North Grand Island Bridge
The North Grand Island Bridge is a pair of twin two-lane truss arch bridges spanning the Niagara River between Grand Island and Niagara Falls in New York, United States. Each bridge carries one direction of Interstate 190 (I-190). Both crossings are operated by the New York State Thruway Authority as part of the Niagara Thruway. The northbound span opened in 1935;[1] the southbound span was finished in 1965.[2]
A southbound-only toll is collected on the Grand Island side of the bridge. Lanes one, six and seven at the Grand Island toll plaza are for E-ZPass users; the remaining lanes are manned toll booths.

San Antonio
San Antonio (/ˌsænænˈtoʊni.oʊ/ Spanish for Saint Anthony), officially the City of San Antonio, is the seventh most populous city in the United States of America and the second most populous city in the state of Texas, with a population of 1.3 million. It was the fastest growing of the top 10 largest cities in the United States from 2000-2010, and the second from 1990-2000. The city is located in the American Southwest, the south–central part of Texas, and the southwestern corner of an urban region known as the Texas Triangle.
San Antonio serves as the seat of Bexar County. The city has characteristics of other western urban centers in which there are sparsely populated areas and a low density rate outside of the city limits. San Antonio is the center of the San Antonio–New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area. Commonly referred to as Greater San Antonio, the metropolitan area has a population of over 2.23 million based on the 2012 U.S. Census estimate, making it the 25th-largest metropolitan area in the United States and third-largest in the state of Texas. Growth along the Interstate 35 and Interstate 10 corridors to the north, west and east make it likely that the metropolitan area will continue to expand.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain

SUMMARY
=======
San Antonio (; from Spanish, Saint Anthony), officially the City of San Antonio, has more than 1.5 million residents. It is the seventh-most populous city in the United States, and the second-most populous city in both Texas and the Southern United States. Founded as a Spanish mission and colonial outpost in 1718, the city became the first chartered civil settlement in present-day Texas in 1731. The area was still part of the Spanish Empire, and later of the Mexican Republic. Today it is the state's oldest municipality. The city's deep history is contrasted with its rapid recent growth during the past few decades: it was the fastest-growing of the top ten largest cities in the United States from 2000 to 2010, and the second from 1990 to 2000. Straddling the regional divide between South and Central Texas, San Antonio anchors the southwestern corner of an urban megaregion colloquially known as the Texas Triangle.
San Antonio serves as the seat of Bexar County; recent annexations have extended the city's boundaries into Medina County and, for a tiny area near the city of Garden Ridge, into Comal County. Since San Antonio was founded during the Spanish Colonial Era, it has a church (San Fernando Cathedral) in its center, on the main civic plaza in front, a characteristic of many Spanish-founded cities, towns, and villages in Spain and Latin America. As with many other urban centers in the Southwestern United States, areas outside the city limits are sparsely populated.
San Antonio is the center of the San Antonio–New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area. Commonly called Greater San Antonio, the metro area has a population of 2,473,974 based on the 2017 U.S. census estimate, making it the 24th-largest metropolitan area in the United States and third-largest in Texas. Growth along the Interstate 35 and Interstate 10 corridors to the north, west and east make it likely that the metropolitan area will continue to expand.
San Antonio was named by a 1691 Spanish expedition for Saint Anthony of Padua, whose feast day is June 13. The city contains five 18th-century Spanish frontier missions, including The Alamo and San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, which together were designated UNESCO World Heritage sites in 2015. Other notable attractions include the River Walk, the Tower of the Americas, SeaWorld, the Alamo Bowl, and Marriage Island. Commercial entertainment includes Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Morgan's Wonderland amusement parks. According to the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau, the city is visited by about 32 million tourists a year. It is hom ...

