⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Brazilian Day Festival Kicks Off in Manhattan - New York City
This grand event, Brazilian Day in New York, is celebrating its 35th anniversary. Brazilian Day in New York City. This celebration of the Brazilian Culture takes place in the heart of Little Brazil, West 46th. Street. Every year Brazilian Day in New York takes over 25 blocks, all surrounding Little Brazil.
The festival started with the purpose of celebrating Brazilís Independence Day here in New York. That small celebration started in 1984 by Joao DeMatos, the founder of Brazilian Day in New York. The first few festivals attracted a couple hundred people. But boy has it grown since then! It now attracts over 1.5 million. This is according to official information from NYPD for Brazilian Day 2013.
People come from as close as Long Island and New Jersey to as far as Japan and Africa! Brazilian Day in New York also attracts a diverse group. People come from all over the world and the United States! They all share the same special bond of loving and celebrating the beautiful Brazilian Culture. To get to the festival some travel in groups or ìcaravansî, some commute by bus, some fly in, and others will drive hundreds of miles to be there. No one wants to be left out of this party, which is now considered the worldís biggest Brazilian event outside Brazil and one of the greatest ethnic events in the Big Apple.
The organizers of Brazilian Day in New York are Joao DeMatos, the founder and producer of Brazilian Day in New York, The Brasilians Newspaper, and TV Globo International. This year the team is expecting a record number of participants for the 30th celebration. There are no precise estimates of how many Brazilians are currently living in the United States. However, the Brazil Information Center (BIC), a non-profit poll organization based out of Washington, D.C., estimates that there are over 1 million Brazilians throughout the entire country. Of those, 300 thousand live in the three-state area of New York, Connecticut and New Jersey. The NGO also estimates that 100 thousand Brazilians live in the borough of Queens, New York. Ironically, Queens, New York happens to be the most diverse area IN THE WORLD!
The Brazilian Day in New York festival is not your typical celebration! It has become an opportunity to reach out to the Brazilian community in the United States. On that one very special day, Brazilians from far and wide get together from different parts of the world, many coming from Brazil just to attend the festival. They show their pride and love for their culture. A culture that is so rich in life, music, good food, good friends and good times! They have a chance, for one day, to truly celebrate Brazil while being so far away from home. One day to color New York City Green and Yellow with Brazilian Pride!

Lyrics:
We are the 5 Boroughs
in NY State
And we make up New York City
Yeah, our core Manhattan is great
We are the 5 Boroughs
And we’ve got lots to say
Located on the East Coast
in the great US of A
Hello I am Manhattan
The most densely populated Borough see
Of New York City
And coextensive with New York County
I’m surrounded by the Hudson River bordering New Jersey to my West
And the East and Harlem River
with the Upper Bay to my south I attest
I host Central Park, The Statue of Liberty
And the Empire States Building
As well as Rockefeller Center,
Times Square and High Line if that’s your thing!
My names Brooklyn I’m to the Southeast of Manhattan And attached to Queens
And the most populous of the 5 Borough’s
visit me and fulfill your dreams
I touch the North Atlantic Ocean
Also Lower, Upper and Jamaica Bay
The Brooklyn Bridge connects me to Manhattan over the East River all day
Coney Island’s a classic attraction
of mine, you could see
Or Soldiers' and Sailors' Arch
is something you may have seen in a movie
Queens, here I’m North of and attached to Brooklyn as shown here
To the North and West, the Bronx and Manhattan are across the East River real near
I also touch the North Atlantic Ocean
And the Jamaica Bay
Come to see the Queensboro Bridge, Citi Field, and my famous Unisphere and play
We are the 5 Boroughs
in NY State
And we make up New York City
Yeah, our core Manhattan is great
We are the 5 Boroughs
And we’ve got lots to say
Located on the East coast
in the great US of A
I’m the Bronx the Northernmost of the 5 Boroughs of NYC
I border to my west across the Hudson River New Jersey
I touch the Hudson, Harlem and East River
And also the Long Island Sound
Visit Yankee Stadium, the Bronx Zoo, And Pelham Bay Park if you’re around
Hi I’m Staten Island the southernmost of New York City's 5 boroughs
connected to Lower Manhattan via the Staten Island Ferry you know
I touch the Upper, Lower And Raritan Bay
And the Arthur Kill
Tour NBC Studios, Staten Island Zoo
And High Rock Park to get your thrills
We are the 5 Boroughs
in NY State
And we make up New York City
Yeah, our core Manhattan is great
We are the 5 Boroughs
And we’ve got lots to say
Located on the East Coast

