St Mark's Church, Silvertown or St Mark's Church, Victoria Docks is a former church building in Silvertown in east London, located on North Woolwich Road.
It takes one of its names from the nearby Royal Docks.
It was listed as Grade II in 1971and now houses the Brick Lane Music Hall.
The church was founded as a joint church and school, housed in an iron building and opened in 1857.
The building survived the war but the decline of the London docks in the 1960s led to a sharp drop in local population and major slum clearances in the area.
The church was declared redundant in 1974 and its parish merged with those of two of its former mission churches, St Barnabas' and St John's – St Barnabas was also declared redundant, with St John's becoming the sole church for the resulting parish of North Woolwich with Silvertown.
The church building was bought in 1979 by Newham Council, with the intention of turning it into a museum.
A major fire in 1981 largely destroyed the roof, which was replaced between 1984 and 1989.
After the fire the Brick Lane Music Hall took on the building, converting it to its present use in 2003–2004 to host traditional music hall and (since 2006) produced shows.
Brick Lane Music Hall had opened in 1982 in the former Truman’s Brewery building in Brick Lane, before moving to Shoreditch and then its present building.
It was established by Vincent Hayes, who had previously performed with his band at the Lord Hood pub, where he was landlord during the 1980s.
The church's exterior was left largely unchanged, whilst a stage, bar, kitchen and lighting and sound equipment were added to the interior, with offices housed in the church's former vestry.
In 2004 a mural was painted on the wall behind the church's exterior war memorial, whilst a new lighting and sound rig was installed in October 2006.
Audiences are seated at tables in a cabaret-style arrangement and food is served during the interval at matinees and before the show in the evenings.
Brick Lane Music Hall is licensed for weddings and civil partnership ceremonies as well as being involved in workshops for schools, as well as taking shows to community centres, care homes and hospices throughout the East End.

Brick Lane is really amazing on a Sunday! One of the hidden gems of London is Brick Lane, a really vibrant market in east London E1. On a Sunday 10-4pm there is live music, street food from around the world, vintage fashion, bric bracs. Nearest tube is Aldgate East. Brick Lane has historically been a safe haven and destination for many generations of immigrants to London. This part of East London has seen the French Huguenots fleeing from Catholic persecution, Jewish refugees from throughout the world, and most recently the Bangladeshi people who has brought with them their food expertise to the delight of Londoners! The Brick Lane has also been traditionally a market each sunday selling vintage clothes and homeware, but now it is predominantly a really fantastic street food market. The incredible variety of food here is staggering, ranging from Shanghai dumplings, to Malaysian sweet cakes, to Gourmet hot dogs. You really don't need to travel out of London, because the world is already here in London and cooking some top notch street food. Why don't you come to London and stay in our top short stay London apartments.

Brick Lane Music Hall - Pantomime 2008/9 - Lowri Ann Richards
Lowri Ann Richards - opening scene to Snow White and The Dwarf. Queen Anastasia, a very wicked Queen indeed. Great show, great food, it was like stepping back in time. Very funny pantomime with a great plot written by Chris Emmett.
The brainchild of Vincent Hayes, Brick Lane Music Hall was inspired by the popularity of the Lord Hood, where he was landlord in the 80s and regularly performed with his band of talented artists on an impromptu stage made from beer crates.
Vincent resolved to bring music hall-style entertainment to a wider audience and in 1992 opened Brick Lane Music Hall in the former Trumans Brewery building in Londons famous Brick Lane, from where it takes its name. After a move to larger premises in Shoreditch, the Music Hall has finally settled in Silvertown, in the Royal Docks area, next to London City Airport.
The building where the Music Hall is now housed is the former church of St Marks, built in the 1870s by Samuel Teulon, the acclaimed French architect. The building is of historic interest for its unique gothic brick exterior and the grace of its interior design. Having been deconsecrated in the 1980s the building could have been destroyed by fire had it not been for the weight of pigeon-muck on the roof which fell and quickly extinguished the flames! The building was carefully restored but then remained empty for many years before being offered as a distinguished home for Brick Lane Music Hall. A Grade II listed building, the exterior remains largely unchanged, while the interior has been tastefully refurbished to retain all of its former character, whilst housing a full stage, lighting and sound, a bar, offices and kitchen and all the conveniences of a modern-day theatre.
Audiences are seated at tables in a cabaret-style arrangement. Evening audiences are treated to a three-course dinner before the show, afternoon audiences are served a full afternoon tea during the interval. Vincent leads most of the shows, with many of the artists who appeared at The Lord Hood, together with new performers, some from local colleges, and other experienced performers who come to enjoy the special atmosphere of Brick Lane Music Hall, where every show is unique and laughter is always top of the bill.