How To See Your House From Space
Have you ever wondered how you can see your house from space... for free? What are the satellites taking those pictures of Earth anyway? Are these pictures live? Can you walk outside, look up and see yourself on camera... from space?
Universe Today publisher Fraser Cain details the resources out there you can use to watch your house from above.
Based on this article from Universe Today:
----------------
The space age has given us GPS, weather satellites, and astronauts walking on the Moon.
One of my favorite benefits is the fact that we can now see satellite pictures of Earth, for any spot on the planet... for free!
Space exploration plus the internet is a wonderful thing.
There are more than eight-thousand active satellites in space, and many of those have high-powered cameras attached to big telescopes trained on the surface of the Earth.
Head outside any night and you can see these satellites as bright stars passing overhead.
Some are military satellites, taking high resolution images of top secret locations.
But many are scientific and commercial satellites, whose imagery is available free on the internet, if you know where to look.
Want to see satellite images of the whole Earth?
NOAA's Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (or GOES) release images of entire hemispheres of Earth every three hours.
You can see entire weather systems affecting the planet, and get a good idea if it's going to rain this weekend.
If you want more detail, use a tool like Google Earth or Google Maps to see satellite imagery of almost any spot on Earth.
In some places, like cities, the resolution is very high, allowing you to see objects as small as people and cars.
The images you see in Google Maps actually come from commercial satellite mapping companies, like GeoEye or Digital Globe.
They have satellites capable of resolving objects on the surface of the planet as small as forty-five centimeters.
An object like a garbage can, seen from above, would be a single pixel.
You might wonder then, are these live views?
Can you go outside, look up and see yourself in satellite imagery?
Sadly no, it's not live.
Each company only has a few satellites constantly mapping the surface of the planet.
In some cases, the images you see in Google Maps were taken a few months ago, while in other cases it's been years since the images were refreshed.
If you take a careful look at the satellite imagery of your house, you could guess at when the picture was taken based on what's in your yard, and the cars parked out front.
There are a few services that will give you a live view from space.
There are cameras attached to the International Space Station that give you a view of the Earth passing below.
Soon, a company called Urthecast will be connecting HD cameras to the space station. You'll be able to scroll, pan, zoom, and search your way around their video stream.
They'll also be providing developers with access to open source video streams.
We're not quite yet at the live camera broadcast of your backyard from space, but some of us suspect it's only a matter of time.

