Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale tour #TravelTips
One of the biggest theaters in the United States, Broward Center for the Performing Arts can very well also be considered one of the most beautiful, as it stands in front of the Waterways of Fort Lauderdale.
Ranking among the top ten most-visited theaters in the world, the Center presents more than 700 performances each year to more than 700,000 patrons.
We were at this theater in May 2017 and we had the opportunity to watch Matilda, the musical; a lovely play done beautifully by a talented cast that took the Broadway play on the road.
The phenom Hamilton play also was presented in this theater among many other shows and plays.
There are several dining options to make a full date out of going to Broward Center fo the Performing Arts, ranging from the Intermezzo Lounge, the Latam Airlines Club Level, Marti´s New River Bistro, Abdo new River Room and A Light Bite.
Of course, we took all the images from a tour of the theater as we cannot take during performances. The photo we have from the performance of Matilda was provided by Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

Fort Lauderdale is a city in the U.S. state of Florida, on the Atlantic coast 23 miles (37 km) north of Miami. It is the county seat of Broward County. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 165,521.[4] It is a principal city of the South Florida metropolitan area, which was home to 5,564,635 people at the 2010 census.
The city is a popular tourist destination, with an average year-round temperature of 75.5 °F (24.2 °C), and 3,000 hours of sunshine per year. Greater Fort Lauderdale which takes in all of Broward County hosted 12 million visitors in 2012, including 2.8 million international visitors. The city and county in 2012 collected $43.9 million from the 5% bed tax it charges, after hotels in the area recorded an occupancy rate for the year of 72.7 percent and an average daily rate of $114.48. The district has 561 hotels and motels comprising nearly 35,000 rooms. Forty six cruise ships sailed from Port Everglades in 2012. Greater Fort Lauderdale has over 4,000 restaurants, 63 golf courses, 12 shopping malls, 16 museums, 132 nightclubs, 278 parkland campsites, and 100 marinas housing 45,000 resident yachts.[5]
Fort Lauderdale is named after a series of forts built by the United States during the Second Seminole War. The forts took their name from Major William Lauderdale (~1782-1838), younger brother of Lieutenant Colonel James Lauderdale. William Lauderdale was the commander of the detachment of soldiers who built the first fort.[6] However, development of the city did not begin until 50 years after the forts were abandoned at the end of the conflict. Three forts named Fort Lauderdale were constructed; the first was at the fork of the New River, the second at Tarpon Bend on the New River between the Colee Hammock and Rio Vista neighborhoods, and the third near the site of the Bahia Mar Marina.

Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale worship leader and vocal instructor Amy Evans
is where you find south Florida's talented vocal lessons teacher and instructor at Oceans Edge school of worship which is a ministry of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale.
Amy Evans was born to sing. A south Florida native, Amy performed her first solo in church at the age of four, and hasn't stopped singing since! Amy graduated from the Palm Beach Atlantic University in 1998 on a full scholarship with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance, performing along the way at the prestigious Kravis Center for the Performing Arts with the Palm Beach Opera and the Palm Beach Symphony. Her professionally trained Soprano voice has since caught the ear of the entertainment industry's most prominent vocal teacher. Seth Riggs, who's students include Josh Groban and Barbara Streisand, regards Amy Evans vocal technique as one of the most skilled that he has had the opportunity to work with. She now uses that technique to train students in both the classical and contemporary vocal styles. Amy has served as an in-demand vocal consultant to ministry worship teams around the country and currently serves as a vocal consultant for the music ministry of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, whose congregation stands at over 20,000. Amy is an energetic, dynamic and independent voice instructor who loves to teach singers of all ages. Challenging, passionate and friendly, her desire is to see each student maximize his or her God Given Singing Talents, and to reach their fullest potential.
Calvary Chapel of Fort Lauderdale is one of the largest Protestant evangelical churches in the United States. According to the Hartford Institute for Religion Research, it is the largest megachurch in Florida, with approximately 18,000 worshipers attending on average.[1] Founded in 1985 by Bob Coy, it is affiliated with the Calvary Chapel movement. In 1999, the church relocated into a 75-acre (300,000 m2) tract of land formerly owned by Harris Corporation, which now has a 3,700 seat sanctuary, children and youth ministries, and includes a skateboard park.
Church Affiliated Ministries

ActiveWord

[edit]Local Controversy
In October of 2003, Calvary Chapel sued Broward County for $1.00 for their initial refusal to allow the church to display a large cross and sign reading Jesus is the reason for the season in a 2-mile holiday lights attraction at Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, FL which drew around 250,000 visitors each year.[3] Calvary won the suit in November and was allowed to display the message.
