FNN: President Trump Meets with Aya Hijazi, Egyptian-American Freed After 3 Years in Cairo Jail

WASHINGTON – An Egyptian-American charity worker freed after nearly three years of detention in Egypt returned Thursday night to the United States, the White House said.
Aya Hijazi, 30, and her husband, Mohamed Hassanein, an Egyptian, arrived in the Washington area, said a White House official who was not authorized to discuss the case by name and requested anonymity.
Earlier this week a court acquitted Hijazi of charges of child abuse that were widely dismissed as bogus by human rights groups and U.S. officials. She and her husband had established a foundation to aid street children in 2013, but were arrested along with several others in 2014.
Her case was on the agenda when President Donald Trump met earlier this month with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi.
Details of their arrival were first reported by The Washington Post. Their release and the freedom of four other humanitarian workers were negotiated by Trump and White House aides, and Trump sent a U.S. government aircraft to Cairo to bring them home, the Post reported.
Hijazi, a dual national, was born in Egypt and grew up in Falls Church, Virginia, a Washington suburb. She received a degree in conflict resolution from George Mason University in 2009.

Jeanne Moos reports on a fast food flap that has one diner fried. See below for KFC's full response provided to CNN on June 22:
“Recently, a customer questioned the quality of a KFC product, and this received considerable publicity given the sensational nature of his claim. The product has now been tested by a third-party independent lab, which confirmed it is definitely a piece of chicken, as we knew all along. The right thing for this customer to do is to apologize and cease making false claims about the KFC brand.”

The House managers wrapped up their arguments against President Trump on Jan. 24. Trump’s team, including lawyers Pat Cipollone and Jay Sekulow, now has 24 hours to present their case. After Trump’s lawyers conclude their presentation, senators will have an opportunity to submit questions to both sides in writing. Following that, debate will turn to whether to call witnesses and subpoena documents.
Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives in December for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Impeachment does not mean that the president has been removed from office. In the next phase, the Senate must hold a trial to make that determination. A Senate impeachment trial has happened only two other times in American history and once in the modern era. At the center of the Democrats’ case is that Trump sought to withhold military assistance and an Oval Office meeting until Ukraine announced investigations into former vice president Joe Biden and his son.

Annandale Boys & Girls Club (VIDEO)
bcproductionsva.com Annandale Boys and Girls Club was founded in 1959 by Everett G Germain Jr., and its the oldest youth soccer and tee ball club in Virginia. He served as president for 47 years.
The mission of the Annandale Boys & Girls Club is to provide a variety of instructional, recreational and competitive youth sports opportunities, emphasizing learning, teamwork and sportsmanship, focusing on age-appropriate player development that is fun, improves self-esteem, self-confidence, and respect for others.
Mr Germain, a lawyer, devoted countless hours to the youth club he founded.
The club's Annandale Bulldogs football program was the clubs first sport winning many titles.
The club, formed out of his home, later moved to Mr. Germain's law offices, offering football, baseball, & basketball.
In 1962, Mr. Germain started the soccer program in Annandale with 4 teams and 50 kids. Since there were no other programs or competition in the area, the teams played among themselves. 1968 the search for competition spawned the travel soccer program, with trips to Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York, Canada and Mexico.
The club grew to be one of the largest youth soccer programs in the country at one time, capturing national titles and international trophies from North America and Europe and yielding numerous national and international professional athletes.
In 1963 T-Ball was introduced to Kindergarten to 2nd graders. This sport was offered a no pressure way to throw, field and bat for beginners.
ABGC started a high school club league and then lobbied for varsity status for boys' and girls' soccer programs in Fairfax County high schools. He then managed a professional soccer team and funded 10 women's college club programs in Virginia. He also started an apprenticeship program, modeled after the British system, that immersed players in professional-level soccer training while they maintained a college curriculum.
ABGC was the first club to guarantee every athlete to play ½ of every game regardless of his size or physical ability” in order to insure participation and growth of every child.
Annandale Boys’ and Girls’ Club was instrumental in the creation of other well known clubs such as Montgomery Soccer, Alexandria Soccer Club, Lee Mount Vernon Soccer Association, Sterling Soccer, and the Washington Junior Darts, for the Washington Darts Professional soccer Team in the NASL.
In addition to year-round soccer and boxing programs, the club offers, Football, Cheerleading, Field Hockey Basketball Wrestling, Lacrosse, Baseball & T-Ball.
Affiliated programs held at ABGC facilities include, Kazaxe, Jazzercise, Tai-Chi, & Kung Fu.
in 2013, D.C. United, Adidas and Annandale Boys & Girls Club (ABGC) established a partnership to be one of D.C. United’s primary sources in identifying and developing the top youth talent in Virginia. United will share its coaching resources and will work with ABGC to follow its training curriculum and system of play. Top layers in the ABGC system, identified by both D.C. United and ABGC, will have the opportunity to join the D.C. United Academy teams, with a strong priority being placed on the Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 age groups.
The club has produced seven national championship soccer teams and two national championship basketball teams. The clubs alumni include professional boxers, football and soccer players. Todd Wilson and Edgar Torres, both were successful professional boxers. Scott Norwood played in a Super bowl for the Buffalo Bills. Ray Crittenden, and Charles Gardner also played in the NFL. You could easily spend a week in DC, especially if you want to see George Washington’s house in Mount Vernon and Thomas Jefferson’s house in Monticello. Trump Impeachment Trial: Q&A begins (Day 8)
With opening arguments wrapped up in President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial, the next phase begins. For the next two days, senators get to ask questions of both legal teams. During that time, people will be looking for signs of whether enough Republicans will cross the aisle and agree to bring in witnesses -- particularly former national security adviser John Bolton.