After wreaking devastation through the Caribbean and forcing one of the largest evacuations in American history, Hurricane Irma ripped away from the Florida Keys on Sunday afternoon, made a second landfall in southwest Florida, and crawled up the west coast, where residents were bracing after days of frantic preparation.
Winds from Irma, which was downgraded to a Category 2 hurricane, began battering the Tampa Bay area early Sunday evening, according to Michael Brennan, the acting chief of the National Hurricane Center’s Hurricane Specialist Unit. Winds gusts of nearly 60 miles per hour were hitting St. Petersburg, he said. Maximum sustained winds decreased to about 105 miles per hour, from 110 m.p.h. The storm was expected to remain a hurricane through at least Monday morning, the center said.
“The biggest thing you can do now is pray,” Gov. Rick Scott said on Sunday afternoon.
Already crippling more than 2.9 million customers across the state, power failures sprawled by the hour. There was no television to keep many residents updated, with only the remaining battery on their cellphones keeping them in touch with the world.
“Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face,” Mayor Bob Buckhorn of Tampa said at a news conference earlier in the day, paraphrasing Mike Tyson. “Well, we’re about to get punched in the face.”,Here’s the latest:
• Irma has dropped more than a foot of rain in several parts of South Florida so far this weekend. As of 4 p.m. Sunday, Melbourne, southeast of Orlando on Florida’s east coast, had received the most rain in the state, 14.5 inches, according to the National Weather Service. The second most rainfall was in the Everglades National Park, which got about 13.4 inches.
• Marco Island and Naples, where Hurricane Irma made landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast on Sunday, registered the strongest winds in the state during the storm. They topped out at 142 miles per hour in Naples and reached 130 miles per hour in Marco Island, according to the National Weather Service.
• Florida officials have ordered more than 6.5 million residents to leave their homes. Several counties, including Miami-Dade, Collier and Lee, enacted curfews until Monday morning. Collier County also issued a boil-water warning until officials could assess damages to the water system.
• About 540,000 people were told to leave the Georgia coast, and Gov. Nathan Deal declared a state of emergency for all counties. Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina have declared states of emergency.
• Here are our maps tracking the storm and the latest photographs.
• At least 25 people have been confirmed dead in parts of the Caribbean affected by Irma. The hurricane made landfall in Cuba on Friday evening.
• Separately, Hurricane Jose continued to weaken, getting downgraded to a Category 3 storm, the center said.
• Sign up for the Morning Briefing for hurricane news and for a look at what you need to know to begin your day.
One reporter writes from the center of the storm.
Henry Fountain is a Times reporter who was in Fort Myers on Sunday.
Irma’s center passed over Naples at about 5 p.m., the hurricane center said, and continued up the Gulf Coast. For the better part of an hour as it neared Fort Myers, winds that earlier had seemed to fluctuate wildly became far steadier and stronger, spitting rain violently.
Only the sound varied — at times a muffled rattling, other times a rumbling roar.
Then shortly after 7 p.m. the winds began to wind down and the rain stopped hitting with such force. Within about 10 minutes there was almost no rain at all, and the palm fronds that moments before were streaming horizontally were now waving in a light breeze. Even though dusk was approaching, the sky lightened considerably.
The center of Irma had arrived.
It stayed that way for about 20 minutes, long enough for a few people at one Fort Myers hotel to sneak outside, marvel at the calm, and breathe in the tropical air.
Then the wind started to pick up again, blowing in the opposite direction.
The Florida Keys are ordered closed.
The Florida Keys, a 113-mile stretch of islands connected by 42 bridges, have been ordered closed for re-entry until further notice, officials announced Sunday.
The authorities had yet to begin inspections of the dozens of bridges that connect the many islands that make up the Keys, said Cammy Clar

Laramie (Wyoming) - In Another Minute (Week 271)
--- ---
Today is Wyoming's 125 anniversary! On July 10, 1890, this wild west land received its statehood. What better day to publish the video I shot of the picturesque and authentic town of Laramie, Wyoming, this week? Congratulations, Wyoming!
Laramie is only about an hour north of Fort Collins, via an easy and beautiful drive up Highway 287. I enjoyed roaming and filming the downtown area so much - with its buildings dating back all the way to 1869, cowboy culture, delicious food (Jeffrey's Bistro on the corner of Ivinson and N. 2nd), authentic old-timey bars (The Old Buckhorn Bar and Parlor on Ivinson is actually on the State Register of Historic Places!), and incredibly friendly people - that I'm sure to head back up there more often. Oh, and can I just gush about the trains and train tracks? Just seeing the words Union Pacific let's my imagination roam...
Laramie is the seat of the only 4-year university of Wyoming, which may be one of the reasons why old Western culture and modern alternative culture co-exist. It has an interesting history including stories of Western heroes and villains, first women voters and jury members. More recently, it also became known internationally as the place where Matthew Shepard was murdered. While since moving to Colorado, I have learned of the theory that he was not killed because he was gay but because of dealing crystal meth, I would like to focus mostly on the fact that his tragedy was a catalyst for positive awareness and change regarding how mainstream society views and deals with LGBT culture and people. Sometimes good things come from dark events.
I sincerely hope that no one I captured in this video will be offended by being in the video. If you are, please let me know and I'll replace that shot.
Soon, I will publish a post on my personal blog with photos from Laramie, especially because I captured a lot more than could fit into this 1-minute video. But right now I'm going to put on my brand-new Get your beaver buckin' (featuring a rodeo girl riding a big beaver, oh yes) to celebrate 75 years of Jubilee Days and 125 years of Wyoming Statehood. Whee-haaaw!!!
The song in this video is called Tennessee Hayride” and was written and performed by Jason Shaw, who made this song available via the CC BY 3.0 license. Thank you, Jason, for all your excellent music!
