well before it's collapse
It really is a scary thought. A giant brine well that could become a massive sinkhole at any moment swallowing up drivers and part of a New Mexico town. - Source:

Bottomless Lakes, near Roswell, New Mexico
Video I shot of two neighboring lakes. First New Mexico National Park, it was previously believed the lakes were bottomless - Lea Lake is 90 feet.

Dive Across America-Bottomless Lakes, NM
I'm driving cross country from my home in Los Angeles to Cambridge for a journalism fellowship at Harvard. Since I love diving, I decided I try to dive all the sinkholes, quarries and lakes I could get to along the way. Thought I'd share them with you for a different view of the USA.
Here's my first: a sinkhole just 12 miles south of Roswell, New Mexico -- despite a silty gypsum bottom, this spring fed lake has a lot to see--including a bold, little green sunfish--ready to take me on for invading his hood.

Bottomless Lake/ Roswell NM Camping in winter
Our first trip out west in the RV and we found out that it can get cold in New Mexico. Roswell was a place that we wanted to visit even if it was only a drive through to say we had been there. we also weanted to see what the town looked like, alot bigger than we expected. Our drive up from San Antonio took longer than we hoped which brought us into Roswell later in the evening. We searched online and our camping apps and foundsome campgrounds in town, but being that it was so late and that the town was a stop and go for us, we didn’t want to pay for a full hook up site. being that it was so cold we did need electric hook ups though, so we could turn on the fireplace and plug in a space heater. we were not set up for boondocking yet, we had a small battery and no generator. The Propane furnace works well but with a small battery without full electric hook up the fan motor would run the battery dead in a matter of hours. we came across Bottomless Lake State Park just outside of Roswell and you could check in at anytime.
We pulled into the park and checked the bulletin board-find an open site and pay in the morning- so we did. we found a spot backed in, plugged in electric and leveled and put the slides out, it was to cold to run a water hose. The next day we walked through the campground, played on the playground, and headed on our way. we did a quick drive through Roswell and coul;dnt find a good spot to park our rig. The truck and trailer are 59ft long. The weather wasnt cooperating so iot was still cold and we felt that just a drive through was good.
