Bargains in the Mall May 2016 - Antiques with Gary Stover
found some very interesting bargains and very interesting unusual vintage & antique pieces at the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall in Denver yesterday, so I've devoted this week's show to showing you what I found! There's a large Pepsi Cola radio from the '50's, a Miller Brothers 101 Ranch booklet from the '20's, a great grain painted pie safe c. 1850, a 20 x 16 studio photo c. 1870, and many other items. Some of the questions we'll be trying to answer are: can you have collectible advertising pieces made long after the company doing the advertising has gone out of business? ( is that a trick question?), why does anything Western sell for far more than relative comps even those from the old Confederacy?, what's a double camel saddle & who cares?.
Fiesta Dinnerware - Antiques with Gary Stover
In all the 6 years I've been doing these shows we've never featured Fiesta dinnerware Fiestaware! For years I tried to persuade 2 of the great Fiesta collectors to come on my show, but I think they were too bashful. So, I'm doing this week's show without them (but I'm borrowing part of their outstanding collection to feature)!. The Hoffman's of Denver truly do have one of the world's great collections of vintage Fiestaware--all the shapes, all the colors, so I had to be selective + I added one piece I just picked up myself. There are the 5 colors debuted in 1936, the turquoise in 1937, the '50's colors in 1950. We'll look at the history of the Homer Laughlin Company & track the introduction of the shapes & colors, and when they were discontinued, and we'll look at the marks to help us determine age. If you're ever in the Denver area be sure to stop in to the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall & ask to look at the Hoffman's great collection of Fiestaware. You'll probably find shapes you never knew existed.

Bargains Under $100 in the iAntique Classifieds - Antiques with Gary Stover
I've selected 10 items, all priced under $100, recently listed in the iAntique Classifieds & compared them with comparable items recently listed on ebay. You'll see why I call the iAntique listings bargains! I've previously done shows on the advantages to dealers for listing on iAntique, but in this show I'll try to show you why it is equally advantageous to buy with us. There are some midcentury modern pieces, vintage advertising, railroadiana, and I'm really interested in getting feedback from someone in the Des Moines area about a set of handcuffs listed by someone at the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall there.
