Camden Town Brewery - Love for lager
“I just love our Hells,” says proprietor Jasper Cuppaidge in praise of his favourite beer from the Camden Town Brewery. As the British beer drinkers obviously love the Hells lager just as much, the brewery’s owner was compelled to take action: capacities needed upsizing – and so he opened an entire new brewery.

London Districts: Greenwich (Documentary)

Greenwich is now the capital district of what is now officially called the 'Royal Borough of Greenwich' since 2012.
In terms of domes around the world, the Millennium Dome is the biggest. The dome is 365 metres in diameter and 52 metres high with those 12 yellow supporting poles running through it. This represents days, weeks and months of the year.
The Emirates Air Line looks quite slow but it takes 10 minutes to cross the water and they double that speed in rush hour for the commuters.
The Cutty Sark was built in 1869 and sailed from London to Shanghai the next year full of wine, beer and spirit exports. It came back from Shanghai full to the brim with over a million pounds of tea.
The Greenwich Foot Tunnel took 3 years to build from 1899 to 1902. The very industrial steel panel section at the north end of the tunnel is the result of steel repairs after Second World War bomb damage. The tunnel is classed as a public highway which means, by law, it must be kept open 24 hours a day, everyday.
The name Greenwich dates back more than 1100 years. The 'Green' part of the name is self explanatory but the 'nwich' or 'wich' part refers to a 'harbor' or 'trading place'.
Greenwich has a lot of restaurants, markets, pubs, places to see and things to practically do and partake in. Of the 32 London boroughs, there are 4 with royal status. For 80 years there were only 3 but Greenwich was allowed to join the club to become the fourth in 2012 by order of the Queen. Greenwich once tried to apply for city status to become the 'City of Greenwich' but that got refused.
Greenwich is very well connected by transport. There are a lot of bus routes connected by a central bus station, boat services to Central London and 5 different types of train station serving different parts of the district.
Greenwich Park itself has always had 'royal' status along with Green Park and Hyde Park and some others. Some of the trees you can see in the park are over 350 years old.
King Edward the II asked Christopher Wren to design the Royal Observatory for some serious astronomy. They built it in 1675 for £520 and its still the largest telescope in the UK. The 'Public Standards of Length' on the wall in the park physically demonstrate precise lengths from the imperial measurement system.
Before the Observatory, there wasn't really any official, standardised way of measuring time around the world. Over centuries, sailors decided it made sense to sync their clocks to the already established
'Greenwich Mean Time' or 'GMT' which is now just known as Universal Time.

London Districts: Camberwell (Documentary)

The Nymphalis Antiopa (aka the Camberwell Beauty) is a particularly rare species of Butterfly. Apparently, they like hanging out in Camberwell. Their first recorded sighting occurred here in 1748.
Camberwell is a district within the London Borough of Southwark, 3 miles from Charing Cross. The area is known for art study and display, the most prominent examples being the Camberwell College of Arts and neighbouring South London Gallery.
Each year, the long-running Camberwell Arts Festival takes place during the summer. It was part of the Parish of St Giles along with Peckham, Nunhead, some of Herne Hill and most of Dulwich.
There are various theories about the name Camber, but it is clear that the last syllable alludes to the clean, healing waters from the mineral springs and wells on the southern slope of Denmark Hill. Treatment was available from them by those forced out of the city if they became inflicted with a contagious disease like leprosy.
Rat Records has been a Camberwell draw for more than 15 years. They stock a rich variety and vinyl hunters queue outside it on Saturday mornings to get first dibs on that week’s 500 or so batch of new presses.
Archaeologists confirmed discovery of the original 2000+ year old Camber Well dug up from under a woman's garden lawn in 2009. 19th Century Ordinance Survey maps pinpointed its location as accurately as just two feet away from its original spot.
This little village green known as Camberwell Green has traditionally held an annual fair going back to the ancient period of the 13th century on this same spot. It rivalled that of Greenwich.
The Hill Bakery & Deli moved here from Deptford in 2015 from a guy who abandoned the corporate world of journalism to bake bread for his neighbours in Telegraph Hill. They use naturally leavened (aka sourdough) bread made with a wild yeast culture and proudly showcase other small-scale, local producers of craft beer from Brixton, pasta from Dulwich, jams and preserves from Hackney and cheese from Sussex. None of which you will find in any supermarket.
Denmark Hill, Maudsley Hospital and Ruskin Park were all named after prominent figures living nearby at their inception. Maudsley hospital, 1907, dates back to the foundation of Bethlem, or Bedlam Royal Hospital in 1247 as the first psychiatric institution on the planet. Liverpool Street railway terminus now covers over its original site.
Ruskin park also opened in 1907 to champion diverse green spaces. It stretches itself to Brixton and Herne Hill with facilities that include ponds, tennis and games courts, a kid's play area and paddling pool, formal gardens and a charming wooden bandstand. Most of these are dog free for the comfort and safety of children and their carers and to help protect the parks wildlife.
The park is useful to staff, patients and families travelling to and from King's College and Maudsley hospitals immediately adjacent as well as for exercise and escaping the pressures of ward life.

Locals get together for the Art of Brew Beer Fest - VLOG #11

Today they enjoyed their first annual Art of Brew Beer Fest, and I was there to join in the fun, take some pictures and enjoy the great local beers that were being served.
Award winning Fish and Chip restaurant in South-East London
The Brockley's Rock, which opened in July 2011, is a fish and chip shop that defies comparison. With a menu that consists of grilled food (Salmon, Seabass and Halloumi) and Gluten-Free Tuesdays, alongside the Cod and Chips staple, we've set ourself aside from the local competition.
Over the last 3 years 'the Rock' has attained a more than modest set of accolades which range from 'Best Chip Shop' awarded by the New Cross Scouts to 'The Best Chips in London 2014' awarded by National Chip Week.
Be sure to see more of the Brockley's Rock over the years as we're active in the local community. We sponsored Hilly Fields Festival earlier on in the year and we enjoy running in the local 5k with dozens of locals. We always love to see brand new faces.

Old water factory on Park Road, Chislehurst
Park Road is the site of Chislehurst Mineral Waters Factory which produced pure aerated water. The glass bottles marked with the initials of the proprietor, Harry Lines, sometimes get unearthed in local gardens today and quite frequently 'pop' up on eBay
