Occupation began in early February in defense against a large copper mine that threatens to destroy this ecologically-, recreationally-, historically-, and spritually-important place. Eight people have consistently lived here, and many more activists come and go. There’s been a consistent influx of people on the weekends, with upwards of 60 participants at once. The resistance is being led by Apache people, and a diversity of people act as allies.
Oak Flat lies between Queen Creek Canyon, Apache Leap, and Ga’an Canyon. It is a sacred place to the Apache people and other Tribes. Prior to 1871, the area was home to Western Apache and other Tribes, before they were removed to reservations. In 1870, 80 Apache warriors jumped from Apache Leap, favoring death over containment or murder by the U.S. Calvary. Oak Flat and Ga’an Canyon are “where the spiritual beings that represent healing live,” says Vernelda grant, tribal historic preservation officer for the San Carlose Apache Tribe (AZ Mining Reform Coalition).
Oak Flat was designated as a National Historic Site in 1955. In 2014, Senators McCain and Flake, in conjunction with Representatives Gosar and Kirkpatrick, handed Oak Flat to Rio Tinto Mining Company, hiding the land exchange in the National Defense Authorization Act, which was signed into law by President Obama. Under this legislation, Rio Tinto has no obligations to acquire regular mining permits or follow NEPA regulations. They are free to destruct as they please.

La Plata, MO, in Northern Missouri, is located on BNSF Railway's Marceline Subdivision at milepost 312.7, part of their Southern Transcon, the former Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway (AT&SF) mainline between Chicago and Los Angeles.
Amtrak’s Southwest Chief passenger train stops here twice a day; the eastbound train #4 in the morning and the westbound train #3 in the evening.
The typical BNSF freight train volume is between 50 and 70 trains per 24 hours. There are 2 cameras available.
There is an ATCS layout available, as well as a radio feed for the western part of the BNSF Marceline Sub, listening to AAR road channel 30, 160.560 (also includes Norfolk Southern's Kansas City District, on road channel 22, 160.440):

More than 10,000 people worldwide claim they're the victims of a vast organized surveillance effort designed to ruin their lives, a phenomenon known as gang stalking. Mental health experts see gang stalking as a symptom of paranoia, but the self-identified victims who insist what they're experiencing is real have come together online and in support groups to share their stories.
VICE met up with a handful of Americans who claim their lives have been derailed by gang stalking to understand what serious consequences the phenomenon presents. Then we hear from Dr. Josh Bazell, one of many physicians who believes the victims of gang stalking are experiencing dangerous delusions that could be treated by mental health professionals.
