Today we are drinking beer out of Fonta Flora Brewing of Morganton, the Bloody Butcher Appalachian Style Grisette with Fox Farm Bloody Butcher Corn. With an emphasis on seasonal flora, Fonta Flora brings English tradition and Belgian inspiration to the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. The Bloody Butcher is a super rustic Appalachian style working class beer featuring local barley, wheat and rye from Riverbend Malt House, heritage Bloody Butcher red corn, sorghum cane juice and toasted sorghum seeds, all from Fox Farms in Burnsville. Donut Beer? Craft Beer for Breakfast
Donut Beer? No, we aren't Dunkin' donuts in beer, we're talking about craft beer made from donuts as microbrewery Carson's Brewery uses glazed donuts from Kempf's Donut Bank of Evansville, Indiana in this brew.
Carson's Beer releases this new donut beer as a limited release showcasing the hops, glaze, and sugar as they balance each other.
Tom Fischer visits this Indiana brewery to learn more. While we don't always recommend beer for breakfast, we recommend the breakfast in this beer.

State of Origin Craft Brew Festival
A look at the State of Origin Craft Brew Festival, which took place in Morganton, North Carolina on June 14, 2014. The event was organized by local Fonta Flora Brewery. In 2014, each brewery and cidery attending had to bring at least one product made with North Carolina ingredients. It was unique and a very fun festival. It has now become an annual festival held each June. Each beer offered at the festival must include a local ingredient from the state in which the brewery is located.

Memorial Weekend Brings Flood Of Bittersweet Mem
BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. -- You could wait until Monday to observe Memorial Day, but some couldn't wait to appreciate.
It's a bittersweet holiday weekend at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
It's always hard when I come out here, says Shirley Lytle, who speaks to the devotion of so many loved ones.
We saw her carefully plucking the grass around the gravestone of her late husband Robert Lytle, senior. The army veteran served in Korea and Vietnam and died in 2007.
Shirley still has heartbreak in her eyes.
I try to keep fresh flowers by his grave when I can, she says. I miss him very much.
Elsewhere, the conversations are short and sweet.
It's pretty out here sweetie, Joy Wilcox whispers to the gravestone of husband Dell Wilcox, junior.
She says Memorial Day isn't just a time of mourning.
I feel now it's a celebration of his life and not a sadness, she says. Their sacrifice is our gift, she tells us.
While everyone else may focus on war stories, they try to find reasons to smile.
Mostly I remember what a good father he was and how much he loved his children, Lytle says, telling us about the passion for fishing passed on to the kids.
Joy keeps a photo with her that reminds her of the sweetest time of their lives together.
When we were on a cruise, we had waited all week to have the midnight chocolate buffet, she says, showing us a picture. So this was his sugar high face.
No matter how many Memorial Day weekends pass, they won't let go of their heroes.
They're bittersweet emotions in a field of flags.
He's still the love of my life, says Lytle.

Grand Rapids, Michigan
Grand Rapids is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is located on the Grand River about 25 miles east of Lake Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 188,040. In 2010, the Grand Rapids metropolitan area had a population of 1,005,648, and the combined statistical area of Grand Rapids-Muskegon-Holland had a population of 1,321,557. Grand Rapids is the county seat of Kent County, Michigan, second largest city in Michigan (after Detroit), and the largest city in West Michigan. A historic furniture-manufacturing center, Grand Rapids is still home to five of the world's leading office furniture companies, and is nicknamed Furniture City. Its more common modern nickname of River City refers to the landmark river for which it was named. The city and surrounding communities are economically diverse, and contribute heavily to the health care, information technology, automotive, aviation, and consumer goods manufacturing industries, among others.
Grand Rapids was the home of The First Family of U.S, Boxing: Floyd Sr., Jr., Jeff, and Roger Mayweather, World Championship Boxer James Toney, singer and song writer Anthony Kiedis, the filmmakers Paul Schrader and Leonard Schrader, the singer Al Green and U.S. President Gerald Ford, who—along with his wife Betty—is buried on the grounds of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids.