Sao Paulo: Brazil’s Favorite Destination for Events and Incentive Travel!CNN ranks São Paulo as the city with the 4th best nightlife in the world.São Paulo is the Latin American capital in the sector, according to the ranking, and the major seventh in the world. Hong Kong fell six positions in the year and came in 12th, better position in Asia. Johannesburg, in 18th, is the only African representative, and Dubai, 28th, has the strongest fashion the Middle East. This year's list has some rookies such as Vancouver (31st place), Seoul (34th) and St. Petersburg (51)
Sao Paulo exceeds NY and has largest fleet in the world helicopters,Sao Paulo exceeds Berlin in global influence,Sao Paulo exceeds NY and wins title of best Christmas destination in search.
Fabulous Sao Paulo is Brazil’s largest city and the most populous megapolis in the entire Southern Hemisphere. The world’s ninth largest metropolis is located in Southeastern Brazil—in the State that shares its name—and is the commercial and industrial heart of the South American giant, a country that has made great strides in the last few years to become a world economic power while helping and assisting the perennially underserved populations of its urban centers and rural areas.
Sao Paulo is also a world-renowned center for art, culture, entertainment and sophistication, unlike any other Latin American city. Practically an open air museum with neighborhoods and buildings of historical value—it ranks first among the cities that host international events in the Americas and 12th in the world, after Vienna, Paris, Barcelona, Singapore, Berlin, Budapest, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Seoul, Lisbon and Copenhagen. And according to a study by MasterCard in 130 cities around the world, São Paulo was the third most visited destination in Latin America with 2.4 million foreign travelers, who spent US$2.9 billion in 2013 (the highest among the cities in the region). Some of the most relevant annual events include the Sao Paulo Biennale, Brazilian Grand Prix, Sao Paulo Fashion Week and the ATP Brazil Open, as well as the largest gay pride parade in the country, which draws over one million visitors every year.
Paris:
“Paris’ grandeur is inspiring but what I love most about the city is its intimacy. Its quartiers (quarters) are like a patchwork of villages, and while it’s one of the world’s major metropolises – with all of the culture and facilities that go with it – there’s a real sense of community at the local shops, markets and cafes that hasn’t changed since my childhood. Yet because every little ‘village’ has its own evolving...”
Rio de Janeiro:
There's no other place like Rio. It's a combination of many things that I find so captivating: walking through parks inside the city and seeing monkeys and toucans; spending the evening catching music jams around Lapa; joining a few friends amid the roaring crowds at Maracanã; or greeting the sunrise (after an early morning or late night) from Copacabana Beach. In moments like these you realize you're hooked.
New York:
“While there are many reasons to fall for New York, I’ve always loved the energy here. There’s so much creativity in the air, with wildly imaginative works filling the city’s galleries and concert halls – not to mention its restaurants, with ever more inventive mash-ups of global cuisines. Despite living for many years in New York, I never tire of exploring the metropolis. You can cross continents with the mere swipe...”

Flash flood and severe thunderstorm warning in New York the other night so I knew I had to go out and make a video. Binaural rain and umbrella ambience sounds while walking in thunderstorm in New York City. Best if listened to with headphones for a completely immersive surround sound experience. Walking takes place in Manhattan, NYC and includes some of walking in Times Square. There are some moments of insane downpour rainfall and other moments of light rain mixed with the sounds of New York City traffic and city noises. There wasn't a planned destination. This was just walking aimlessly through the big city. Sounds good for entertainment. I really wish I had my camera with me at the time. Would have been awesome. I hope you like my video. Enjoy!

Canada Border Crossing from USA on foot
Crossing the border from USA into Canada on foot across Rainbow Bridge.
To get to Canada from the USA, cross Rainbow Bridge from Niagara Falls, New York USA into Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. To leave the United States of America, walk through a self locking metal turnstile gate without needing to show any id at this point, half way across the Rainbow Bridge there is a bronze plaque on the bridge fence indicating the United States / Canada International Boundary Line, this area is also notated with the Canadian flag flying next to the USA flag. To enter Canada after crossing the International Boundary Line you must show your passport to customs agents before entering the country of Canada, there is no fee for this process but when you want to cross the same bridge back into the USA there is a .50 cent fee.
Walking across Rainbow Bridge takes under10 minutes, the time to show your passport to the agent at the Canadian border and the agents at the USA when returning to The United States of America cannot be determined as the time varies based on how many border agents or people trying to enter the country at any given time.
There are excellent views of Niagara Falls from both the USA and Canada, but they are both very different, the view of the falls from Canada shows a more natural less built up look, where as the view of Niagara Falls from the USA shows more of a city built up look.

What It's Like Working On A New York City Food Truck
Food trucks are everywhere in most major cities in the United States, including New York City. To understand what it's really like to run a successful food truck, we spent a full day with the crew of Yumpling, which has served traditional Taiwanese food since 2017.
The day starts at 1am when co-owner Christopher Yu picks up the truck and stakes out a parking spot in Brooklyn or Manhattan. After parking the truck, Chris turns on the generator, which powers the food truck's refrigerator and freezer. Because of New York City regulations that state someone must remain in the truck while it's parked, Chris will camp out for the rest of the night. He can't sleep in the back of the truck and must remain at the wheel. The truck doesn't have heat or air conditioning, which can make for tough winters and summers.
Morning prep starts at 7 am when the team prepares salads, fries chicken, cooks rice, and labels containers for lunch, which Yumpling starts serving at 11:30 am. Some customers begin lining up as soon as 11 am. On the morning we spent with Yumpling there was a line down the street five minutes after they opened.
The truck doesn't pay rent in the traditional sense, but it does accumulate parking tickets throughout the day. Parking tickets for the truck range in price from $65 to hundreds of dollars. Some days the truck receives two or three tickets, while on others it manages to avoid parking fines.
